From what I have heard, the type for Pokemon that are more than one entity was called “Guys” specifically so that Falinks’ type combination would come out as Silly/Little/Guys
You should definately watch Alpharad's Too Many Types video. He was the one who commissioned the mod and he goes much more in depth to the analytics of the type matchups while Vulpixie was way more vibes.
8:55 So to explain the Azurill thing for those that don't know, a pokémon's gender acts similarly to other internal mechanics in that it's a number and not a boolean (true/false). This is because different pokémon have different gender ratios, so to randomly roll for the proper chance for a given species, it randomly chooses from a static set number (likely 0-255) and has a variable threshold that it checks against that's determined by the species. One side of the threshold resolves as male, the other side resolves as female. Male-only and female-only have the threshold at an extreme position such that a roll on the other side of the threshold is impossible, while genderless pokémon likely bypass this check completely as it doesn't need to display a symbol. The problem is that the raw number that was rolled is what is stored in the pokémon's internal info and not whether it is male or female as a result of the threshold check. And Azurill and Marill have a different gender ratio (Azurill is 25:75 male to female, while Marill is 50:50). The underlying number that determines the pokémon's gender doesn't change, but the threshold that determines what that number resolves to does. As a result, female Azurill have a 33% chance to evolve into a male Marill as the same number that lies on the female side of Azurill's gender check may be on the male side of Marill's gender check, and the overlap constitutes 25% of the ratio, 1/3 of the 75% female of Azurill's gender ratio. This bug was fixed in Generation VI, likely by storing the actual gender in the pokémon's information and not the raw number.

I've been playing pokemon for over 20 years and I still forget stuff, like how steel is immune to poison attacks or how fire is weak to rock attacks. This rom hack would make me reach peak levels of anxiety and fear every time I'd enter a battle
From what little I've played it almost feels like you pick a couple of typings that you like and build from there. Not dissimilar to following a Fire/Water/Grass or Fairy/Steel/Dragon core for team building. I picked up Chikorita and the Bean typing is absolutely insane. I adore it. If Bean doesn't solve the encounter, I swap to something else like Crab. You could minmax Too Many Types, absolutely. But, I think the most fun comes form picking something fun and going ham.
Remoraid is Gun type because its beta design was literally a gun. Octillary was also going to be a tank, so the evolution was going to be gun fish evolving into tank octopus. But now it’s just a fish evolving into an octopus I miss the gun fish design it was neat
If you get the chance, look up the Type chart for Too Many Types. It's fucking ridiculous. Also, look up Wambu if you get the chance. I recommend his ranking of Specimens from Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion.
Pikachu type would lowkey already have a lot of variety already if they included every “pikachu clone” as the fans call them, the electric rodent of each gen. Emolga would be pikachu flying type Dedenne would be Pikachu fairy type Alolan raichu would be Pikachu Psychic type Togedemaru would be Pikachu steel type Morpeko would be Pikachu dark type And Pawmot would be Pikachu Fighting type 😂
Fun fact: According to Alpharad himself, apparently he only asked them to just add types to the game, but apparently they did more than that and both changed some of the types of existing and also added a bunch of new moves in the game. Which is something I both highly respect but also curse them for lol Curse because instead of near-tripling the size of the matchup chart like it originally would’ve (since the new types would have defensive interaction only) it instead made it almost 8x bigger (correct me on the math if you want). And with tri-types, figuring out and remembering type interactions is an unnecessary ordeal lol
Hey Kip, have you ever played romhacks? In case you haven't, here are my top recommendations: Pokemon Gaia - Gen 3 game with mons up to gen 6, original story and it has mega evolution. Pokemon Crystal Clear - Open world gen 2, you can beat the gyms in any order you want and they scale to your number of badges, you can choose your starting region and there's a bit of character customization. Has many other quality of life features and options. You might have heard of Radical Red, it's a bit of a meme at this point. Fire Red with competitive difficulty, stupidly hard at times, but it has almost all pokemon in it including Paldea mons and it has options to make it an easier ride.
I've played a couple. I tried Radical Red, but man is it an experience. I had a VOD series of it that I paused due to moving on to other projects. I'd love to revisit it at some point. Crystal Clear has also been on my list.
I got a couple streams in, but the react schedule kinda took over my stream time. I was thinking about getting a format for a script and trying to make a video out of it.
I unironically hate the idea that pokemon has too many typings to begin with. Like buddy, WHICH TYPE COULD WE FEASIBLY GIVE THE AXE TO!?!?!? Subbing earth in for rock and ground is BEGGING for disaster because of rock and ground's dynamic with flying types. Making a line of super effective earth moves for flying types ala freeze dry being super effective against water, doesn't fix shit either because that further complicates things. You could no longer look at a ground type and feel safe knowing has no STAB supereffective options against your flying mons. Earth is just the best of rock and ground with only their shared weaknesses and other types are left to just figure out if they resist hits from it or not. If you want Earth the game needs to be made with it in mind like Cassette beasts. Earth's relation to fire, grass and water like pokemon, it's weak to steel bc of steel tools being what break apart and dig into it, glass and plastic are types that exists and i think earth bullies them alongside poison and fire, electricity turns earth types into glass types because type conversion on hit is a mechanic that exists and outside of water and ice freezing and melting into one another and fire burning plastic into poison the mechnic is only really used by glitter types because that's the type's whole gimmick get hit by glitter, you're now glitter, hit a glitter type they become the type they were hit by. Maybe cassette beasts was a bad example bc in addition to weird typings they also have the mults for weaknesses and resists being 1.25x to balance out thematically appropriate stat debuffs and buffs like wind water and earth putting out fire to its reduce attack or metal types getting the ability to cause status on contact hits when it takes a poison or electric attack. Removing a type just won't work because of all the mons you need to rework to give a different type so even if bug is pathetic it's impossible to remove bc wtf are you gonna do with all these very distinctly insect-like creatures? I get that the tcg doesn't have all of the in-game types but that system is very awkward compared to the one in place.
It's an interesting argument to hear, in regard to Pokemon already having too many Types. But, I'd argue the way that Pokemon has adjusted their balancing since Black and White has made every Type viable. Gen 5 was the proverbial renaissance for Bug Types. Instead of Wormadam, Parasect, and Beedrill we got things like Escavalier and Accelgor that did some great things. Types like Ground and Fairy are still just value, but in anything a metagame will always develop since something will always be better at achieving the end result over other options. That's just to be expected.
Whimsicott is also Jacob Alpharads favourite pokemon to my knowledge, so its no wonder it can wipe teams in this mod... Also you don't need to be invited to play this mod IIRC, its available on a discord server. Alpharad should have a video about this on his channel with the link to the server in the description.
39:30 Uno Reverse swaps all its weaknesses. So a Fire/Reverse type Pokemon would resist Fire and Water, but be weak to Grass. Baby type is weak to literally everything. Wynaut resists literally everything.
react to alpharad original video, he goes into a bit more detail of the mod which is way funnier since with context, alot of the type interaction make for some hilarious moment
If you want to play this game yourself maybe reacting to a playthrough wouldn´t´ve been the best idea. Also, "just" do toxic/leech seed/revive spam to defeat any pokémon realisticaly easily speaking. But dunno if any of her mons would´ve been able to use toxic.
From what I have heard, the type for Pokemon that are more than one entity was called “Guys” specifically so that Falinks’ type combination would come out as Silly/Little/Guys
Falinks was the reason they modded in the third type.
I was so upset she didn't check Falinks's type.
I love everything about this.
You should definately watch Alpharad's Too Many Types video. He was the one who commissioned the mod and he goes much more in depth to the analytics of the type matchups while Vulpixie was way more vibes.
I'll have to dive into his video!

Her updated design is an absolute banger.
