How Purdue's Zach Edey Became the Best Player in College Basketball

  • In today's video, we'll take a closer look at Purdue basketball and its star player Zach Edey, a 7-4 center who has become the best player in college basketball by a rather large margin. Despite having mild expectations heading into the season, the emergence of Edey has propelled Purdue to a unanimous #1 ranking, and it looks like this might be the program's best chance to get back to the Final Four in quite some time.

This year's team is MUCH MORE fun to watch than the team last year... VERY SOLID players come off the bench, ALL play well together, much more fundamental execution this year. Edey is AWESOME.

As a Purdue fan, this year has been such a pleasant surprise. I think Zach will end up staying for his Senior year and developing a shot this off-season. Nothing crazy, but enough to be able to knock down an open 3 like Chet Holmgren or Hunter Dickinson. THAT will be the final form of Zach Edey that college basketball should be afraid of.

    • @BobbyDouglasBasketball

I could see it. I honestly feel like his biggest roadblock for the NBA is his defense in space though.

Admittedly, I don't watch a lot of NCAA ball, but I happened to watch the Michigan State - Purdue game this past weekend and I was blown away seeing Zach play. He was so dominant and used his height so well but also so gracefully for his size. If he stays healthy and continues to improve his game, he should be an NBA all-star in a few years imho. Honestly not even fair watching him bully the smaller big men at the college level 😂

    • @BobbyDouglasBasketball
