Environmental Learning Center, Vero Beach, FL and Sebastian, FL area

Had an exciting day in and around Sebastian, FL. Started out at St Sebastian River Preserve State Park; it is closed for construction until the end of July 2024. So I headed cross the Indian River on 510 heading east. Stopped off at the boat ramp right before Wabasso Island. Cool place for a picnic, and bathroom break. Once on Wabasso Island I went to the ELC (environmental learning center). Lots of cool things to see, touch and do here. LOTS OF MOSQUITOES! I must have gotten bit 20+ times within a few minutes; thank God I carry Off in the car! I spend about 2 hours leisurely walking around the learning center. After that, I took a drive down Jungle Trail along the Indian River. It was quite exciting to drive on hard sand. Then I finished my day at Sebastian Inlet State Park. Here, they had a cool museum, and the largest lizards I have seen in Florida thus far. There is so much to see and do in this area, I may need to come back again.
