Fun fact If you rented a boat there 40 years ago you’d get a punter and had to push yourself forward with a long stick like they do with gondola’s in Venice. But the traditional punter has disappeared from giethoorn.

Wow, sitting there for hours in a slow boat feeling stupid when it is super busy....hell. No cats in Giethoorn? I think Giethoorn is like coffeeshops in Amsterdam: mainly for tourists. I never been to Giethoorn and now I don't have to. Thank you very much. You rating stroopwafels is very funny. I wonder who lives in this Giethoorn. Are there authentic genuine Giethoornaars? I doubt it. I think that Giethoorn was on the international version of Monopoly and since then it is flooded with tourists from Asia. You did some thorough research for this vlog, very good. Keep it up! Almost 10k now.

Great vlog! While you were in Giethoorn you should have seen the Weerribben. Its a pretty big jungleish nature region which is very beatyfull. Just like Giethoorn you can go through the jungle with boat through small canals and ditches. You can also get to Giethoorn quite easily from there concidering its quite near (were talking about not even 3 kilometers or something, it depends where you are) Its litterly just jungle there and with small villages in the same old Dutch theme of Giethoorn and alot more peacefull even tho you guys were already quite lucky it wassnt to crowded in Giethoorn at that time because usually. IT IS SO GOD DANG CROWDED (with also alot of Asian people for some reason, alot of Chinese idk why) Also it was so funny to see you guys breaking pretty much all rules with the boat 🤣 Watch out for the water police next time (trust me their strict and you dont want to mess with them) 👀

You just missed buncharted, they vlogged about giethoorn a few days ago ;) edit: btw, nowadays it is one way traffic, 30+ years ago it was two way. Yes, there are rules on the water. ps. I had a 20 year old outboard dying on me there once. Forgot the oars but had a paddle as backup. Had to paddle from the middle of the lake back to the canal, that was no fun.
Giethoorn is still very beautiful, but when i was a kid, it was a lot more original and quiet. Giethoorn is a village that original was nearly entirely mennonite. The mennonite church still is in the centre of the village. The mennonites were looking for a place to settle far from the outside world, so they choose 'this swampy environment'.

Lesson number 1: The ONLY original stroopwafel is made in Gouda. Other can be tasty too but no reheated ones! Any product that needs to be marketed like WE ARE BEST, We are No. 1 , We are the original. Real Dutch! Is fake and a tourist trap. Any Dutch product that is on sales with more than 5 options is touristy. Dutch people are proud but simple people. A good product does not need 10 different toppings. All this customization is for American tourists and the likes. Again a real Dutch product has a preferred form (Just 1) and that's it. Arriving early at touristy places is the best tip to give!

you should go to Den Bosch , you can boat under the city there :) and the provincie Zeeland is a must - most sunshine per year in The Netherlands :)

Gouda is the place apparently for good stroopwafels. Never had them there, but I’ve had amazing stroopwafels freshly made on the market in Utrecht.

Giethoorn is still very beautiful, but when i was a kid, it was a lot more original and quiet. Giethoorn is a village that original was nearly entirely mennonite. The mennonite church still is in the centre of the village. The mennonites were looking for a place to settle far from the outside world, so they choose 'this swampy environment'.

I'm from Giethoorn and I know much better places than where you went. These are horrible busy places where everybody comes.
