The first wallet I designed was a trifold wallet for my brother. The design of that wallet got me totally hooked on leather work. Now my living room is filled with bunches of leather and my kitchen table is a workstation.
Leather craftsmen always start with small things and end up occupying the entire house. Keep up the good work!
I downloaded the PDF and made one of these. It is probably the best leather crafted item I have ever made. The design is simple but very elegant. It is so comfortable in the hand. I have trouble making patterns with paper (card stock) and translating those into leather. I have to learn how to account for the thickness of the leather. I guess I need more practice. I just wanted to deeply thank you for this design gift. It is wonderful.

1. kenda bond
: yellow, chemical smell, very strong, low price
2. intercom ecostic, high price
: white, no chemical smell, thin
3. Instant adhesive
: race, braiding, metal hardware (rarely)
4. B5 bond
: Beige, Thick, using for lining.

Nice wallet. I've noticed on the videos that I've seen so far that you don't use a stitching pony. Is there a reason for that? I've found that using one has greatly improved my quality of work.
I love to using pony, but many video has that so I tried different view. I using pony as well. :)

I am intrigued by the contact adhesive you use. I use a combination of 3 and don't really have a favorite yet. I use Master's contact cement (similar to Barge cement), Aquilim 315 (water soluble contact cement) and a Japanese brand that you use on one side wet and then clamp. Can you tell us what contact cement you use? Please.

@@HahnsAtelier I just carved out the pieces! I'm using veg tan, so I'll have to dye it and stamp if I desire. Will probably start it sometime this week got some gift ideas I wanna make. Do you have an eyeglass template? I wanna make one for my grandma with a tinker bell swivel knife design. (She loves tinkerbell) Also making some keychains for people but those were pre-cut.

1. What material did you use to trace your template? I tried old shoebox cardboard but veg tan is soft so my line wernt perfect.
2. Since veg tan is soft my traced indentation wasn't very noticible, should i have dampened the leather then traced?
3. What stitching techniques did you use? Just the types, so I can look it up.
4. General leather craft question, should i use gum tragacanth on fuzzy side to give it smooth firmness before or after swivel work/ stamping? Or just not do it for a project like this?

I just use hard paper (180g) Mark with awl and cut follow the template . You can see how it works in my vid

If your leather type is not really noticible by awl mark, You can use a pen. there is silver metal pen for marking on the leather

It's on your taste. If you like rough feeling on your project, just leave them. for veg tenned leather I recommend leather gum finishing of dying edge. It's totally up to your taste I can't say "my method is the best! you should follow it!" =) But If you like my style, I can recommend my method :) Thanks for the question Good luck with your project!!
@@HahnsAtelier thanks a bunch for the response! I havnt started the wallet due to finishing Christmas gifts first. I'm actually going to make my grandma a check book cover. Saw an easy template- cover is 7 1/2 x 8 and two slots to hold check book/ balance book is 7 1/2 x 3 1/2. Can't wait to make it, and the wallet and many more projects. I'll lyk how it turns out, or if I run into any issues.
