Toyota disguising a station wagon as a CUV/SUV is a win for me, because I love wagons and wish more Americans liked them enough for the companies to bring them back!
They’re useless
@@RealKevGotEm That makes no sense. Maybe you don't like them, but objectively they are the same for utility as most CUV/SUVs...so objectively not "useless". Just reactionary emotion on your part.
i LOVE MY oUTBACK
Thank you for the video sir. I am considering buying one of these as a daily and to take a bunch of road trips across the country. I typically do not fully watch auto review videos, but I watched the full video. Your tone, items described, etc. kept my attention. Much appreciated.
This is one of the best cars you can have right now as a daily driver no matter what is your needs. Other than people who really want a sports coupe, this is a great choice not enough people chose to buy.
One of the coolest things about this model is that it gets you from one place to another. Can't beat that.
Chris, With the Signia's starting price ($43-44K) near a top trim compact crossover, I am thrilled to see the Outback finally has some overdue 'Japanese' competition in the Wagon/CUV category.🥳 I wish the 'party piece' extenders were swapped for a traditional 40/20/40 rear seat so the Signia could reach its full potential as a family ski wagon. It saddens me to report the Signia XLE, with its slightly more sensible 19" rims, won't be sold on the other side of the Ambassador or Gordie Howe bridges. As is too often the case these days, Toyota Canada does not understand/respect their own market. 🤨
It saddens me we get this crown over all the actual amazing crowns that got released but never here. I guess because they were actually amazing cars that Americans don't deserve because we eat crap like this up
Well said and I believe you are correct. Toyota does not respect its Canadian customers. Not only less choice, but you have to wait a year longer (for most models) than you'd have to wait in the USA. This is a nice vehicle, but not 2 year wait nice.
@@ytj22 We are being taken for granted these days. The strangest thing is that just a few years ago Toyota created cheaper trims for us to keep things more affordable. As an example, the base Corolla hatch with the steel wheels, plastic hubcaps and urethane steering wheel was not sold in the USA where the SE was bottom grade. Now it has all flipped and we cannot buy a new Camry LE as well as the base trims of many other models. It is very aggravating. Worst of all has to be the Signia because we are far more likely to embrace a wagon than our American neighbours yet our version of the Signia starts over $57,000.
The Outback costs 50k$ CAD at it's highest trim. This Toyota starts at 57k$ CAD. I don't think the Crown Signia competes with the Outback. It aims higher and outcasts several buyers at its price. Although, I cannot deny it is a beautiful car.
@@rightlanehog3151 I am currently looking for sedans and Toyota and Honda are no longer considered given their upscale prices
I like how these companies are bringing back station wagons and calling them "SUVs". People completely buy the disguise lol, it's genius. Turns out people want wagons anyways. Good driving, just a little bit of lift goes a long way and most people won't even notice, and it's super practical. Looks like a good option to me.
now they just need to lower them because god that ride height is gross
@@Sheltur_0311 It's not horrible. I do wish they had an actual low wagon but maybe that's asking too much for America lol. At least in full black this car looks pretty low to the ground and wagon-like.
Love that it's closer to a wagon than a truck - it looks real sharp!
Toyota model lineup is so interesting; border line confusing. But I’m glad they got something in every segment!!
It's starting to get confusing cause they are starting to bring cars from other markets and making it available to the north Americans and I'm not complaining it gives people options
Great review. Your POV driving reviews are fantastic! Gives a really good impression on how this vehicle handles. Thank you!
I have driven the ‘25 Crown Signia Limited for about a month now. Approximately 700 miles. I have the same observation with the torque. The engine “feels” like a V6 when you are driving in Normal and Sport Drive mode. The full-time AWD does feel like you are actually in an SUV. Turning radius is very good, if I have to compare this to my previous 2016 Avalon. The seat is comfortable and we have been stuck in traffic with it. I hope that Toyota will come out with the “Platinum” model and maybe add the power steering column, HUD and maybe the retractable roof. I have been only using 91 octane for fuel and I have been getting 35mpg City and 42 mpg HWY.
My only complaint is the manual steering column and no roof racks/accessories.
Great review! I really like this, but wish that the sunroof opened, and that Toyota used version 5 of their hybrid system rather than version 4. I also think it's very cheap of them not to include a spare donut, as there's space for one, when you're paying over 50K.
Good, solid, informative review. Thank you! I think it’s a great looking wagon.
Such a beautiful vehicle, but honestly wouldn't mind a woodlands edition too. I wish Lexus would add more contrasting colors like this in their products! You did an amazing job with this review!
This car looks great I really wished it came with a 8-speed automatic
Is it 6 speed?
@@vladseva2327 it’s an e-cvt transmission
is it me or that front just looks amazing
Part of me wants to buy one instead of a GX since I don't really off road much. Thoughts?
9:42 well said. this is the only one toyota product have the best design ever than toyota past
Hey @TheTopher which would you choose, this, or a volvo v60 CC?
Beautiful design+reliable. What not to like Toyota really get it done right
Is the tech package worth $2,000?
Is it me or noise isolation is on very low level? Wheel noise is coming into the cabin like crazy.
2.5 but with sports mode would be a bingo. Im looking forward for this.
I'm a little concerned about less than 200lb ft of torque in a vehicle meant to carry this much stuff. The CRV hybrid has 250lb ft. Why the low torque number?
Toyota doesn’t combine their numbers like Honda does. This makes more torque Total than 250
So which Seiko is he wearing today?
Would like your thoughts on this vs the outback XT. I presume the outback is better for ground clearance but the Signia is more urban crawler
Let's face it: this was supposed to be the real new Venza model that had been discontinued years ago.
Are all the toyota crown models being assembled in Japan? That makes them a lot more desirable for me.
3:43 - yes
I'd be interested to know if that circular cutout beneath the cargo area actually would fit a spare tire.
I bet it can accommodate a spare. It is very strange that the Crown sedan comes with a spare while the wagon does not.
Can you get the 19 inch tires on the top version- I think it would ride better?
Can you buy one of these now?
What a great video!
They should’ve leaned a little more into the wagon class
It is a wagon
@@zoomzoom3839 no they made it short to try and take away the look of being a wagon. They should’ve leaned more into wagon styling cues
@@parkergray5346 short? this car is as long as a Highlander. It would look a little more wagon like if it had a lower ride height.
Wonder if you could get the 19"'s on the limited as an option...
What level of fun to drive does this have. Is it better than an SQ5?
I wonder would you pick this vs add a few thousands for a RX350h?
They should have an LE trim of this.
I wish it had more ground clearance (for snow and soft roading) to be in competition with an outback.
Give it the 5th gen system!
How is the legroom and comfort vs Highlander ?
no head up display? We are in 24,and this car cost to much
This looks like a mix between a BMW ix and a Toyota crown
Looks like it would be a nice car if the engine wasn’t so obnoxious. I’ve previously driven Toyota hybrids and found the engine to be annoyingly loud under anything but gentle acceleration, and your test seems to be backing that up again. After just owning a full electric vehicle I think that noisy engine would drive me crazy.
really good car for 45K
If you ask me this new Toyota looks better than some new Lexus offerings which is kind of interesting 👀
Good morning!
At 2:58, please show the fold flats fully down, it's hard enough to find visualizations much less finding it in first person perspective. And not many cars can do this
th-cam.com/video/utHbfw1OOVk/w-d-xo.html 6:30 here I fold one side down
Wow beautiful road in San Diego. Can you tell me which it is? ✌️
the price starts at $43,590
What a luxury sedan😂😢🎉
Nice interior 👌
I like 👍
I'm not enthused by the CVT powertrain. The engine noise just isn't that appealing, and it sounds as if it is struggling with the weight of the car going through those bends. I've never owned a car with a CVT and the sound it makes is one of the reasons why.
It’s very unnatural.
It doesn’t hold revs at all, so obnoxious. Maybe better in sport mode?
It’s a hybrid with ecvt built for efficiency and comfort. Don’t expect anything sporty.
It’s not that bad in daily driving. He’s driving this car how you shouldn’t drive it… it’s not a sports drive train.
Like you said, you never owned one, you get use to it. Owned one for 2 years
so this is a pricier rav4/venza?
A few thou more than those, I believe.
At least 380 hp, and i buy it.
What happened to the twitch? Theres nothing there anymore
Agh, connection issues were super annoying and we ran out of time for at home live streams. Might try to do some more on TH-cam this summer
OW-8 oil. Wow.
This is probably the same size as the Mazda CX 50.
Oh would love to see this as a wagon (near zero chance 😭)
it's a wagon
Is "kind'a fun to drive " because is the crówn chasis
Oh the sound of that sexy CVT.
I’m looking forward to buy a new family car , my price range is 16k U.S.D does anyone have any suggestions?
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander SE. Great car for the price! Can be had for $16k with around 50k miles on it.
Needs the MAX system at that price point. This CVT implementation drone is maddening.
CVT immediately takes a car off my radar, always such a bummer to find out it’s being used in one I was considering
CVT is the most unnatural feeling ever.I get dizzy driving them as they mess with my equilibrium.
@@hossbonaventure It's an e-CVT. Same, but different.
Gotta sell Lexus somehow.
Now imagine if that Crown Sport you guys are begging for comes with a eCVT…
All of Toyota hybrids cars come with eCVT, only their hybrid truck frames come with traditional autos. The eCVT is the most efficient for their hybrid system and with proven reliability.
R.I.P Venza V6 2010-2015
Looks really nice but unfortunately its too slow for me and the middle hump in the rear seat leg room is too large. Toyota should have made this a plug in hybrid.
21" wheels on a mid level station wagon? Gettin outta hand. No meat on the tires to take the hits from our crumbling roads. Not to mention $$$$ on replacement tires.
❤❤❤❤❤
I like that toyota doesn't care that they have lexus. This is the most lexusified toyota I've seen and I love it. Further proves my pint that Toyota is a luxury car company. This is the perfect soccer mom hellcat you could buy. If i had a wife and amount of money, I'd buy her this acting like sugar daddy.
P.S. We really need toyota crown sport phev man.
Toyota is goated,i wish German manufactures made their cars to last as well
There has always been 'inbetween' models that sit right on that line between Toyota and Lexus. Of course in Toyota you have the very low end like the Corolla etc and the ones that sit on the 'inbetween' are the Avalons (rip), Crown models, Venza (rip) etc
Back to looking boring, expensive, no spare .. sad to see Venza go
I just don't think I can tolerate that constant raspy 4cyl noise.
looks a little bit like a range rover velar
I think if it was made by a different maker this car would look stunning.
Bro please could u do a video on Volkswagen Golf gti club sport the latest one it looks phenomenal I would like to see the review from u and ur thoughts then only I’ll buy it🥱
Never was a fan of Toyota design, but this is a very nice vehicle. Engine definitely struggling to get up to speed with only one person inside. Put an entire family plus luggage and its going to be very unpleasant to drive this listening to that stressed engine. At over $50K on a limited trim at least offer a bit more power. Come on Toyota.. almost every new vehicle has some kind of annoying shortcoming.. its either weird interior design, lack of power or a failed marketing research. I can't believe the engine from RAV4 Prime is not offered. Very disappointed. You were so close to an almost perfect vehicle.
Sounds like a lawn mower
Wow and it comes without a Spare Tire. Where do I sign.😂😂😂😂
Trying to appeal to the frumpy American ideals of SUVs and crossovers just hinders this thing from being an excellent wagon.
First gen cars are problematic ask me 2019 RAV4 wait till a year or two before buying in
43k is wild
It’s a max trim
New car prices are ridiculous these days, it's almost stupid to buy a new npc car these days if you have to take a credit or aren't filthy rich
@@bakielh229 used ain’t much better
I don’t know but that’s one noisy engine and not really Lexus like.
Ohhh she Japanese... noice.
Chris is simple why this interior looks premium....was not built in North America..... The interior looks luxurious because was made by Japaneses .
It’s cool but I’d drive a Honda zrv or a Toyota Corolla cross instead
Also first 🎉
Wow, 43 grand isnt bad! Thats only, like, 43 times the price of a used 90s Tacoma!
Tell me you haven’t seen the car market in 10 years without telling me
@davidbennett5424 yeah, no, you're right. inflation sucks. :(
@@ThePodcastPodcastOfficianato 😭😭
A 90 Tacoma? 😂

@@davidrubin2612 😅🙂
very loud for a new car
Man that CVT sound is horrible!!
This was engine noise, not CVT noise.
Nice to see Toyota spending some money on a nice interior but the exterior is kind of ugly….
Doors sound are not appealing.
Big fail. Rav4 hybrid is less expensive and larger than this (this is about the same size as the Corolla Cross). The interior is more “luxurious” than the Rav, but the Rav’s interior is totally fine IMO. Not really sure what Toyota was thinking pricing this thing at $45-50k.
The RAV4 is not larger than this. It's as long as the Highlander.
@@InPursuit2023 longer but 4 inches shorter in height and less cargo room.
@@jakes5530it's 14 inches longer and 2 inches wider than RAV4. With that extra long wheel base, it's gonna ride much better than the RAV. The cargo space is slightly smaller because it's a got a bigger second row. With the seats folded down it lays flat 6.5ft length of space, the cargo space is more usable here in the Signia imo. These are also built in Motomachi plant in Japan unlike the American and Canadian built RAV4s. Crown has always been a more premium vehicle, more isolated, improved nvh over regular the regular yotas, very popular in developing Asian countries back in the day as a "boss" car.
@@jakes5530 *IF* it has less cargo room (with rear seats up), I'd be willing to bet that is only due to height. We have a R4H and we never pack it above the rear seats. My point being, this may have more usable space. I haven't see the official cargo space numbers, where did you see them?
@@InPursuit2023 check the forbes article
51k for that
😒
Better than your koreaboo mobile
The sedan version is better, the American consumer has just been bamboozled into being so uncomfortable with anything that's not pretending to be an SUV that we feel discomfort with a great car just because we're scared of not having storage or towing capacity we will literally never use as we drive to work and the grocery store.
People like the new crossover thingy because of the higher seat height so it makes ingress/egress easier, especially people with a bad back. Also, people like the hatch over a trunk. Also, people like the ever so slightly raised ground clearance. That extra 2 inches or so does make a difference. Also, people like having awd over fwd -- as most Japanese sedans tend to be.
It's not just a trend, crossovers are here to stay and it's the new form factor. You act like a three box design sedan is somehow the purist form of a vehicle. No dummy, it's just been the norm for so many decades. And now it's crossovers.
@@ChristianC-gy1ym Crossover demand only exists because of bungled regulations creating incentive for automakers to balloon car sizes out of control. This idea that crossovers naturally became the "new norm" organically is complete baloney. Americans would absolutely buy sedans more but the auto makers literally don't want us to because they make bigger margins on less efficient, bigger, and more expensive crossovers, trucks and SUVs. People with bad backs absolutely do not make up 45% of the car buying market and if people just wanted the storage space they'd still be buying wagons. Crossovers are a plague.
@fireyams3460 You're living under a rock or just an aging dinosaur. Crossovers are the new norm for all the reasons I mentioned and then some. And it's literally laughable that you falsely claim how inefficient they are when in fact they're more efficient than a sedan from 10 yrs ago. I'm sorry you don't like modernization. Sorry you don't like hybrids and plug in hybrids. Sorry you just hate on anything and everything popular just because you see yourself as some sort of rebel. Nobody cares
@@ChristianC-gy1ym I like hybrids a lot they're probably the best way to make a car go these days. And hybrid sedans are more efficient in every conceivable respect than hybrid crossovers that's just the facts. Go ahead and keep eating the slop the automotive industry is feeding you and put more oversized compromise laden uninspired crossover blobs on the road, hopefully some day regulations will catch up and we'll see how long the segment lasts then.
@@fireyams3460 More efficient as far as fuel economy but they still don't offer the practicality and versatility of crossovers.
Too much money for a boring car
Is that a shyte CVT I hear?..... EWWW🤮
Man Toyota needs new interior designers. I stg their interiors look like they were designed by an 80 year old man for other old people. Nothing wrong with that! But it’s just ALL their cars
Toyota is conservative but they have been making strides with their latest models though (Yaris etc)
Ugliest crown in existence doesnt deserve the name. The Athlete and Estate were so much better. Id rather the 90's comfort super saloon over this.
Oh well, a shame the auto industry will only get worse from now on…
No hood struts on a 50k car? Lmao.
Lol hood struts have nothing to do with the quality of car. How does it in any way affect ride quality, driving dynamics, NVH of a vehicle?? It doesn’t.
Hood struts suck, they always fail
@@noahkim8377, it is a nuisance…
@@michaels3003 only if you make it one… again, completely irrelevant to quality of the car. Since when was having a hood strut standard for luxury cars?
It's 2024 Not 2025
In the US, it will be a model year 2025. For example, the 2025 Camry are already being sold.
Welcome to the future
That apple car play fits to such cars just like glove on foot. Terrible, ugly, outdated, restricted and childish.
This car looks stunnning, but that CVT gearbox is a red flag.
What in the world is Toyota doing? Who asked for this!? CVT as well?
Abhorrent price tag as well.😢
Toyota Hybrids have had the Ecvt for 20 years. it makes sense. more efficient than a regular automatic.
Ecvt is proven reliable. it's not a Nissan jatco
The eCVT is probably the best CVT on the market. Simple planetary gear set, no belts, very reliable.
eCVT is totally different from CVT except the name.
