Can I just say, I never left the Luai train, even when the media did their best to drag him through the dirt. He has always been a positive influence, especially out here in mt druitt, loving father figure, proud of his culture, most hated by Queenslanders 💙 he is the man and yes you are right the best is yet to come!
Without signing any superstars, Souths might’ve just picked up exactly the players they need. Especially with players coming back from injury, and obviously Wayne back in the building
That's what's supposed to happen in the salary cap era. unlike a certain team from a certain southern state, penrith have lost a few good players since 2020. I mean you could make a starting 17 with the players they had to let go and they most likely would win multiple comps.
I really, really rate them. I firmly believe they’ll be written off as failures (especially Luai) given they won’t propel you straight to finals, but they’ll be so positive for the club
Love your videos mate! Would it be possible to do a video on why Brisbane has lost out on so many talented young players past 20 years? And also why Melbourne are struggling to produce local players?
I’ll add those to my list of video ideas, but I guess on a more surface level, they suffer from the opposite problems: Pre-Dolphins, the Broncos were the only nrl presence in that Brisbane area. Even the Gold Coast is enough of a nursery in itself to keep the Titans ticking along, so not even they had to expand into Brisbane. By sheer weight of numbers, there were always going to be high quality players they had available to them who have slipped through the cracks. But to be fair, issues recently with the football department have increased that. I know for example they lost Sam Walker primarily because they insisted he was a fullback. The Melbourne situation is much more simple - they don’t really try. To build up a competitive enough system down there to generate quality players is probably beyond the means of one club, and the NRL have offered too little support. Fundamentally, their recruitment tactics have worked wonders for 2 decades without local juniors, why would they change now? Hope that helps a bit mate 💚
Looking forward to how the Tigers can turn things around with big signings and I am keen on seeing some teams like the Broncos and the Bunnies to turn things around in 2025. I’ll be putting my tin foil hat on knowing there will be some amazing games at the start of Round 1 which I’m really keen to see 👍
Yeah it’s really tough because I always predict like 12 teams to make the top 8, and the remaining five to finish 10-14. I’d need to really sit down and figure it out. I don’t think they’ll be in the finals race. But if they don’t finish bottom 4 it wouldn’t shock me.
@@TheLeaguietigers will return to their rightful place at 9th lol. In all seriousness I hope luai does bring the same passion and intensity that he brought to Penrith to the tigers
Im kinda concerned about the tigers future not that we can get worse but I trust benji in every way and i think he is the solution in this spoon crisis but take example i think were throwing around to much money and wont have enough money to resign our young guns (galvin, bula, pole, sione and samuela) I think our rookies are the answer but sometimes im not sure thr tigers think like that given we are the most interested in nikora who at his best is one of the best backrowers in the comp So I think our future is iffy If we keep away from high profile signings and trust our rookies And thats how we make the 8 Not wasting random amounts of money in high profile big signings (I think luai is an exception as luai and galvin as luai os an exporrenced half who will only inprove galvins game by tenfold) Nikora would be a massive waste of money We have expirence were we need it (olam and bird on their respective sides luai and royce ect ect)
To be honest aside from Luai I’m really not sure who you’ve signed that would command money like that. Perhaps Turuva, but he is an excellent young player. I’d expect guys like Bird and Hunt to have moved over on very similar money to what they were on at their old clubs. And by the time your young guys will be seeking upgrades, those two will be at the end of their careers. Galvin is signed until the end of ‘26, Bula ‘26 with an option for ‘27, Samuela ‘27. Sione doesn’t have a contract for next year, and Pole can negotiate for ‘26 from November 1. I’d imagine the club are working on both of those now
When I made this video I planned on doing a part 2, including big signings like Stefano and Zac Lomax. This video didn’t do to well so not sure if I’ll make the part 2, but potentially
Which player are YOU most excited to see play for their new club in 2025?

Jerome luai 🐯
Jeral Skelton getting a crack at consistent first grade is scary 🔥

The tigers signings are good. I think Benji knows what he is doing In signing those experienced players to help guide our younger guys.

Where do you tip the Tigers to finish next season given the signing of Jarome Luai? I think they'll narrowly miss out of the eight and finish tenth

Penrith?
Hope they can teach Talagi to tackle.
He’s a 19 year old who’s barely played at 5/8th in the top grade. I’m not going to be harsh on him
Kevin Walters was sacked by the Broncos because he has no eyebrows 😮
