Thanks Nicole, for the wonderful tips. I am so happy your channel is almost 7k! I’ve been watching since last year… your black and white porch decor is what drew me in! 🙂
I like taking several different colors of mums and planting them in the same pot. Like the pink with yellow center mum and white mums with orange mums together in one pot. Turns out awesome. I got the idea from a nursery in West Virginia a few years ago and they were selling them as ghostbuster mums.
I’m new to Wilmington (from New England) and starting with a literal blank slate and no idea what to plant or when to plant it! I’m so grateful to have found your channel - sooo many great ideas, I’m inspired by you! Looks like I’ll be doing some fall planting!
@wendyfoster4038 your story sounds like mine, I just got here earlier ☺️ Moved here from NY nearly 10 years ago with a literal blank slate myself and no idea where to begin. I've learned SO much since then, so if you have any specific questions, definitely ask! 😁 Thanks for writing!
You've lit a fire in me, Nicole! I don't usually go for mums here in Florida but I'm going to search for some pretty colors like you found with the yellow center! My chore today will be weeding in my muhly bed before I shop. Thanks for the inspiration, once again.
Awe, I love this! See, you say I gave you inspiration, but when I receive messages like this, it in turn inspires me back. I appreciate you and wish you good luck today!
hi, enjoyed the video. those are some beautiful mums. i have not been out to see what our lowes or home depo may have. your garden center had some beautiful colors and i know that they are going to look beautiful in your garden. thank you for sharing with us. love this time of year.
Thanks so much for your message! Yes, for sure, look around when you get the chance to see if you can find any non-boring mums. LOL. The relief in the temps feels so good, it makes this time of year great! Take care!
Thank you for saying something about irrigation! I had forgotten to turn the water off 😂 I paused the video and ran outside. I added pumpkins two years ago and now I have pumpkin vines growing and little tiny pumpkins sprouting so I'll be able to decorate with them.
OMG, I love it! You just never know when you say something how it might be helpful 😅 So glad you turned your water off!! Awe, that's so cool about the pumpkins!!!
Hi Nicole I got those mums. Now I’m not a fan of them they tend to be high maintenance and Flowers’s die. I found that when I put in ground or containers I take a lot of the roots off and hose off most of the dirt also off the roots then plant in ground or container. They seem to do better seeing majority of the time they are root bound
@@inspiringgardenkorner Hi! That's interesting and good to take note of. I do think mums can be a lot of work with deadheading, but I'm still up for the extra color! ☺️
Wonderful landscaping! can you shoot a video of Dragon's breath celosia and Dipladenia..care please. These are the only plants i can not find at my local nursery and on Etsy.
I’ve just moved into my new home and I get intimidated to plant in the fall because most people say oh wait I’ll spring I’m in 8b zone also so I’m taking notes and really want to plant things .. I need more advice for a “brown thumb girl” I know o can get this right but again hate that intimation holds me back lol
In zone 8b, I plant in the early spring as well, but you have to be careful that it is not too late where the heat will mess things up. I love fall planting. I definitely wouldn't shy away from it. Right now is a great time because we won't see frost for quite a while yet. I would encourage you to mulch your flowerbeds to help protect the roots of your plants for winter, but besides that, go for it! ☺️
Hi Nicole 🌺. Every thing looks so beautiful in fall and these mums color looks amazing so pretty I will look for it . Nicole I was watching TH-cam Widow shooper 22 she was at Walmart Major clearance and they have the pretty blue daisy . Havel a lovely day . 🌺🌻🌺
Your message has come to me in a timely fashion because I am going to Walmart this afternoon. I will certainly look through the plants! Thanks so much for a lovely message. Take care!
Thank you for your thoughtfulness! I am very lucky because somehow my particular area was spared this time. So heartbreaking to see Carolina Beach, though. UGH... and it had just been our anniversary of Florence hitting (6 years ago) when we flooded so terribly. I appreciate this message!!
@@mycarolinagarden you’re welcome and I’m glad you were spared! I’ve got some friends in CB and they were really fortunate compared to so many. Crazy! I can tell you my new cherry trees and Camellia Sinensis I planted a few weeks ago are loving what we’re getting! Cheers to fall planting 🍻
I don't use weed barriers. I find the mulch breaks down and weeds love to grow right on top of the barrier, so it's pointless in my opinion. I'm a weed picker. Like I do it when I'm having coffee, or just want to daydream. My biggest weed problem is dollarweed - super hard to get rid of.
I love those mums! I always like to look for the different ones as well! Thanks for another great video! :)
Awe, thank YOU for your sweet message! Have a great night.
The mums are beautiful. Definitely cheerful. Thanks for sharing. I purchased mums today for my front porch. Take care. See you next time.
Awesome - enjoy your new beauties bringing some seasonal color to your property! See you next time!

I understand what you are saying about tropical plants living here in Texas zone 9 it’s only so much I can do…lol
@thomasphillips6612 Haha, yes! There's definitely only so much you can do. 😁

Moved to 8a from NY 10 years ago. Yes! It is better to plant in the fall! The spring through summers here are brutal to plant development.

Hope the flooding has been minimal for you! I’m more inland and have had about 1.5” over the last 24hrs.

Hi Nicole, what fertilizer do you use?
Hi! I use the Plant Tone granulated fertilizer in the spring, then I use Miracle grow water soluble fertilizer throughout the growing season.
Thank you so much. Throughout the season, how often?
I have to ask about weeds.. do you use weed barriers ?
I don't use weed barriers. I find the mulch breaks down and weeds love to grow right on top of the barrier, so it's pointless in my opinion. I'm a weed picker. Like I do it when I'm having coffee, or just want to daydream. My biggest weed problem is dollarweed - super hard to get rid of.
