Hi cutie! This is coming from a Licensed Advanced Cosmetologist over 30 years. A quick color lesson, lol. We lift hair color or bleach it to remove color. When we make it lighter, we are taking color out. When we go darker or red, we have to fill the color back in that we took out. Thats what you did those first two times, you just didn't know it. You did it right, just didn't realize what you were doing! It looks great and you did perfect!! When you are putting color back in the hair, going darker or red, 10 volume will do the job. It's better for the hair too. 20 volume and up is good for lifting color out or covering gray. You really did great, hope what I said makes sense to you! I love this!!
I too broke the henna cycle this summer. After 2 years the color was SO dark even though I was only doing the roots. It was not copper. Looking back at pictures it kind of makes me sad my hair looked like that for so long. So I too bleached it out of my hair, rocked an unflattering strawberry blonde this summer and then dyed it back to copper with CHEMICALS and I could not be happier!! Welcome BACK to the land of copper hair!! I prefer it over the blonde, just like on myself ❤️
I had an idea that the darkening is because the roots, which haven't had the chance to be bleached by the sun, are darker naturally than the rest of the hair. So if you're always hennaing the roots as they grow out, your overall colour becomes darker. ??? Just an idea. I'm going for a true, rich, mermaid red colour rather than copper, and I'm still finding that the ends are still bright red but the top half of my head is more of a burgundy/brown colour
First things first, you look great in both colours. As for this colour, it looks super natural as if not even dyed. So, it's for your mood to decide because you look nice either way.
Thanks! The day I dyed it, I had a woman compliment it and told me it looked sooo natural, which I don’t think I’ve ever been a copper that looked this natural 😅
Love the soft red on you it’s more feminine and natural. Even tho you’re bright red hair is what I first noticed in you, I think this is the perfect snowy ginger colour for winter! Stay safe girl :)
I LOVE this color on you!!! Honestly, I found your videos at the start of quarantine, and they inspired me to go from platinum blonde to copper. It's been a little struggle because, as you saw when you did your first mix, it's hard to get pigment to stick to really light hair, especially when you still want it to be light. A few tips I learned were to not attempt level 10's and stick to only a small portion of level 9's. Or, alternatively, choose a level 7 or even 6 and do a half and half ratio with a 9. Sometimes the area where my old platinum grew out still seem a bit washed-out because I never properly filled the hair before coloring over it with a permanent dye. When I start to notice it, I do a DIY color treatment of Adore semi permanent dye and conditioner to refresh the color and give it the slightest orangey gold kick. Not sure if any of that helped at all, but I figured I'd throw it out there if you started to experience the same thing!
Looks really pretty! Have you tried redken shades eq gloss? It tones and add a beautiful shiny tint to hair. Its very pigmented and if your looking to try something new without dying your hair, its great for experimentation. I love it
You are so beautiful with both colors… and I’m dead laughing at your puppy having input on dying your hair. 😂😂😂 so stinking cute . Love your channel ♥️♥️♥️
Prefer you redhead definitily :) Youre the one who made me start dying my hair with henna many years ago now and I have never been this happy about my hair and felt this much like myself. I dont think I will ever stop dying my hair red. I love it, its really become my identity.
You're hair is amazing in both shades! And the copper is so beautiful and natural looking too! Im a natural blonde and youve just inspired me to try copper heehee :) been subscribed for a while now and love your videos, you have such a lovely, peaceful and sunshine kind of vibe! Keep it up :)
What hair dye did you find for your copper red?? I'm trying to do the same and we have around the same hair with natural at the roots and lighter at the bottom! I need to know!! haha
I tried Chi hair dye and didn't like it. I always go back to clariol . My natural color is dishwater blonde but I have alot of freckels and copper hair looks so natural on me.
Honey you are addicted to dyeing your hair :D Love the dog oracle ;) YAY THE RED IS BACK!! The gorgeous copper is my favorite hair color on you. I'll do the friend thing and support your fashion choices but - sorry, always gonna love the copper best! :D That wasn't a fail, that was a miracle!! I love it, I'm amazed you got that from random stuff lying around your house and a rush job.
THIS IS GREAT!! This is a little lighter than my natural hair color and I went blonde over quarantine and wanted to go back to my natural color. USED HENNA! but it was over super cool tones so it just went brown. tried to remove it, and the color remover ended up having lightener, and I was yellow with muddy green tones. tried a permanent dye over it and it went brownish-black with some red. I've been waiting to find the right combination of hair dye and this was definitely the closest!!
I am a professiona, do not use 20vol in previously light hair! You need a semi permanent dye, like Igora Vibrance. And you need a PERMANENT color for the roots that are natural...
Hey you did great the only reason it didn’t come up the first time was because it need to be filled in cause of how light your hair was it didn’t have pigment to grab on too except for your root area but love the outcome and that you didn’t give up
Ahhh anyone know how to keep red hair on your hair? I’m blonde and dyed it a pretty dark copper and after washing it once it’s already super light!!! Love your hair and your videos!!!
@@CourtneyVioletta I mean I might be wrong! But from what I’ve read or watched on other videos was that when depositing color you don’t need more than 10 volume! But I might be wrong!
Mainly because I just spent soooo long trying to remove it, and don’t want to have to go through that again one day! Henna is great for making the hair healthy and strong, but I want to be able to change my hair when I want to, which I wasn’t able to do before. I can make a video on this if you want 😌
I think in the first attempt, you used a shade that was too light. Level 9 shades on pale blonde or bleached hair either tone the hair or won’t take at all because there’s not enough primary pigment in level 9 colour and there’s very little to no pigment in bleached hair for the colour to grab onto. You used a level 7 in your second attempt, which is why the colour took. The lower the level, the more primary pigment there is in the colour.
Aw I’m sorry! I will continue to use natural herbs on my channel every now and then. I’m so grateful I used henna for as long as I did, it taught me how great natural herbs can be for making the hair strong and healthy 😌
Yesss because it’s so hard to remove and I’m not going through that process again 😂 I liked that it was natural and made my hair healthy, but I like going blonde once in awhile and it was kind of a nightmare of a process to do that with henna lol
Hairstylist here 😍 Next time use a Demi permanent color with 10 volume. You’re only depositing and not attempting to lift and I don’t see any gray in your hair. 20 vol is equal parts lift and deposit. You’re looking for tone on tone. So glad to see you going back to red!
@@CourtneyVioletta Are you shopping at Sally’s? Shoot me a DM on Instagram and maybe I can send you some product! The problem with red is that the molecule is extremely large, so it leaves the cuticle quickly. Are you using a professional sulfate free shampoo intended for colored hair? I am a redhead as well, and the most effective things to prolong your color are good shampoo, only washing the hair 1-2x a week, and a color depositing conditioner. A color conditioner has a bit of semi-permanent direct dye in it, so it refreshes your color every time you use it. I will be honest, a professional level hair color is going to work better. Send me a DM and let’s chat! I’ll do some research on Sally’s and see what I think is good there! My insta name is magic and hair 🤎
Don’t get me wrong you can rock any hair color, you are gorgeous but for me red hair on you just hits different I don’t know why, it’s like you are meant to be a redhead lol 💖
LOL I’m still confused 😂 Do you know why it would have done that? I didn’t want to use a darker red only because I wanted it to be more of a strawberry blonde/ light copper rather than going right back to the color I was lol
@@CourtneyVioletta Honestly it does this to me everytime too! whenever I want a lighter blonde or lighter red but still want the depth of the shade I chose, It never works if it’s lighter than an 8. I think there is just not enough depth in those colors past the 7. It SHOULD have worked out exactly as you wanted with the colors you chose the first time . But they lie LOLOL

From a natural redhead, it does not look fail 😊❤️ I think the red hair suits your eyebrows more and make you look more fresh ❤️
Yay! You look great as a blonde too, but I defo prefer you as a redhead. It's your iconic look! :)
Hahaha 😂 I feel like it definitely stands out more!
You are born to be a red head....meant to be.
Court check out the Rita Hayworth style on utube. It’s you girl. I think you are channeling Gildas look from the movie.
Looks great! What were the final colors and measurements used?
The last time you did it, what products did you use?
I knew you'd eventually go back to copper! 😏
🤪
This color is the real Courtney! Love it!
looks so incredibly natural! love it
Can share what proportions of the colours you used?

definitely as a ginger, it suits you so well! 🧡
What was the shade of the last colour you used 😍 Need this right now it’s so natural
What was the formula you used? it’s beautiful!
What did you use at the end ?

Ooh thank you! Do you know if it is sold online?
How did you avoid getting hot roots? When I do this from blonde I always get super hot roots.
I love copper blonde. What was the second formula you used. Xxoo
If you want it to actually deposit red I would not be using any level 8 or 9's I would stick with level 7 or 6 reds and coppers just to be safe!
Your voice is very soothing😍 have you thought about doing asmr? Love the hair btw!
Final result 💋💋 better than before💗
Can I ask why you used 20 volume instead of 10? I want to do my hair like this

This color looks sooooo natural!
I'm going to leave the most unhelpful answer ever but I really think you look fantastic either way. 🌻
What hair color did you use I've been trying to achieve that color for so long

Both but if I had too choose for you I think I prefer copper/redhead!!
the final result is awesome!!
Both colors turned out so beautiful ! even the fail I feel like looked really nice :)
Oh my goodness. This colour is EVERYTHING. I'm coming from the other direction (naturally brunette) but wanting to end up basically this exact colour.
Been doing my own for some years with no problem. Have the colors or developers been changed, I wonder!

I like that you go back and forth between red and blonde over the past few years. Lol
The copper😍. It’s my dream hair color. I have dark brown hair and wish I could pull it off without damaging it. It looks so beautiful on you.
Ahhh anyone know how to keep red hair on your hair? I’m blonde and dyed it a pretty dark copper and after washing it once it’s already super light!!! Love your hair and your videos!!!
Try Revlon nutri color in shade 740 or other color conditioner. They help to maintain the copper shade until the next dye :)
I’ll need to learn some tips for this as well 😂😅
The reason it didn’t work the first time us because you used 20 volume developer which lifts the hair and your hair did not need lifted anymore.
Hmmm I was assuming the 20 would make the red go deeper into the hair 🤔

This video was gorgeous! Almost poetic. You have such a soothing voice. You need to do ASMR! Love the hair btw.
