      Great idea! I've done a few things down town, but I've always wanted to go back and branch out of that area to see what the city is really like!!

    Hey Laura, I subscribed to your channel to get ideas for my road-trips in the US. I’m happy to hear you’re planning to discover Europe! As a Swiss guy, I recommend having a look at Swiss and German destinations. I’m happy to help you if you need more ideas. 😊

    • @LauraOnTheMove
      @LauraOnTheMove  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the ideas and offer to help! I feel like there is so much to explore across Europe. And there will be a lot of US destinations this year so I'm happy you're following along!!

      I definitely will. We‘ve finished planning our upcoming road-trip. Chicago- New Orleans - San Antonio - Chicago in four weeks in May. But more ideas are always welcome. Btw, when your planning your trip to Europe: Don’t forget to check high-speed trains between cities. And in Switzerland you can reach virtually every town comfortably and fast by public transport.

    Boston. There is a lot to see and do. Lots of history. Include Faneuil Hall. A side trip to Provincetown, MA could be done with Boston if you have a long weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures this year.

      Boston is a great idea! I haven't had a chance to go yet and would be perfect for a weekend! Thank you!!

    Sequoia is an amazing park- one of my favorites. Visit Monaco. You should do the big trail on Isle Royale in Michigan.

    • @LauraOnTheMove

      The trail across all of Isle Royale! I needed reminded of that one and can't wait to do it some day! I will add Monaco to our list. It looks like it would be so pretty!

    Looking for a new trail? Have you considered the Appalachian Trail. You could follow Grandma Gatewood's steps. ; )

    Hi Laura! It's good to see you on TH-cam again! Let's see, travel suggestions... 1) Europe - that's a tough one since there are SO many beautiful places to see there and it kind of depends on your preferences, i.e. UNESCO sites? Cathedrals, or Museums? That being said, the top places on my own "European Bucket List" (because others who have been there told me they were great), that I have not yet been to are: Dubrovnik, Croatia; Bruges, Belgium; and the Alhambra in Spain. But my favorite place that's I've been to in Europe is Ireland. I'd go back there in a heartbeat. So many places to see and things to do and they're close together and everything is SO GREEN! 2) US Cities - again so many options, but one of my favorite cities to visit in the US is New Orleans. There is so much to see and do there - I highly recommend the World War II Museum and the food is so delicious it's on another plane! The music is great too. I'd suggest taking a Segway Tour and/or a Culinary Bike Tour. 3) Hiking - you've done some great hikes in the US National Parks, so besides going back to Shenandoah and doing a hike there (especially in the Fall) I'd suggest hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have several books/hiking guides describing both short and long hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which you can borrow if you'd like. Happy travels! I look forward to watching your adventures.

      Hi Beth! Thank you for all of the recommendations! Croatia is a big front runner for our summer trip, I'll have to do some research on Dubrovnik. I also really really want to go to Ireland, but that maybe a separate trip too. I love the idea of going to New Orleans for the weekend. I've never been and I agree the food would be a huge highlight!!

    If you are visiting Paris again. Take the train out to Chateau De Versailles and do a paddle boat on the Grand canal and explore the gardens. It’s magnificent ❣️ in the states not sure if you have done the Mt Hood loop including Timberline lodge.
    We love exploring with you. Safe travels and enjoy every minute ❤

    I would never recommend going to Philly in July or August. It is horrible and hot. Extremely hot. It sucks. Unless you go 4th of July week or weekend whatever it falls on, then it is worth it. After that, I would wait until September. But just remember Football season will cause traffic in the city. I use to live in Philly and worked downtown. So I know when to visit Philly. You may try going towards Christmas time in Philly. It's very beautiful time to visit as well.

      Great to know! Thank you! We have direct flights from my city to Philly, so I will end up there eventually. I'll have to plan a trip before late summer!!
