I am going to guess it's because they wanted to make alt versions of each mage, one for each gender. Atleast, I am assuming that is their plan, as one of the expanions adds a male priest and a female beastmaster. They are slightly different then their core counterparts, and it makes for a more diverse game. I hope they continue this and release other versions of each mage.
Kinda cool. Although I wish it didn't perpetuate the sexist status quo regarding gaming culture. Why not have both a male and female version of each mage class?
This game is ridiculously sexist. My partner bought it and I can't even bring myself to play it. 1) The rules written about "a player" are all written using exclusively male pronouns. So, I can already tell this is not made for me. 2)The only female character is essentially wearing lingerie whereas all the male characters are wearing badass armor/robes. WTF?!?!
I know this comment is old, but I just wanted to note that this isn't the case in the later expansions. Core set angels (+ guardian angel) and priestess are indeed very sexist but the academy priestess/angels are pretty bad-ass women. I use academy priestess art for Arena now. The game made a big mistake and they probably did it because they were insecure about sales in order to "attract" males. I believe they now realise this was a mistake.
Just stumbled across this game second hand, looks really fun
I love the devotion they have for the game :) nice videos!
