- TriMet marked Earth Day on Monday by introducing five of the new 24 battery electric buses it plans to put into service this year. The buses will join 10 battery electric buses already in service.

We had em at ctran for months.
They're more expensive to operate and cost more to acquire - meaning higher fares and lower levels of service and thus lower ridership so they end up taking fewer cars off the road.
I would think they would be more expensive to purchase and harder logistically with charging, but cheaper on fuel and maintenance. I still think your point about overall higher costs and what that means is correct. Electric busses can be quite a bit more comfortable to ride due to reduced noise. Maybe that will help with ridership?
@@mr.vash42 Yes, the biggest benefit of electrification went unmentioned in the segment! Making buses quieter is great for riders, pedestrians, and neighbors.
