I'm so happy this concert was filmed and has now been posted. I blundered past Valley stage taking a brief break from Flotsam and Jetsam next door and was instantly captivated by their sound. They managed to transform the extremely hot sweaty metal audience into some kind of crowd of baroque theatre watchers. Such great musicians! And Sara Bianchin my goodness 😱 was one of the main highlights of Hellfest. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

That sums it up better than I can. Just watching this performance is challenging (in a good way). I'm filled with a ton of emotion. Can't imagine being there. There is a transcendent piece to this where it's not just a musical performance. It's pure art.
I've seen them twice this year and I'll see them every time I have the chance. They are mesmerizing live 🤘

I just saw that they’re playing a tiny little bar/venue in Nashville. I imagine it will sound amazing there. And I love small intimate shows.

can't believe my band got to open for them in Liverpool! amazing music, lovely people. easily one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Close hasn't left my turntable in 6 months (may need a new copy soon - it's quite scratched!). If any of the members of Messa are reading this please come back to Liverpool!!!!

Wow...just discovered your band today as you were mentioned by a youtube music show reviewer for your Motocultor show, then I listened to the "Close" album, was blown away, and had to check this live show video too...Very brave & beautiful A Capella start, btw...I love how wide your sound & music is and how interesting this fusion is too, and of course absolutely gorgeous vocals ! Bellissimo....Some mentioned The Gathering (Anneke period), and other bands influence, I can feel it for sure, but, as much i love The Gathering, for me the influence is tamed, and you're pushing things way further, musical ambition wise....Greetings from France !

Agreed. And yes, her vocals are amazing. This is not “just another Doom band”, not at all.
I’d go as far to say that, if Windhand were the band that bears the TorchOfDoom and carries it as a shining example of what Doom is; then I’d say that it has been relinquished by Windhand and passed on to Messa as the new TorchbearersOfDoom, hands down. No one else compares right now.

@@HairBilly Non credo sia troppo possibile. O meglio ti posso benissimo spiegare ma non fa così ridere dall' esterno. Io e Sara una sera stavamo parlando dei misunderstanding che a volte noi italiani abbiamo di fronte alle canzoni in inglese e mi rivelò che in un live, qualcuno, in quel punto di "Leah" credeva dicesse appunto "bel locale" invece che " raise your chalice". Tutto qui 😉

@@zergerer6668 very interesting sound. I guess to the fingers it gives same sensation of a 12 string guitar
I'm also mainly interested in how it contributes to the dynamic of his bass sound which is often doubling like a heavy distorted rhythm guitar. It's hard to get a bass with distortion to occupy the same sonic territory to be a true rhythm backer and keep your low end clean as well. You can sort of do it by splitting your frequencies with a good amp and diverting the sound into a guitar amp, but it's still a bit reedy. The octave string probably adds a lot of bite when you feed the high end into a guitar amp.
@@zergerer6668 maybe its aluminium neck contributes . Saturday i was at a gig, this guy had a kramer guitar with alluminium neck . Plugged into a vox tube amp, through a ehx pog ( also proco rat and big muff on the pedalboard) it sounded amazing. So powerful , so edgy. It was a small crowded club without any mics in front of amplifiers. A noise duo from italy. Guitar and drums. People was headbanging their shit off. Amazing .definitely worth to try those instruments.
I bet there were a few people there who hadn't heard them and crapped themselves on the spot.
