@@AB-tm9eb thank you someone had to say it! Look at the last replay where the hell are the defenceman? A goalie can’t play two positions at once lol why hate on Smith so much. He did as good as he could on that play
@Only Green Lol you must of missed his time in Phoenix and Calgary, the guy would wave his arms up in the air giving the stink eye to his teammates after almost every goal.
Craig Simpson is clueless, the crossbar reference is if it goes directly in to the net. This is a "knocked down with high stick" call that refers to a puck contacted by a stick above the players shoulders that then goes directly to a teammate or to the player himself. The replay angle @1:39 shows it was at the shoulders but not definitively above and since it was then shot into the net legally by the player the height in relation to the crossbar is irrelevant.
“What a team effort” is an issue with many teams. They load up on one line, then fill in the rest with discount players. Somehow they think they can win a Stanley cup with that strategy. Everyone on the AVS have done their part, everyone steps up, it’s the only way to win.
It's the year because the last time they won the cup they had roy and he was a former habs player now you have Lehky who also is a former habs player and both of them were first years in Colorado when they made the finals.

@@AEMoreira81 he could have legally knocked that puck down to himself because it was shoulder height which is fine for a puck that doesn't go directly in. So Smith touching it didn't really negate a high stick, but if it had gone directly in it wouldn't have counted.

I'm surprised they stick with video evidence, and not just use math. The average NHL player is at least 2 feet taller than the crossbar at 6'1". Even if a player is leaning slightly forward, there's almost no way to not touch the puck at shoulder height and have it be below the crossbar.
@@spoof1234 a deflection resulting in a goal must be below the crossbar. Otherwise it must be at or below the shoulders. In other words, high sticking = hitting the puck above your shoulders. Looks to me like the puck was even with the top of his shoulders when he deflected it. But I’m an Avs fan.
@@Walter2325 I'm a Caps fan, so I dont have a dog in this fight. It's late, and you are 100% correct that the puck didn't go directly in so the crossbar is irrelevant. However, my statement still stands in general for pucks that do go in.
@@ErinGnarkill Shoulder in regular game play, crossbar whan scoring a goal. Now, I am not sure what is the factor when scoring off the rebound, does the crossbar still count or is it the shoulder? You can't score or create a scoring change with a high stick over the crossbar. We owe Lekkie a lot this playoff run, definitely appreciate this guy!
As usual, Mike Smith blaming anyone but himself
@Only Green we forgot they were a final 4 team… after that embarrassment!
Let’s go Avs bring it home!!
not at all mike smiths fault he made the first save off a tip and no oiler was within 10 feet of the rebound. The oilers have no depth witch is fine for the first round and sometimes the second but when you have a team like the avs getting over 40 shots a game you're gonna lose no matter who's in net.
He said a bunch of incorrect stuff on the onside Makar goal earlier in the series too
Wow, been 21 years since Avs went to final
Красавицы !!!
LET’S F%^*ING GO AVS!!!!!! WHAT A TEAM EFFORT!!
LETSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“What a team effort” is an issue with many teams. They load up on one line, then fill in the rest with discount players. Somehow they think they can win a Stanley cup with that strategy. Everyone on the AVS have done their part, everyone steps up, it’s the only way to win.
Hard to root for a team with so many scummy players
Kassian, Nurse, Keith, Kane...
Nearly a KKK line there
I bet Kane had at least 10 Large on the AV's
im glad the avs sent his broke ass mini golfing
LET GO AVES !!!
lets goo lehky!!!!!!
Comeback is real 🤘
Lehkonen clutch
It's the year because the last time they won the cup they had roy and he was a former habs player now you have Lehky who also is a former habs player and both of them were first years in Colorado when they made the finals.
We will know when MTL will win it ... Canada's team
@@gabrielmarcotte1905 and that will never happen in the near future
lightning will be waiting.
I think the Avs are patiently waiting.
@@dereks1848 true, colorado is already in. been a while since anyone west of the mississippi has won.
commentator wrong here, high stick is measured from your shoulders if it's not directly redirected to the net, then it's from the crossbar
Awesome game, goals were all soo close in each game, congrats to both teams, they put on a hell of a game! Wish the avalanche luck in the finals!
Hyvä Arska!
Forget for a moment that it happened in consecutive years - has anyone EVER scored two separate overtime goals to send their team to the Finals?
Not shocked at all people were overrating the Oilers before the series even started I knew they were getting swept before the series started
Your sooo smart Bogger
@@petermoroz6556 *You're* .
@@petermoroz6556 You're
I actually feel the devastation in the Oilers Fans. They were so into it and with that lead, I could see why. I ate through my fingernails tonight. But.....Go Avs and love the outcome.
I wasn't really surprised by this outcome, Colorado has shown throughout the playoffs this year they can score practically 5+ goals a game. If a team can't generate a big enough lead, they're in trouble once the Aves get going. Closest game we had all series with Edmonton but a sweep was just meant to be.
Hyva Lehkonen!!!. Suomi sisu!!!
Noone doubted it was gonna be 4 straight.
Mike Smith tried to say that it was a high stick, but that wasn’t going to change anything with his performance. The guy got absolutely cooked in the 3rd period and blew a 3-1 lead.
It was a high stick. But then the puck hit Smith’s stick to negate it.
@@AEMoreira81 he could have legally knocked that puck down to himself because it was shoulder height which is fine for a puck that doesn't go directly in. So Smith touching it didn't really negate a high stick, but if it had gone directly in it wouldn't have counted.

Only beat the flames because of the shot defence we had. Oilers can only outscore their problems, so much
I know it was a sweep, but that series seemed closer than that. Great hockey!
It was similar to the 2nd round against the Flames except roles reversed. Back and forth close games, but one team made all the plays when it counted.
when does mike smith's contract expire? Can't come soon enough!
1 more year of misplayed pucks resulting in goals, Bad five hole goals, weak shortside goals and diving flops and flinging his helmet off once a game to watch.
none of the games are on him. he defiantly didn't steal any games but there wasn't a single game this series that the avs didn't have over 40 shots. mike smith did more in this series than mcdcvid did.
It was really close. I am amazed that with the number of cameras in there not a single one gave a definitive look.
@@spoof1234 shoulder is what matters though not the crossbar
@@ErinGnarkill Shoulder in regular game play, crossbar whan scoring a goal. Now, I am not sure what is the factor when scoring off the rebound, does the crossbar still count or is it the shoulder? I remember the rule being that if a high stick results in a goal or an immident scoring opportunity aka rebound or puck deflects from another offensive player, then the crossbar is the factor. You can't score or create a scoring change with a high stick over the crossbar.
Since I could not find that rule anymore, I believe it has been removed since video review has been introduced into NHL. That rule might still be in use in leagues where there is no videos. Not sure.
Oilers should be proud of the great season they had, no hard feeling, Avalanche were just the better team.
Not directly into net. High stick becomes shoulder ht.
Last year, Lehkonen sent Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Final. This year, he did the same this time with the Avalanche.
21 years Colorado vs 28 years Rangers
Both defenders watched the puck
Eastern Canada salutes you thank you Avs for eliminating a one horse town called Deadmonton
No solid Edmonton goalie resulted in a sweep!
I dare you all: Type "Lehkonen ot" in to the TH-cam search and see the first 2 results. Tells you why it's a good idea to get Artturi Lehkonen in your roster!
Back to back Campbell trophy winners
Once Min and Cgy were out, no one was left that had any real chance of stopping this Avs team from making the final. At this point, I just want to see Kadri lift the Cup
I'm a Flames fan, but I doubt Calgary would have stood any chance against the Avs. If they were in top defensive form like they were in round one, maybe they could have won a game or two, but that's assuming it's even possible to defend that well against Colorado.
@@st0rmchild I would have gone Avs in 6 against Calgary. Avs were a bad match for Edmonton, and beat them in their own game.
I wanna see Kadri speared in the cup.
@@st0rmchild The Blues almost forced a game 7. They were pretty close to knocking out the Avs.
Crossbar does not matter. It was not deflected into the goal. A save was made, the rebound was put in for the goal. The puck was clearly below the shoulder. Good goal.
Suck it, Canada.
Arrturi Lehkonen is the hero tonight.Wherever he goes, he is loser, that's Miky Smith. I didn't see a high stick over the cross bar. I remember when was with the Coyotes. L.A Kings beat him and the desert dogs in 2012 or 2014. I don't remember. He wacked Dustin Brown on the legs. Since that incident Mike Smith lost every playoffs. Does anybody remember when he was with Calgary Flames? Yep! He lost in the playoffs too. I remember the last time Avs won a Stanley Cup was way back in 2001-02. Patrick Roy was their goalie in 2001 when they won the Stanley Cup. They are due for another Stanley Cup. 21 years in the making. Congrats Avs, and their fans. Sugar Kane probably crying in his couch tonight.
I’m an Oilers fan and I was pissed at the refs. I was so mad and thought for sure it was a high stick. The angle was just bad, and I went through another angle frame by frame and it never made contact with his stick. It bounced off of Smith and he scored. I am pissed we lost but yes, that was sadly a goal…
It looks to me like it hits the heel of Lehkonen's stick just below his shoulders, which makes it a good goal.
@@jaggedskar3890 In frame by frame, it didn’t look like it hit his stick. If it hit his stick, it would’ve stopped there and dropped but it kept on going then hit Smith. I hate to say it as an Oilers fan, but it was a goal…
@@Sportzy50 of course it hit his stick, the puck dropped about 4 feet just before hitting Smith.
And with this goal he assured that the Habs would get Lane Hutson
