What a transformation with just a coat of primer! Reminds me of my days as a landscaping contractor, the customers always complained about why it was taking so long. Never mind the lot was the edge of a swamp a few months before and the builder buried all sorts of debris under the clay he brought in to dry up the lot. All that had to be dealt with laying irrigation system and planting trees and shrubs plus addition of top soil etc but oh when we rolled out the sod and it all came together they were singing a different story. Nobody appreciates all the hard work that goes into a project except the people who do the work.
Side note: their house started rotting six months after they moved in and actually resulted in a class action suit but my grass and shrubs still looked awesome.

when i built my fishing dingy16 ft i did the under hu8ull bright yellow for easy visual if overturned at sea. with dark green topsides and soft pale green inside. white gunwales and spray rails.

nice! - I though I would mention that I put a curved fillet on the underside of the spray rail where it meets the side. I also try to keep a sharp radius on outer bottom edge. I think both make a difference sending water out and down off the rail.

It looks good and it seems like it went on without any problems. I will be interested to hear your evaluation when it's done.

Getting close to turning this boat over. That is a neat trick with taping the rollers to remove loose fibers. Were you using short fiber or foam rollers? Good job. Take care and stay well.

Sorry I wasn’t clear about that. I’m using the fiber rollers which work good on most anything on a wood boat I will use foam on fiberglass for a real fine finish.

Have you gone into what type of plywood u use? is marine grade essential or can exterior be used?
How much is marine grade now?
    thanks

The plywood is Meranti, Philippine mahogany, marine plywood. Marine grade is not essential but the cost is not that much different, it has a much better finish then fir plywood.

The only surprising thing is the fact you didn't fibreglass the sides of the boat too? At least past the water level when loaded. Is it not necessary. Lovely looking boat mind, well done!!!

The Fiberglass is not for waterproofing it’s for abrasion.

High build primer is used as part of the fairing process. You are supposed to first fair the entire hull...not just a few spots. When fair, you apply two or three coats of high build & sand that back off to show your lows. Fill those lows with fairing again, sand, and high build again with a guide coat. Repeat until the guide coat comes off clean. THEN you use finish primer & paint.

Don't see the point of fairing the entire boat if you're already satisfied with the finish except for a few low or high spots. Are you a sandpaper sales rep by any chance?😁😁
