I remember I had a Palm TX back in the day and I loved syncing it and then reading the news of the day every morning on my subway ride to work. The apps were super expensive for what they were, but it was great because some models even let you use it as a phone when connected via Bluetooth.
Luckily many applications have been backed up for free, with many activation keys cracked. The TX is on my Palm wishlist! I would love to use my Palm as a phone in 2024.. i will have to check what alternatives.
@@toybox4743 I nerded out and created a Windows XP partition using VMware and started to install some apps. Unfortunately, because the Bluetooth version is so old, it won’t connect to any current phones. But, I can connect via wifi using my phones hotspot as long as it’s not password protected. You have motivated me to actually start using mine again.
I've used a Palm OS device since my Palm IIIe. The one i used longest originally was the Tungsten | E, the first one. It is amazing just how much you could and still can do with these. These days I use a Zire 72s the most but I am quite fond of the TX and LifeDrive. The E2 was most definitely a great successor to the already great E. I'm glad to see others can appreciate these~
Have one in a drawer, been there for close to 20 years. Can’t get excited about using it for anything. I mean I wish I could find some single purpose to dedicate it to, but other items just do everything better.
