Hey everyone out there. So ITS TIME for some old school Death Metal again! I wanna share the first song, “Fall of the Loyal Warrior” from my new (second) band Asinhell, taken from the forthcoming record Impii Hora, which is being released on Metal Blade Records. As many probably know I’ve been a Death Metal nerd since my school days and still am to this day, and I think it’s time to let the monster loose again. My friends Marc (Insidious Disease) and Morten (Raunchy) are joining me in the band, and this track also has some guest lead guitar from Flemming C. Lund and bass from Jacob Hansen. (No, this doesn’t affect Volbeat in any way, the two bands will exist at the same time!) Enjoy if you can , and if you can’t, that’s a bonus too! 😁👍. - Michael

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant Of The Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour), is a tribute to Poulsen's favourite old-school groups. The songs are rooted in crushing riffs yet injected with strong guitar hooks and shout-along refrains. "We're very excited to share the first taste of Asinhell with 'Fall Of The Loyal Warrior,'" says Poulsen. "The song is kind of a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They're the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we're proud to wear our influences on our sleeve. The album was inspired by late '80s and early '90s old school death metal, and one of our brightest points of inspiration was the mighty Death, fronted by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There's a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, the other being our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. 'Let the metal flow,' as Chuck would have said!"

Dominus - The First 9 is one of my favorite mid '90s "death metal" albums, actually It is more death/thrash/groove than traditional death metal but highly entertaining from beginning to end. I was never a big fan of the direction he took with the band Volbeat. Don't get me wrong it is good rock 'n' roll but it is not my preferred style. I am so glad that he has decided to lend his immense talents back to the death metal genre. I am very much looking forward to this album.
It doesn't matter how old you are just that you enjoy the music. I'm in my sixties I love this kind of music I like heavy metal I like him just real metal my kids say that I'm the oldest heavy metal person in the world I tell him no I'm not still lots of us old LOL out there listening to some great Tunes
I wasn't expecting to like this but I'm very surprised. It has this Malevolent Creation type of riffing that I really love with a touch of Death. I'm waiting for the album now!
I love Dominus and Volbeat so was intrigued to find out what it sounded like. I didn't know Mark Grewe was singing before i heard the song but you can't mistake those vocals. Great song.
This definitely has Death influence through out it. And I'm hear for it, because this was a banger from start to finish! It had a Living Monstrosity vibe right out of the gate.
I grew up with Michael Poulsen's Death Metal! my favorite band and album is The First 9 by DOMINUS, I have the cover tattooed on my leg! since Michael had talked about it in an interview, about a possible Death Metal side project I've been sifting through the net waiting for the great news! I WAIT WITH GREAT JOY TO LISTEN TO HIS NEW DEATH METAL! although I assume he won't be the ogre behind the mic due to his vocal cord problems... but his DEATH METAL RIFFs are old school Scandinavian and will raise the dead from their graves! DEATH 'N' ROLL VICTORY!

Paulsen sure has a lot of talent, bringing forth a constant good flow of superb hard metal music. The Volbeat performances are amazing, and with this ensemble it would be cool to see some live shows.
Beginning and ending is amazing. Just wish the muddle was better. Like the last 30 seconds, it shoukd be like the rest of the song. Starting at like 2:55 till endd. It just gets so good as its ending

I much prefer this over the weird James Hetfield/Eddie Vedder/Elvis mashup vocal style used in Volbeat, honestly. 😂 Could never really get into it! Definitely hearing a bit of Death influence here, which is cool!
