So cool. When Gene told me and my father that he was restoring the Mission Control room, I donated my father’s headset. The work he and others have done with the restoration is amazing!

So awesome that they restored the MOCR room here to its 1969 configuration and that Gene Kranz helped to spearhead such--this room is most definitely a part of history.
But, there's one little detail that caught my eye--the console displays look a little off, it looks like they replaced the original B&W CRT displays with modern-day LCD panels retrofitted into the bezels that originally held the CRTs--the displays look a little too flat to be CRTs (with their slightly curved faces) . I can see why they did this though, I'd hazard to guess that it was more than likely more practical and cost-effective from a restoration and maintenance standpoint to used LCDs instead, especially since CRTs, especially 12-15" monochrome ones, are probably quite scarce nowadays.
But overall, it looks great, very much like it was when Apollo 11 was in flight. Save for the flat LCD displays, it looks just like it did when Philco-Ford manufactured, installed and interfaced these consoles for NASA starting with the Gemini missions in 1965. Definitely on my bucket list to visit. :)

I was doing some work for one of the scientists there back in 2008 and he took me down into the actual room. I have pictures of me sitting at Gene Kranz's console. I didn't realize how fortunate I was until I saw that even Josh Gates from "Expedition Unknown" wasn't allowed down there and only got to be in the viewing section behind the glass upstairs.
