Hi BC, Charly and fur babies! Glad you didn’t lose power. It can be a pretty day and our power goes out. Interesting process making the Kydex sheaths, but the leather sheaths are my favorite, just something about leather. Have a blessed day and be safe!
On behalf of wives who have bad nights, and for that matter bad days, thank you for being considerate and spending time with her. You'd be surprised how little that happens and we really do appreciate it.
We have two things in common. Toaster ovens and a power grid that fails when wet. I have a toaster oven grave yard. BTW Those Kydex scraps make pretty good ,heavy guitar picks.(I love that stuff) I’m seeking a junkyard genius that has found a way to make a heat treating oven that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Maybe one that can make a pizza too. I know just enough about electricity to get electrocuted. If I can find a suitable temperature probe, I may experiment with bottled propane.
@@bctruck An oven that could anneal air hardening alloys would be super. I ,stupidly, forged some D-2 blades right off the rod ,using the rod as a handle and hot cutting the product off when finished. It’s air hardening steel and responds to every high heat event. Royal screw up. I did the same with some ATS-34. The remaining rod and bar ,after the heat events, “ain’t right “ 😫 Tony Bose, considered the foremost cutlery heat treater in the country, moved to Idaho to set up shop at Buck Knives. A few years back, before my uninsured forge and shop was demolished by mother nature, I called them and found that they were offering heat treating services for knife makers. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. Cheap enough to consider sending a dozen or so blades to them. They have all the big toys. Atmospheric controlled furnaces Rockwell hardness testing that’s guaranteed. Probably liquid nitrogen …ect. It may be worth your while to give them a call. Nice folks. I don’t know if they’re still doing it or if it’s still affordable. Plain carbon steels and spring steels like 5160 are easy and fun to process. Stainless alloys aren’t. If I can ever recover my equipment, I’ll probably stick to 5160, and 52100 . Stainless tool steels are heading to Buck if the services are still offered.
I was actually wondering how kydex works. If you are looking for another video topic, the kydex press video might be a winner. Extra super cool because I seen my knife in the video 😎
As always, thanks for sharing and for teaching. For adding to the collective body of knowledge for those new to the craft. I know I appreciate the knowledge that has been shared by you and others on solar cooking. I'm sure there are peopel who feel the same way when they're on their journey to become a bladesmith. BTW, your shop, your choice to call that heating instrument whatever you want to call it. 😎 A few names.... First Neck Knife Papa Neck Knife Genesis Neck Knife Origins Neck Knife 4 Finger Neck Knife Oh My! Neck Knife Whatyamacallit Neck Knife (Opps - that's a YT channel & a candy maker) Necker Neck Knife BC Neck Knife Swamp Mouse Neck Knife (companion to Swamp Rat) BTW, that's what happens to me when I begin summer hibernation, too early. Heat advisory, for today, has been issued. I pray for those who have to work outdoors in those conditions. Hope Charly is feeling better God Bless. Godspeed when you venture forth today.
I’m hoping I’ll be able to afford one before Christmas. Can you make a red white and blue edition? Red and white stone handle and maybe bluing on the blade is what I’m thinking. Power is over rated.

I enjoy making both types of sheaths but the leather is more satisfying.
Knowledge is attained by degrees. Thank you for instructing.
Thanks for watching!

having someone to bring your coffee or do things so you don’t have to get up when your back is out helps you heal faster.
Even though I have seen you make Kydex sheaths before this video showed some of the finer steps. Thanks.
I’m going to do one more video showing from start to finish, including where I buy the kydex and grommets.
that handle is awesome love that ebony ❤ cant wait to get it .
It polished up beautifully. I’ll likely be shipping today. Can you email me your address!
Thats cool ! TY o and 1st in a long time !
Winner!!
That was interesting to watch Brad.
I may do a start to finish video on making one.
well done thumbs up
Thanks!

If your not careful!
That was interesting. I like how Breezy likes to lay on the bench where SC did. It's like he's saying "See, you didn't need that cat."
They use to lay side by side on the bench. She would lick breezy but he was not I to it at all.

I would love a heat treating oven. You can heat treat and temper in the same oven. But like you said, I’d have to rob a bank to afford one.

The reason Brad's sheaths come out so nice is because Coach Breezy oversees the entire process.
He’s never far away. He’s overseeing the coffee drinking right now.
Have a good day.👍👍
Thanks! You too!

I’ll do a start to finish video on kydex, including the press.
Very interesting.. I gotta do this for a Kimber 45 with a CCR grip on it.
I’ve seen people for kydex under folded towels before.

I think 4 finger knife makes the most sense. I’m going to give a more in depth, step by step video on kydex.

I have blued blades before but it won’t last long in a kydex sheath.
I have been listening to stories of "Karens" getting poetic justice 😄
😂😂 I like the o es where the self righteous Karen’s get kicked out of the places they were trying to get someone else kicked out of.
