Bill Casey, if you're playing piano in the pit or musical directing, you got it just right, old friend. If it's not you, BRAVO to whomever it is. This guy as Floyd is breaking my heart.
I was in the ensemble for a production of FLoyd Collins and fell in love with the music. It was pretty hard but so worth it. I loved our set and all it's levels although we did have a guy fall through a trap on closing night.
You asked this 8 years ago, but I figured I'd reply. It's a cannon; the same part is playing again and again. Some productions use an echo on Floyd's mic and others have the ensemble sing it.
Sure. The show also opens with a system of echoes. Floyd is a spelunker (a person who explores caves, especially as a hobby) where there are always echoes. At the top of the show, when Floyd thinks he has discovered connecting caves, he breaks out into a joyous song which of course is echoed since he is in an underground cave. In performance, the echoes are on a click track. So, yes, it is a kind of a canon, re-purposed for musical theatre. Hope this helps. my right ear loved this song
This was one of the best productions of ANY show that I've ever seen. Honestly. It was that good. I've never cried so hard in a theater.

What a lucky audience!
Wow! this is one of my favorite songs from Floyd Collins! This guy is absolutely amazing!
I was almost tearing up by the end. I always cry when I hear this song, but I never got to see it staged until now. Thanks!

Just saw him in Book of Mormon on Broadway-what an incredible talent. One of my favorite pieces.
You can hear people crying. Wow.
Wonderful, wish I could've seen the whole show. (Heard a few sniffles in the audience!)
This song is so emotional and powerful that sometimes I feel like I can't watch it more than 5 times. But I still do :)
Nicely done
beautiful!
To be more accurate "Floyd Collins" should have a blanket around him that the would-be rescuers supplied because of the cold.
I got chills..... AWESOME
I AM BAWLING. So good. Favorite Adam Guettel song. :)
Incredible!
I fucking bawled. Fantastic.
Hey this is sick. Can someone explain the echos at the end? Is it a canon or just a bunch of separate parts. I can't really tell from the clip.
