Hi.. would you like to do a Blue Rim x other color but blue project in the future?

    • @BettaTerritory

Thank you for your suggestion. Blue rims however do not fit my personal goals/breeding program.

Hi I'm from Philippines, may I know what is the advisable allowance between top of tank ang water? To avoid the betta to jump over. Thank you.

Bettas can jump very well, I personally therefore always use a lid/cover on all my jars to prevent this. By using this I never had problems with fish jumping out to neighbouring tanks or on the floor.

@@BettaTerritory Thank you I will find a jar same as your jar. How many liters is the capacity of your jar? For one betta.

hello elder brother , nice here hope you are well there . as a small breeder, i have lost 3 big {approx. 300 fries in each spawn} because of nuisance by c;oudy water . i dont lnow the reason , i only give pellets after the fries have started free swimming to the male and if the food is untouched ill remove it. i dont add sponge filter ,aerator or heator coz i cant afford it instead i have a bulb which gives sufficient amount of heat . i dont water changes after 2 weels of free swimming. but now my spawn is just aged 1 week. i cant just touch the spawn and if i it would disturb the balance. what is the problem .should i add snails? or any thing else thank you

Your problem is fungus. Because the water is stagnant it becomes very easy for fungus to grow which will quickly kill your fry. Having a sponge filter will stop this from happening. You also need a heater unless you can constantly maintain water temperatures of 76 to 80 F (24 to 27 C). If your water temperature is too low then your fry will not develop.

@@DKong100 thank you ❤️ I'll follow your steps hope this helps me in my next spawn 🙏

@@dwarageshc7837 Also I would not recommend trying to breed anymore. Since you say that you cannot afford a heater or sponge filter. You need to prepare a lot before you breed bettas. If you can't afford even those two things then you can't afford any of the other things needed. You'll need a whole lot more than just a tank and some pellets. Even the cheapest heaters are only around $15, and sponge filters are around $30. If you're not looking to spend around $100-200 then you shouldn't try to breed bettas even if for fun. If you don't do it right then all you're doing is killing your fish, and that's the last thing you want to do as a fish keeper.

@@DKong100 hey hi ! I told in the meaning they aren't available in my local shops but have to order online . That's my word. More over am from India dude❤️ I can understand what you are saying , but the climate here is tropical , warm and pleasent except winter . I don't add sponge filter as it sometimes create vibrations which my bettas hate and sometimes end up in stress! I had grown over 3 complete spawns of 300 fries each friend. As is breeder am working not for just fun. But thank you your comment was valuable to me. You changed my mind towards heater and sponge filter❤️

@@dwarageshc7837 Ah, okay. I understand now. If you are not already using almond leaves you should be doing so. You should also try to use live plants. Snails can help reduce fungus, but not early on because they make more waste than your fry do. The reason you keep getting fungus is because you feed your male. You should be conditioning your male and female before you breed them. You should feed them 2 to 3 times per day for 1 to 2 weeks with a high protein diet before you breed them. If you do this then you won't have to feed your male after he breeds. He can stay with the fry for up to 7 days without eating. You can also keep your water quality up by cleaning out any poop left by your male. Just use a straw to siphon it out. After the first 7 days you can start adding water to your fry tank every 2 days. Just add 1/4 cup of water slowly. You should also only start out with 3 to 4 in (7 to 10 cm) of water this way you have less stagnant water. You want to slowly add 1/4 cup until you reach 5 to 6 in (12 to 15 cm). After that you want to take out 1/2 cup and add 1/4 cup. Do this until your fry are about 1 in (2 to 3 cm). At this point you can start doing bigger water changes, and can start cleaning out food waste. Also if you are using a tank make sure to cover it so that dust doesn't settle on the surface. If the surface is dusty your fry will have a hard time breaking the surface to breathe.
