The little side conversations you have with your mom. It's a privilege and these small things are the things I miss the most.

Im hmong but ive been an ethical vegan for years now and even though I feel werid about videos about animal products, I am so happy and grateful for your content because of the representation we need. I definitely needed videos like these growing up. Thank you for doing the work to make it happen. It honestly hits such a deep cord to see our youth and people like me exist on this space. Thank you

in all honesty, hmong people should go vegan. it's better for their health long term. Can't be eating fat and skins along with the good stuff of pork and beef at hmong gatherings nearly all the time. I envy you. Can't go vegan, it's hard.

@@PeanutButterAndJellyBros I was a huge meat head before I was vegan. Not even talking about the meaty organ heavy hmong diet, but korean BBQ twice a week and icecream after. You definitely can. You just gotta get your mind out of white food and realize that the food you love is also vegan too. Like hella Thai food. Indian food. Ate super good in Korea and Japan. Real foodies know. People just have mad paralysis over what they can't eat rather than what they can discover and make. It's super easy once you realize how to do it.

I'm pretty sure Hmong dishes are mostly vegan. Back in the old days in Laos in the jungle, Hmong people were always vegan. Having meat is once in a Blue moon for Hmong.

@@KingOfThePirates101 dude yeah. My dad is always talking about how they rarely ate meat. And obviously didn't drink milk. Super funny

thank you for sharing.. it looks so good and you are very blessed to be able to share such times together with family.. making new memories and remembering old ones.. a tip for all of the extra skin and fat from a chicken.. cook it on medium to a low medium heat in a cast iron skillet.. it seasons the skillet makes chicken cracklings for snacks or to mix in dishes and makes a nice golden yellow chicken lard to cook with.. and dont be scared to try the chicken butt

I also like adding lime/lemon to the second dish with salt, black pepper, cilantro, and green onions.
