I hope you guys enjoyed this one.. I did, even though I don't like Nurgle! 😅 If you want to support the channel, make sure to check out the links in the description 😀😀
Great job as ever, man. Anybody who says drybrushing is useless deserves a kick in the bollocks for perpetuating nonsense. It's a technique that has served miniature painters very effectively for decades, and will continue to do so.
I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the texture you can end up with from it, but with the make up brush and very little paint, it works well.. was ideal here. 😀
"What a lovely lovely voice." - Bane The models look really nice. Good job. And of course the wash-spill was a part of the project. It always happens to me too.
as an imperial guard player I feel this! most of my newer reinforcements for my hektarian guard (i came up with the name years before that recent faction for aos) still need to either be repainted from their previous owner's colours or outright primed
well done, great to see your progression with speed/batch painting one day you and I will have to link up and I will guide through another way to get those figures on the table.
Great work with some great tips! Thanks Ollie. The tesseract glow I would never have thought of, but it came up a treat and makes a great spot colour for the scheme!
One thing to be careful about is if you varnish ground cover/soil it might darken it a lot. I made that mistake and had to redo the basing to bring it back, the varnish soaked in and darkened it a lot.
Bang on job mate. I love a hobby short cut and you've gone through a host of them here. With £40 beginner air brushes on Amazon now too there is no reason why most punters can't invest in one and have a go too. All brush work you may have struggled for time unless you've done even more basic like a Death Guard Green or Grey primer rattle can before going to town with the washes.
Great job getting these done in a day, they look awesome. I just finished a similar (though not nearly as ambitious) project with a squad of 10 primaris infiltrators, and while I'm really happy with them I could still really benefit from some of these ideas.
It's all learning right!? 😀 I've failed too many 24 hour challenges, so thought I'd try and adapt to speed up.. I'm just a stickler for painting my best (average😅). Keep it up!
One thing that could make them really pop (I do it at least) is apply a thin coat of gloss varnish to all the fleshy and slimy parts. This gives them a really fleshy and wet look and gives them natural highlights because of the glossiness
That's good thinking 😀 I was thinking satin all over, then some nice gloss on the tentacles, keep them all goopy. I'll have a play and finish them up this week. These bois will make an appearance on the channel soon! 😀
What fantastic looking models, you did very well to get them finished in time and some very useful painting tips as well. What more could we ask for, thanks
This is pretty cool but I reckon you could smash these out quicker priming with like army painter colour primer and wash dry brush ect I crack out hoards like this
Yeah, there are definitely other ways o do this, if you were after SUPER speed painting. I quite liked the finish, and hate "rushing" my models. For sure though, slamming Washes on would get these lads out!
To avoid spilling your GW paint pots is very easy... either do not buy GW paints or buy dropper bottles and TRANSFER them to those new dropper bottles! I try to not buy GW paints because they are over priced and the painting pots suck! However every now and then I do find a good deal so I end up picking up those and then immediately transfer them to the dropper bottles.
I‘ve got a general question regarding airbrushing. I see so many channels just airbrushing on their living room table without any additional breathing protection/ventilation. However, when I do research online, everybody highly suggests spray booths and fans and so on. Is all this jazz really necessary when you‘re only using acrylics?
So good! I just recently got a air brush to paint mine and I’ve been using citadels “air” paints and it’s been clumping up real hard, then I thin it and it just sprays out with splatters? Any suggestions on what it could be from? I’ve done the obvious, different thinners, different sprays at different psi but still no luck 🤦🏻♂️
I'm British and you are the most British person i've ever heard lol, just bought my first space marines, excited to get into the hobby, just wondered do you play the game or just paint? Im only planning to paint mine Oh and this was a great video, you must have the patience of a saint
Haha, I've even started to lose my British-ness these last few years (living in Ireland), you should have heard me 10 years ago! 😅 I do play, yes. There are several battle reports on the channel already, with more to come this year! Painting is a grest part of the hobby, so just do whatever interests you. 😃 I really enjoy collecting, oddly.
@@BroadswordWargaming thanks for the reply, i've subscribed to your channel, i think for me figures look better without an airbrush (saying this because im watvhing the video again lol) or i actually think an airbrush is good for layering after you apply base coats etc. Look forward to seeing more videos
I had planned on spending my next two days off playing Xbox and drinking beer. After watching this, I'll be batch painting Flesh Tearers..... and drinking beer. 😉
Thanks for the video! I am basing my poxwalkers on your ideas and was just curious: did you see any different behaviour of the washes when putting them through the airbrush compared to regular brushing?
Hey, Ah cool! Yes, I find washes act more like a filter colour through an airbrush, rather than a trading wash (sticking to recessed areas). Use a combination to add some variety onto the models. 😀 I'm still quite happy with these guys for a day work! You can do it!
@@BroadswordWargaming yes, that makes sense. I may try Liquitex acrylic ink to see the outcome. Also, I substituted the base color with necrotic flesh from army painter. You made a good choice of colors, everything comes together nicely 👌👌

I have made a small dent in it. 😀 If anything, it's going to spur me on to finish a few projects and sell sone others. Still in the process of moving studio, so ill be able to have a good sort out soon. 😀
Bloody loved watching this one and some great advice even if you do look like a crazy person at 11.07 in the video and can I legally mock you different platforms for spilling the nulin oil 🤣? Also there is a plague bearer flesh contrast paint with is exactly the same as nurgles rot technical paint .
Then you'd best go get one so you can do your poxwalkers. 🤣 In fairness, you could do this with brushwork, same colours etc. Start it with a white zenithal from a spray can. Paint a VERY thin layer of the green and add patches of the washes. Drybrush the face back and then hit it all with a thin green wash. Easy. Sort of. 😅
Great video, I will be using this style on my walkers! They are based in the UK, so no idea if you might get stung with duty now, but fatbuddhastore.com have a great range of spray paints mail-order 👍
Yeah, I live in a pretty small town, in the west of Ireland. With lockdown on as well, there is no where I can buy spray cans I like atm. 😔 We don't have anywhere that stocks decent cans.

Thanks Euan. They'll be making an appearance soon.. eyes and all!
Great job on these, I always struggle with assembly line painting 😂
Me too, usually. I ended up enjoying this one though.. in the end. 😅

use something like that citadel triangle pot holder so you dont spill those shades/contrasts anymore, much more secure

hot glue a 80-100mm MDF circular base onto your shade pots to stop them tipping over.

I had to stop myself because I realized I'm watching videos on batch painting instead of sitting down and batch painting...
