I understand where you’re coming from. But it’s also a little tiring to see influencers getting Birkins and Kellys left and right. Like, we barely saw them a few years ago, now everybody has them, and not just one but several which is a little crazy considering how much they cost. It feels like people are trying to keep up with the latest thing and flex(unpopular opinion I know).
Whatever is in fashion at the time. Yes, previously it was Chanel and particularly the classic flap, now it’s Hermès, mainly B & K. Maybe there’ll be a reversal and next it will be Longchamp! I can join in with that one, haha.
As someone that has more than one Kelly and birkin I can say that my personal motivation is not to keep up with the latest thing. When I got my first birkin I thought that it wasn’t just the only bag I wanted but all my shopping needs answered! However, for a handbag lover, it can be addictive. The different styles, sizes, leathers and colours! They are expensive but like Jessie, I work hard and that’s where I choose to spend my money.
Jessie, once again I’m struck by how thoughtful and intelligent your videos are. You articulate so much of what I and many other handbag collectors think about as we navigate the curation of our collections. Your channel is so refreshing and interesting because it’s not just about showing your latest acquisition - there is real thought-provoking commentary behind it. You are right different people collect different things. I know people who collect cars. My husband and I collect properties. I personally love my luxury items and will continue to buy them. I haven't been doing this very long, but I have noticed that unboxings(luxury) or at least my unboxings definitely get the most views. I have to come up with other interesting content because I cannot keep up with that, lol. I'm not doing this for money, it's just for fun and to share an interest that I have with others that have the same interest. My husband and sons run the other way if I even mention the word bag and my circle of friends do not spend money on bags. The collection never ends. There will always be a new bag in a new color. It's relaxing to watch videos. It's like watching an interesting TV show.
We are bag lovers. They will never understand 🤭 Your collection is totally different since the beginning of this channel. I remember a lot of LV monogram bags on the shelves and I love that as much I love the bags you have nowadays. We get old and our taste is always changing.

As someone who collects fragrances I can safely say that there is no end goal … as I am a hoarder I really collect them instead of selling the ones I don’t necessarily wear. But … that’s how I do it 😂, mostly because I'm just too lazy to list fragrances somewhere. After all, it's just a hobby and passion like any other passion. As for handbags: I actually pulled the trigger on a pre-loved puzzle bag this morning after endless days and hours of research, pondering, comparing prizes, thinking about which size to get etc. The puzzle bag somehow made it onto my wishlist of luxury items about 3-4 years ago, but somehow I wasn’t willing to go through with it. I have to admit that I did something that might be frowned upon in the handbag community: I got a dupe (looks like a puzzle bag, but doesn’t have any branding) just to try it out and see whether the medium is big enough for my needs (it isn't as I'd like to be able to have my iPad in it that I need for work … so large it is). Then I saw your latest thumbnail with your puzzle nag in my feed and thought: just do it. I hope this is not the start of another collection 😂, although I have somehow always watched bag community videos thanks to Dacob, Romina and you. Oh, and I also once bought a very inexpensive used bag by Vivienne Westwood and don’t have any attention wearing it. It's a denim Yasmine bag that has a bookshelf with dystopian novels printed on it: the nerd and Vivienne Westwood fanboy just had to own it although I know that I don’t do top handle bags😳, but looking at it just brings me joy despite it being in an abysmal state (wrinkled, used and abused; but it definitely has got a story to tell). In short: just do you!
We grow, evolve, change our minds…enjoy and pass on the bags to others…and I am happy in the process!!! I’m not a TH-camr, and I loose money on each bag I sell…but I learn something each time, about what I love, what I don’t and it helps to refine my decisions going forward! 🥰💖🤗
I do think some people buy some bags just to make their selves look good and keep their collections relevant for TH-cam especially! And you can see once everyone got the 22 bag and made a complaint on it the whole TH-cam community started complaining about it there’s not a lot of content you can make you need to be creative! Hi Jess I enjoy watching your videos. I think people don’t mean to judge you, I think they simply wonder why you can afford to buy so many expensive handbags one after another in such a short timeframe. You mentioned in your former videos that you work really hard, but I think majority of people take their jobs seriously. I think it will be great if you can do a sit-down chat type finance videos. Your fellow youtubers like Classics with a quirk, Dayle from Dayle’s addiction or Conner from Conner’s closet did these types of videos and I thought it was really real.
You should never feel like you have to explain anything to anybody.. this is the reason I’m trying not to put all my bags and my whole designer collection on my TH-cam channel. I don’t wanna have to explain myself to anyone to deal with the hate or jealousy or whatever it might be from other people. I post just a glimmer.

I personally am not a fan of collecting nor hoarding handbags. I only have 1 luxury handbag which is a dark beige YSL sac de jour. Although I do plan to buy a black bag. I prefer something I can beat up in the long run and use everyday as I have no intentions on selling them whatsoever. So 2 luxury handbags is enough for me as long as it matches my style and most of my clothes are neutral anyway. But I don't really bother people who do love collecting bags especially people I DO NOT KNOW (if it was a family member then yeah maybe haha). May it be for their own vanity, for art, or as a part of their fashion career. If they like it, let them be. We can go on and on complaining about how "wasteful" it is, but honestly, people will spend on whatever they wanna spend. Who are we to dictate what they do with their own money? If you're the minimalistic type, good for you. If you're the extravagant one, you get a pat on the shoulder too. Let us mind our own business and let people indulge on their hobbies/lifestyle that doesn't harm others. Learn the subtle art of not giving a fck. Most people who complain about these things are the ones who can't even afford. I know for myself I cannot afford Hermes. But I do admire it on other people who has them.

You’re ability to let go of a handbag is just one of the reasons I enjoy watching you, it’s kinda reassuring to me who has a hard time letting go of a handbag that I once loved but now finds it just sitting there. It’s your money, you decide what you do with it. Same people that judge will go splurge on something else. It’s funny because you see men collecting watches and nobody care but women collecting handbags, suddenly it’s a shame. We can tell it’s a passion for you ( I do have the same passion) , keep doing what you love.
Jess, I will tell you something that took me YEARS to understand myself... When someone judges you, they obviously have a problem. But when YOU get offended or hurt by the judgment, you make their problem YOUR problem... It's a decision you make. See it as just that.
If a TH-camr is buying and selling bags solely for content: 1-no one is forced to watch any video or creator on TH-cam 2-for someone like me who isn't interested in spending that kind of money but still loves handbags, thank you! 😆I get that "inside look" at bags that I'd never buy but love to know about and see...for free! When I first started buying bags my goal was to have one from each design house. Now I’m changing it up and would like a smaller collection of blue bags I love. Blue is my fav color and I can always match it with everything. My only reservation is what if my daughter does not like blue lol. Also yeah I don’t really wear my bags. I think you earned the money, you decide what you want to spend it on. We all collect things. I buy antique gold jewelries. Do I need them? No. Do I want them in my possession? Yes. Some people spend hundreds of dollars in restaurants, foods, wines. I think no one should be judged. Even if you don't use your bags, so what? YOU decide for what you want to do with your belongings. People are just jealous of you that's all. I know it's hard, but try not to be influenced by people's agendas. On a side note. I do feel uncomfortable to use my luxury bags. I'm uncomfortable going out with branded bags. I feel like I would be targeted. I'm curious, do you ever feel that way when you take your bags out? Maybe it'd because I don't live in a big city. I rarely see anyone going out with a branded bag. I just want to enjoy my bag but at the same time I worry how people perceive me and if that would post potential danger to me. 😬

Great video. 👌 My perspective is "to each their own". I really enjoy watching the majority of luxury TH-camrs because everyone is different. Everyone buys bags etc for their own reasons and I love seeing people's choices. BUT, there are some TH-camrs who I feel take themselves far too seriously and, for me, it comes across as if they are preaching about what is a "fun" or "luxury" brand and as if other people's choices are inferior in some way. For me, we are all individual with individual finances, wants, needs, priorities etc and I think that sometimes TH-cam videos can almost alienate people who may have different views. I myself have been buying "luxury" bags for over two decades. I buy to use not to collect, so I sell mine regularly and rarely ever hold more than 4 at any one time. That's just my choice.
i also commented recently about that topic (on your hermes clutch video) that it sometimes seems that you buy bags without thinking much about it and that those are mostly the bags that you sell shorty after but i also said that im guilt of doing it myself… sometimes we have bad days or anything going on and a new bag purchase can lighten it up (maybe thats wrong for many people but its our life and our money). i just said to myself „dave, you need to think a bit more about the bags you buy and if they are truly useful for you“ cause i bought so many pieces wich i ended up wearing once, twice or never and that also annoys me than 😅 i guess handbag collectors like us are a bit insane in general and i personally dont understand why so many people here are that mean and judgemental cause they came here to watch you unboxing and talking about bags so why complaining than when you unbox a bag? its so weird 🙈🙈
No matter what you do, people will comment either positively or negatively. You can’t please everyone so just please yourself. You receive so many supportive comments so don’t let the few bad ones weigh on you too much. If you were receiving a ton of negative comments then you could take a pause and look at yourself but you are not so don’t worry about those few sour pusses.

My mum doesn't understand luxury and I basically have to hide what I buy. She buys stuff because it's on sale and then tries to make it work. As you can probably guess it doesn't, she has three wardrobes full of "no wonder it's on sale" clothes. I buy nice (and pricy!) things because I like them. She was trying to give me financial advice while she was in a daisy chain of credit cards. I spend the money I have, I don't have a credit card. In terms of nasty comments, I see that most of the judgement comes from projecting and jealousy. Stay mad, haters!

I always consider resale value when I buy bags. How many luxury bags have I sold, Zero! I think we are all quirky in own way. A rare Pokemon card can go for several millions. I have not yet seen a handbag sell for that much. Please find someone else to judge, right?
Leather doesn’t last forever no matter the brand. But but what you can afford. Some people splurge on beer, alcohol, illegal drugs and s?x. Your splurging on something nice that has value in this life. It’s not hurting anyone.
They are likely quite envious of the amount of money that goes into your collection because they don't have anything like the same sort of disposable income that you have, and they may know they never will. Envy is a horrible feeling and it makes sense to in a way to avoid it being provoked. Most people do tend to assume that designer items, especially with big logos, are all about showing off status and wealth. What I learnt from watching videos by you and Dacob these last couple of weeks is that you both love the items themselves: the design, the materials, the history of the brand etc. Most people do not even get to touch such expensive leather goods so they just don't understand what you could possibly be getting out of it beyond showing off. So if they think that's all these items are for, well then, they conclude that you're buying these bags to make them feel bad at the same time as impressing other rich people. In other words, they think you're being competitive.
You don't appear to be buying bags for TH-cam video content. I think you appear to be genuinely passionate about each handbag you buy. I can understand why you sold all your Louis Vuitton monogram canvas bags, because I grew out of them too. People change and people evolve in various ways, and there's nothing wrong with that. I agree with you that we should generally be nice and polite to each other, but don't think everyone has to agree with each other, I think it's OK to express different opinions as long as it's not obviously rude. But I guess I should refrain from writing things like gosh your new handbag looks so ugly and hideous, even if I honestly thought so 😅
It is because handbags are a "women" thing. Women get judged for everything they love. They always have been. It is that easy. Nobody judges a man for collecting and selling watches like women are judged who love handbags.

I do think some people buy some bags just to make their selves look good and keep their collections relevant for TH-cam especially! And you can see once everyone got the 22 bag and made a complaint on it the whole TH-cam community started complaining about it there’s not a lot of content you can make you need to be creative! I enjoy watching your videos. I think people don’t mean to judge you, I think they simply wonder why you can afford to buy so many expensive handbags one after another in such a short timeframe. You mentioned in your former videos that you work really hard, but I think majority of people take their jobs seriously. I think it will be great if you can do a sit-down chat type finance videos. Your fellow youtubers like Classics with a quirk, Dayle from Dayle’s addiction or Conner from Conner’s closet did these types of videos and I thought it was really real.

I personally am not a fan of collecting nor hoarding handbags. I only have 1 luxury handbag which is a dark beige YSL sac de jour. Although I do plan to buy a black bag. I prefer something I can beat up in the long run and use everyday as I have no intentions on selling them whatsoever. So 2 luxury handbags is enough for me as long as it matches my style and most of my clothes are neutral anyway. But I don't really bother people who do love collecting bags especially people I DO NOT KNOW (if it was a family member then yeah maybe haha). May it be for their own vanity, for art, or as a part of their fashion career. If they like it, let them be. We can go on and on complaining about how "wasteful" it is, but honestly, people will spend on whatever they wanna spend. Who are we to dictate what they do with their own money? If you're the minimalistic type, good for you. If you're the extravagant one, you get a pat on the shoulder too. Let us mind our own business and let people indulge on their hobbies/lifestyle that doesn't harm others. Learn the subtle art of not giving a fck. Most people who complain about these things are the ones who can't even afford. I know for myself I cannot afford Hermes. But I do admire it on other people who has them.

When I first started buying bags my goal was to have one from each design house. Now I’m changing it up and would like a smaller collection of blue bags I love. Blue is my fav color and I can always match it with everything. My only reservation is what if my daughter does not like blue lol. Also yeah I don’t really wear my bags. Great video you really touch all bases of collectors!! I feel seen 💙

I agree, it must be frustrating when people “assume” you are like all the other “influencers” who flex with their new LV or get a B or a K. Where as I feel I relate to you. I work a “normal” job- I’m not rich. But I also work hard, have always loved collecting things (barbies as a girl 😮) and now it’s handbags! I do try to wear most of them but also love to display and just drool over them- which there is nothing wrong with! Great video highlighting this ❤

I think you earned the money, you decide what you want to spend it on. We all collect things. I buy antique gold jewelries. Do I need them? No. Do I want them in my possession? Yes. Some people spend hundreds of dollars in restaurants, foods, wines. I think no one should be judged. Even if you don't use your bags, so what? YOU decide for what you want to do with your belongings. People are just jealous of you that's all. I know it's hard, but try not to be influenced by people's agendas. On a side note. I do feel uncomfortable to use my luxury bags. I'm uncomfortable going out with branded bags. I feel like I would be targeted. I'm curious, do you ever feel that way when you take your bags out? Maybe it'd because I don't live in a big city. I rarely see anyone going out with a branded bag. I just want to enjoy my bag but at the same time I worry how people perceive me and if that would post potential danger to me. 😬

My perspective is "to each their own".
I really enjoy watching the majority of luxury TH-camrs because everyone is different. Everyone buys bags etc for their own reasons and I love seeing people's choices. BUT, there are some TH-camrs who I feel take themselves far too seriously and, for me, it comes across as if they are preaching about what is a "fun" or "luxury" brand and as if other people's choices are inferior in some way.
For me, we are all individual with individual finances, wants, needs, priorities etc and I think that sometimes TH-cam videos can almost alienate people who may have different views. I myself have been buying "luxury" bags for over two decades. I buy to use not to collect, so I sell mine regularly and rarely ever hold more than 4 at any one time. That's just my choice.

i also commented recently about that topic (on your hermes clutch video) that it sometimes seems that you buy bags without thinking much about it and that those are mostly the bags that you sell shorty after but i also said that im guilt of doing it myself… sometimes we have bad days or anything going on and a new bag purchase can lighten it up (maybe thats wrong for many people but its our life and our money). i just said to myself „dave, you need to think a bit more about the bags you buy and if they are truly useful for you“ cause i bought so many pieces wich i ended up wearing once, twice or never and that also annoys me than 😅
i guess handbag collectors like us are a bit insane in general and i personally dont understand why so many people here are that mean and judgemental cause they came here to watch you unboxing and talking about bags so why complaining than when you unbox a bag? its so weird 🙈🙈

No matter what you do, people will comment either positively or negatively. You can’t please everyone so just please yourself. You receive so many supportive comments so don’t let the few bad ones weigh on you too much. If you were receiving a ton of negative comments then you could take a pause and look at yourself but you are not so don’t worry about those few sour pusses.

My mum doesn't understand luxury and I basically have to hide what I buy.
She buys stuff because it's on sale and then tries to make it work. As you can probably guess it doesn't, she has three wardrobes full of "no wonder it's on sale" clothes. I buy nice (and pricy!) things because I like them.
She was trying to give me financial advice while she was in a daisy chain of credit cards. I spend the money I have, I don't have a credit card.
In terms of nasty comments, I see that most of the judgement comes from projecting and jealousy. Stay mad, haters!

They are likely quite envious of the amount of money that goes into your collection because they don't have anything like the same sort of disposable income that you have, and they may know they never will. Envy is a horrible feeling and it makes sense to in a way to avoid it being provoked. Most people do tend to assume that designer items, especially with big logos, are all about showing off status and wealth. What I learnt from watching videos by you and Dacob these last couple of weeks is that you both love the items themselves: the design, the materials, the history of the brand etc. Most people do not even get to touch such expensive leather goods so they just don't understand what you could possibly be getting out of it beyond showing off. So if they think that's all these items are for, well then, they conclude that you're buying these bags to make them feel bad at the same time as impressing other rich people. In other words, they think you're being competitive.
You don't appear to be buying bags for TH-cam video content. I think you appear to be genuinely passionate about each handbag you buy. I can understand why you sold all your Louis Vuitton monogram canvas bags, because I grew out of them too. People change and people evolve in various ways, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I agree with you that we should generally be nice and polite to each other, but don't think everyone has to agree with each other, I think it's OK to express different opinions as long as it's not obviously rude.
But I guess I should refrain from writing things like gosh your new handbag looks so ugly and hideous, even if I honestly thought so 😅
