Like infernum was a bass that sent waves of sound instead of fire, severum was some sort of tambourine, calibrum was a violin, crescendum and the small chakrams were like those triangles that make noise when you hit them with a stick and gravitum was a french horn

I like to think that the “drowned” effect on the chords is given by Aphelios being mute and struggling inside, with her sister’s voice being the only source of relief and tranquility amidst the chaos going inside of him

I really like how you interpret the song with the character. In the lore, Aphelios is a mute from a civilization called Lunari, he has a sister (Alune) that is kinda like a lunar prist. The lunari worship the moon while the Solari (their enemies) worship the Sun. These two civilizations are constantly in war. To fight them, Aphelios drinks a poison from a flower that allows him to hear his sister. She would send him a variety of lunar weapons and stuff to protect her brother and the Lunari, There's a short story that mentions the Solari entering a Lunari cave and Aphelios fights them with the help of his sister. That cave interpretation 8:10 was pretty accurate. The same with 4:30, representing the constant war. It also makes sense that the singer is a female, representing Alune. Maybe I skipped something but that's pretty much it
His vocals are his ethereal sister who speaks to him. The weirdness comes because he drinks a psychedelic that crisps his senses before he goes full assassin mode but it closes his vocal cords. She’s the only sanity guiding his faith. He does the dirty work for basically the Church of the Moon.

Damn, finally my main character's song is being reacted, i got crazy when finally i saw it on my frontpage!! Joey, to make u understand a little more this AWESOME/AMAZING guy: There are 2 religions/cults, the Solari (loves the sun and hates the moon, basically) and the Lunari (Accepts the moon (basically) ) and Aphelios belongs to the moon religion. The Solari are the "bad guys" of the story, because they got rid of the other ones and hate them (for literally just accepting the moon), ending up making Lunari hiding theirselves for a long time. But Aphelios is the one that will meet an important person in the future and together they will restore peace between both religions and make them live in peace (that's what is supposed to happen, we don't know yet). So yeah, not as u said: aphelios is not the bad guy/villain. (he's mute btw, her sister's spirit speaks for him) PS: not every Solari are bad people, there are also a few ones with the same objective: peace. I hope u understand something! Its dark at times but light in others. You're right though its quite good. It feels similar to Metroid Prime music which I dont think is a coincidence, with Kai'sa having some similarities to Samus.

That's why you can only hear her voice saying to stay together and that's why it sounds so dark but at some time optimism! #EmoMoonBoy
Nope, they were not killed. Alune is in the spirit realm (because of the something covergence of two moons idk i forgot) and she is helping his brother in the mortal realm by aiding him with lunar weapons to fight off solari.
I think that thé warpy sound might represent the poison Aphelios tales to fight, it's so painful he can't speak and i like to think this sound might represent the pain he feels kinda like pain waves.
Just a quick explanation of the character, they are actually two characters in one, they are siblings in a religious group that worships the moon, the brother fires different magic guns sent to his hands by his sister who sits in other realm, in order to do that the brother needs to drink a poison before the fight so he can link with his sister but the catch is he becames a mute person, so his theme is about a dark commitment and belief
After watching these vids i realized there is a void for explaining how the champion and lore is being musically interpertated through these champion themes!
Since I can't find a single comment about her, I will just say Diana's theme is still one of the best ones, and it proves it doesn't need to be new to be at the top.
What made me play league was the Burning Tides event in 2015. The loading screens very pirate themed made me fall in love. I'd love to see a react on that, but they are 4 themes (4 login screens/musics)
Ater watching you enjoying the theme for Viego, The Ruined King, i can safely say you are going to loose it on Fiddlesticks, The Harbinger of DoomYone, The Unforgotten. These 2 are a road trip. There are many more, but do them at your own pace. (Many others were mentioned, but Fiddlesticks's theme it's another amazing one, just for the fact that the character you see on screen it's stealing voices from people he kills, and tries to lure them with said voices). I could just go on how good each theme for each champion it's good but we would be here for a while.
For those who played Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC, you'll understand a lot the inspiration under the aesthetic of Aphelios having a twin sister that is like a ghost (taking aside the lore of Aphelios, of course).. Also his looks is every alike with certain characters centered on the DLC. Go look over Uldren Sov and Mara Sov.
ye, the dude drinks some poison that makes it impossible for him to be able to speak. Said poison allows him to connect with his dead/spirit form sister, who helps him fight. In game you can only hear her voice and he just groans when he gets hit or dies, so the lovely voice accompanying the creepy base is most likely what they were going for
Aphelios is an assassin from the lunari clan, which is a tribe that worships the moon. He also has a twin sister called Alune. So in the beginning, u have to know that not only beings like spirits for example, can move between the normal and the spirit realm, but also the moon itself. But compared to the moon in the normal realm, the one in the spirit realm has a slightly different orbit than the physical one. Aphelios and his twin sister Alune were born during a rare lunar convergence where the moon was eclipsed by its reflection in the spirit realm. Because of this Aphelios and Alune were celebrated as children of destiny by the Lunari. Each child was touched by one half of the moon. Aphelios was gifted physical strengh like the moon made out of stone, but Alune was gifted magical power like the spiritual reflection of the moon. Both of them were zealously devoted to the Lunari faith which was build on mystery, reflection and discovery. Both embrace darkness not just out of believe but because they had to to stay safe. (because there is another cult called the solari which worship the sun and killed of or hunted the Lunari down because they thought of them as heretics) See, he has a deep bond with his sister... while having the pressure on his shoulder being an example for all other Lunari, he trained a lot as being an assassin, while Alune trained being a seer to aid him on his missions by showing pathways normaly hidden by the moon etc. To cut it short from here on, Aphelios and Alune parted on different journeys to find their way/ purpose or as they call it, their orbit (get it? moon n stuff lol) While Aphelios found a flower that could grant him powers but would render him completely mute due to a lot of pain, Alune was send to a special tower from where she would conect to her brother to aid him in battle by sending him weapons... that is very long for youtube yet very short for his story so basically Aphelios only has his sister but although she is not there in person or could ever meet him, she is there spiritually and aids him wherever she can! hence the lyrics in his theme. his lore is rather dark and as an assassin from a tribe that is being hunted down by the opposition which is also stronger, and in addition to that he is also like one of the very few existing Lunari, his theme als is very eerie and dark. Plus the fact that he has to drink that poisonous flower concuction on a regular basis, which causes excrutiating pain to maintain his numbness to mortal senses like pain in battle and such but also to keep in touch with his sister, makes it even darker, twisted and sad! So he cant speak because of said concoction (renders him mute cause pain) but his sister speaks for the both of them! (ingame for example u can only hear Alune speaking but never Aphelios)
The reason (at least I suspect the reason) for the strings warped like that is because aphelios is a mute and I think partially deaf. The woman is always clear because its his sister in spirit form speaking to him.

To put this really short(Not necesarilly 100%accurate, but rather as I remember it): He and his sister are part of a minority in his region. She chose to go to a so called"spirit realm", where she could only get at very specific times. EItherway at the same time he did choose to use a poison, to not only amplify his connection to her and her magic, but also with the cost of being mute while using it. These people are portrayed as being in a fight of survival, with him and his sister sacrificing a lit for their people. Thats also why his sister speaks and not him. SInce he has no voice, but she communicates with him. This also should explain some of the lyrics, you noticed.
Alune is the voice and aphelios is the deep muted bass and strings. Everytime Alune finishes her prayer or verse, aphelios comes in a drowns everything out because it's sort of like alune is just hidden in the background watching over aphelios.

The fact that the instrumental backed the vocals so well( since Alune is the singer and Aphelios represents the instruments ) shows how Riot really puts a lot of great effort in implementing their character into music.

Joey, to make u understand a little more this AWESOME/AMAZING guy: There are 2 religions/cults, the Solari (loves the sun and hates the moon, basically) and the Lunari (Accepts the moon (basically) ) and Aphelios belongs to the moon religion. The Solari are the "bad guys" of the story, because they got rid of the other ones and hate them (for literally just accepting the moon), ending up making Lunari hiding theirselves for a long time. But Aphelios is the one that will meet an important person in the future and together they will restore peace between both religions and make them live in peace (that's what is supposed to happen, we don't know yet). So yeah, not as u said: aphelios is not the bad guy/villain. (he's mute btw, her sister's spirit speaks for him)
PS: not every Solari are bad people, there are also a few ones with the same objective: peace.

I'd love it if you checked out the 2019 Lunar Revel Theme. It's not a champion theme, it's an event theme, but it shows that Riots Music team can pull off any style. Also, it's just really fucking good

Its dark at times but light in others. You're right though its quite good. It feels similar to Metroid Prime music which I dont think is a coincidence, with Kai'sa having some similarities to Samus.

Aphelios is a Lunari (worship the Moon) and they were chased and killed by Solari (worship to the Sun) for centuries. Now he and his sister, who is in the spirit realm act together to revenge. They are assassins, but for that, the sister Alune in the spirit realm gives him all the weapons and power, and for Aphelios to connect to her, he must drink a poison, which keeps him mute and in pain! That's why you can only hear her voice saying to stay together and that's why it sounds so dark but at some time optimism! #EmoMoonBoy

Nope, they were not killed. Alune is in the spirit realm (because of the something covergence of two moons idk i forgot) and she is helping his brother in the mortal realm by aiding him with lunar weapons to fight off solari.
Also, they were born when the two moons aligned (both mortal realm moon and spirit realm moon).
They fought off the solari, because solari think that the lunari (another worshipping tribe) are heretics and must be extinguished.

Just a quick explanation of the character, they are actually two characters in one, they are siblings in a religious group that worships the moon, the brother fires different magic guns sent to his hands by his sister who sits in other realm, in order to do that the brother needs to drink a poison before the fight so he can link with his sister but the catch is he becames a mute person, so his theme is about a dark commitment and belief
He's basically a complete badass

After watching these vids i realized there is a void for explaining how the champion and lore is being musically interpertated through these champion themes!
Since I can't find a single comment about her, I will just say Diana's theme is still one of the best ones, and it proves it doesn't need to be new to be at the top.
In my opinion, these songs are already fascinating masterpieces - but through Joey I learn to respect them even more!

Ater watching you enjoying the theme for Viego, The Ruined King, i can safely say you are going to loose it on Fiddlesticks, The Harbinger of DoomYone, The Unforgotten. These 2 are a road trip. There are many more, but do them at your own pace.
(Many others were mentioned, but Fiddlesticks's theme it's another amazing one, just for the fact that the character you see on screen it's stealing voices from people he kills, and tries to lure them with said voices). I could just go on how good each theme for each champion it's good but we would be here for a while.

For those who played Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC, you'll understand a lot the inspiration under the aesthetic of Aphelios having a twin sister that is like a ghost (taking aside the lore of Aphelios, of course).. Also his looks is every alike with certain characters centered on the DLC.

ye, the dude drinks some poison that makes it impossible for him to be able to speak. Said poison allows him to connect with his dead/spirit form sister, who helps him fight. In game you can only hear her voice and he just groans when he gets hit or dies, so the lovely voice accompanying the creepy base is most likely what they were going for

Aphelios is an assassin from the lunari clan, which is a tribe that worships the moon. He also has a twin sister called Alune.
So in the beginning, u have to know that not only beings like spirits for example, can move between the normal and the spirit realm, but also the moon itself. But compared to the moon in the normal realm, the one in the spirit realm has a slightly different orbit than the physical one.
Aphelios and his twin sister Alune were born during a rare lunar convergence where the moon was eclipsed by its reflection in the spirit realm. Because of this Aphelios and Alune were celebrated as children of destiny by the Lunari. Each child was touched by one half of the moon. Aphelios was gifted physical strengh like the moon made out of stone, but Alune was gifted magical power like the spiritual reflection of the moon.
Both of them were zealously devoted to the Lunari faith which was build on mystery, reflection and discovery. Both embrace darkness not just out of believe but because they had to to stay safe.
(because there is another cult called the solari which worship the sun and killed of or hunted the Lunari down because they thought of them as heretics)
See, he has a deep bond with his sister... while having the pressure on his shoulder being an example for all other Lunari, he trained a lot as being an assassin, while Alune trained being a seer to aid him on his missions by showing pathways normaly hidden by the moon etc.
To cut it short from here on, Aphelios and Alune parted on different journeys to find their way/ purpose or as they call it, their orbit (get it? moon n stuff lol)
While Aphelios found a flower that could grant him powers but would render him completely mute due to a lot of pain, Alune was send to a special tower from where she would conect to her brother to aid him in battle by sending him weapons...
that is very long for youtube yet very short for his story
so basically Aphelios only has his sister but although she is not there in person or could ever meet him, she is there spiritually and aids him wherever she can! hence the lyrics in his theme.
his lore is rather dark and as an assassin from a tribe that is being hunted down by the opposition which is also stronger, and in addition to that he is also like one of the very few existing Lunari, his theme als is very eerie and dark. Plus the fact that he has to drink that poisonous flower concuction on a regular basis, which causes excrutiating pain to maintain his numbness to mortal senses like pain in battle and such but also to keep in touch with his sister, makes it even darker, twisted and sad!
So he cant speak because of said concoction (renders him mute cause pain) but his sister speaks for the both of them! (ingame for example u can only hear Alune speaking but never Aphelios)

The reason (at least I suspect the reason) for the strings warped like that is because aphelios is a mute and I think partially deaf. The woman is always clear because its his sister in spirit form speaking to him.

Yeah and it sucks cuz both tribes could have live in peace together if the solaris did not want the lunaris to be forgotten into oblivion. The solaris killed so much more and Aphelios and Alune has to take action before every lunari get's to be killed by them.

To put this really short(Not necesarilly 100%accurate, but rather as I remember it):
He and his sister are part of a minority in his region. She chose to go to a so called"spirit realm", where she could only get at very specific times. EItherway at the same time he did choose to use a poison, to not only amplify his connection to her and her magic, but also with the cost of being mute while using it. These people are portrayed as being in a fight of survival, with him and his sister sacrificing a lit for their people. Thats also why his sister speaks and not him. SInce he has no voice, but she communicates with him. This also should explain some of the lyrics, you noticed.
Alune is the voice and aphelios is the deep muted bass and strings. Everytime Alune finishes her prayer or verse, aphelios comes in a drowns everything out because it's sort of like alune is just hidden in the background watching over aphelios.

Might be too late for you to see this comment, BUT, I just want to say I'm so happy to see someone actually doing some champion theme reactions. People stick to the big songs, and I get why, but they capture champions so so well too. Sett is another really great one.

Volibear's theme is a viking war song while his brother's theme, Ornn, is a calmly viking song. If you love violins, check Pyke's theme, you'll go crazy. Pantheon's theme is probably the most epic theme of all LoL champion theme. You might also enjoy Tahm Kench theme, for its unique bayou-like theme. ;)
