Always a pleasant surprise when you post on this channel. Going into year 5 of my business (crazy) Hope all has been well! would be cool to hear a business update on your ventures
🙌 Man oh man. I needed to hear this today. I just filled my online shopping cart with stuff I don’t need, just because. Instead, I’m gonna stargaze tonight to experience life, and relax. Seriously, your podcast just saved me 900 bucks. Thanks Kevin!
Before the pandemic, I had set up direct deposit to put $25 in a credit union account. My Starbucks card could only refill from that one, so some weeks I didn't touch the deposit and others both the Starbucks card and that account were dry. The store was across the street from my office. When the shutdown ended, I had over $600 in the account that would have gone to them. Seeing the chunk of change I'd been forking over was a wake-up call. I only go there when we are traveling now and I try not to drink my calories.
No one else will care as much as you do what happens in your life. Very true! When people start making a lot of demands b on your time you have to say “when I have overextended myself to the point of physical or mental collapse, will these people be there to do the laundry, cook meals for my family, pay my wages and clean my house? If the answer is no o have no problem telling them I can’t help.
Your points are so incredibly accurate, especially the point, if you don’t have excess money coming in, it’s difficult to save. A person can only cut so much out of their life, and when it comes to necessities, it diminishes even more. A person can only live on rice and beans for so long- it’s not sustainable. Nutritionally or mentally. It wears a person down to be scrimping and saving, cutting out every bit of enjoyment in life just to survive. The only way out of that situation is to make more money. It’s so incredibly unfortunate and many times, unhelpful, but true. I hope anyone who is or has been in that situation is able to start making more money.🖤 it’s such a difficult hole to climb out of 💔.
Some good advice I wish I had followed over the years. I do find it difficult to value myself though - always figured that the boss will notice my work ethic and reward accordingly. And now that I am my own boss, I find it even harder but slowly figuring it out. Thanks for this.
Awesome video! As someone with a lot of student loans and a strict budget, your advice was super helpful on how to maximize the big picture. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!
I agree. I love the idea, I learned relational equity and knowing your "obvious greater value". This has allowed me to get every job I have asked for, and I ask for the job I want. I do not wait around to get it. Excellent Kevin.
I hope this will become your most viewed video. This is amazing advice for anyone struggling and a great reminder for those who already know these things. For many years I tried to try to save my way to riches, until I really sat and seen how much time and effort went in to saving. It was costing me a fortune. I did pick up skills in doing it, but it wasn't honestly worth the effort. The only part that is tricky with this is finding the line. It is similar to the coffee purchase you make. You can have $1800 in purchases a year, but you also have to know when you have made too many $1800 annual purchases that have now kept you only treading water. Essentially a lifestyle creep. It is easy to justify it by saying, "I'll just earn more to make this work", when you need to say, "I have already earned more to make this work."
This made me smile so much. I’ve really been focused on living financially smarter since the garden produced so much i feel food secure … and it feels like my favorite TH-camrs and podcasts are all overlapping to 2025 being the year of financial freedom. It’s encouraging!
Wonderful to hear your perspective. I’ve had to take a step back from gardening for a little bit because it became overwhelming. I realized I had to readjust my expectations of what I “should” be doing in the yard rather than what I can do for fun while learning and experimenting. Mental health is sooooo important and we often overlook it. Financially, I’m good. But it took a long time of trials and errors to understand what I could handle. And patience is an amazing thing to practice when we want everything now, now, now. Thank you for this video. It’s cool to hear about your life and experiences. Happy Holidays! 🎉
I’ve been watching the epic channels for years and this just happened to pop up in my feed. I am a qualified financial adviser in AUS and do often lay awake at night thinking about a particular clients situation, however I was also taught by my father that ‘nobody else will look out for you’. There is an amount of ownership over all parts of our lives, let alone our finances, that I feel isn’t being instilled or demonstrated by people in modern society. I’m interested to hear your point of view on finance and other things as you progress with this channel. Excited to have found this channel and to see where it goes. Cudos to you for choosing to give back in this way now that you are at this point in your journey.
6:30 I find that most people DO very much care that you are doing well and want to help, but everyone is handling their own concerns and money and cannot be expected to carry anyone else who is capable of making their own living. We all work together to survive, thats what makes us human, AND You have a responsibility to provide for yourself first so that you don't hurt others. Its important to not become mired in the scarcity mindset where other people are the enemy.
I went through a period a few years ago where I _had_ to manage my money down to the latte level. It was exhausting. But I'd do it and I'd feel so proud of saving those few dollars for weeks at a time,, then WHAM! Something would go wrong with my house or my car and I'd have to spend the equivalent of a year's worth of lattes to fix it. Now that I'm in a better position, I remember two things - one, that the big decisions (car, home, career) way outweigh the small ones, and two, that fancy coffee shouldn't be an afterthought while I'm running errands. I stop to think about it before I order, make sure I'm going to appreciate it.
Great points! Not bad with money but I’m deff on a fun\interesting/unique path this last year where I ditched the traditional lifestyle of having a stable home and I’m pet/house sitting full time for a place to stay and cutting off a lot of bills like rent/utilities etc and if I can just get the income streams up the amount I can save will be so insanely significant. Was also a nice reminder of how important our health esp as we get older, 37 and starting to feel the effects of not taking the best care of myself. thanks Kevin 😁
I'm pretty good with money, but Eric (Kevin) is one of my TH-cam faves so of course I watched. Kids-WATCH, LISTEN AND TAKE NOTES! And parents of those kids, pass this info along! This video has an Epic ROI 😉
I’m hesitant to watch videos like this because money is such a low vibrational topic. People associate money with their energetic value which is infinite invaluable and all powerful and there is no amount of money that can match it. Only energy can be exchanged for energy. A good trade would be my hens eggs for some of your home grown tomatoes. Anyway. I’d love have an actual one on one chat because it’s so deep. Money equals slavery. AND what you shared here is exactly right. In essence I got from this video to be a generator and only take what you need. Create big live small. No one is deserving. Everyone is worthy.
One caveat about credit cards: use them like a debit card. Don't use your bank card for ANYTHING. Then pay that credit card off at the end of the month. This will help raise your credit score and, if you wisely chose a card that gives you fly miles or cash back or some such bonus, you will rack those benefits up as well 😊 yes, it requires some discipline to only spend what your budget is but isn't that the same as your debit card? It has a limit to whatever money is in your account. Treat your credit card like that as well!
Great advice, especially about taking care of your health. Health=wealth. Ive been following Dave Ramsey Solutions for years. I'll have my home paid off just as I begin my 40s, so absolutely zero debt, and thats with just 1 household income. The steps are pretty much what youve laid out: budgeting, living under your means, no credit cards, invest, etc Its all about financial peace, peace of mind, its all worth it.
They say your bad or good with money its healthy to be good with miney but you don't even have it unless your investing people who work and educate on investing are able to own homes mortgage free thats right - willy 0
I know people who make 3-4 times more than me and are lifestyle poor and live paycheck to paycheck worrying about bills. It’s unbelievable how people want to impress and promote brands for free. I invest 60-70% of my income and take yearly vacations with no hit to my finances.
Great video! With awesome advice, that I truly think comes from a place of care and experience. About financial freedom, I understand it as a privilege that you give yourself, with how you set yourself up of course. I think media and many proponents describe obtaining "financial freedom" as basically what you mentioned; the ability to have a lifestyle of spending well beyond your means (they don't say that ofc, they just say that you'll have the ability to "achieve your dreams" and "do anything you want." I'm super duper interested in a video explaining how you've allocated and grown what you've earned. P.S. for any of those looking for advice, I highly recommend getting started on a Roth IRA as quickly as possible. Super easy to start up, and pretty easy to upkeep (in my experience)
Gotta get good but since investment got good they wont lower the prices for workers or raise the paychecks of workers ever again you need investment - willy 0
Theyll raise it a dollar or two for all works on a minimum wage level things like that are also not 10x your paycheck which is what you need crypto does that when your good - willy 0
We're not changing all that much. The 90s idea is just a fun way to package varieties together our hort team put together. It's the same varieties we've always had, same packets, etc.
Bur you need money like a disability check or workers check to get started and keep going usually but you know 10x my paycheck is 10x my paycheck working overtime don't do that Investment does - willy 00
I was so confused. My gardening TH-cam and financial TH-cam habits are combining 😅
Combo!
Ditto. LOL. I was very confused.
Me too. I was like huh what's that about when I saw the video pop up. Glad I checked it out. Multiple streams of income example. Way to go Kevin!
Yes confused! Haha but we are at the same stage in our lives-talking about gardening and finance 😅
Me too! 😂
I enjoyed witnessing the other side of you. Thank you for sharing the insight .
Always a pleasant surprise when you post on this channel. Going into year 5 of my business (crazy) Hope all has been well! would be cool to hear a business update on your ventures
Will do soon!
🙌 Man oh man. I needed to hear this today. I just filled my online shopping cart with stuff I don’t need, just because. Instead, I’m gonna stargaze tonight to experience life, and relax. Seriously, your podcast just saved me 900 bucks. Thanks Kevin!
Glad to hear it my friend.
Love the final point! Having money and financial security is supposed to be about having access to the life you want not the end goal you obsess over
💯💯💯
🙏

Love this strategy. Good example of automating your finances!
Smart!
Brilliant!
The same is true of all our various addictions.
Nice! And a huge YES to not drinking your (empty, nutritionally void) calories! High 5!
Great advice, thank you, Kevin! Focusing on the big ticket items and personal health is so important.
I am not bad with money, but watched it anyway. I love your practical tips.
:)

Just keep asking for what you think you're worth!
Lessons we often learn to late in life...thanks for sharing 😊
Absolutely!

I have been watching you for about a year on your garden channel. So happy to see your new channel. You help me to start my small garden 😊
So glad to hear this!
Sound advice! I hope every teen I know watches this!❤

You are literally my favorite youtuber!! From gardening to an array of advice!! Greatly appreciated and I wish you the best if luck in the new year!!!

Totally...well stated. Why I think it's good to live some defined % below your means to avoid overall creep

I also LOVE interacting with those in my community and going to a new coffee shop to write/engage with others absolutely adds to my quality of life.
Brings some joy to the day, right?

Right, that's what I mean, no one cares AS MUCH as you do

Proud of you for getting through that.
Your advice here is so down to earth. Thank you for sharing!
I'm glad I stumbled onto this video. Good stuff. Thanks, Kevin!

Thanks Kevin , I’m so happy for your success. I’v😊
thanks Kevin. I always love these videos you do. I hope the economy’s trajectory doesn’t impact the content creator market :/
I'll be posting regardless!
Thanks for sharing Kevin for these nuggets!!! Happy New Year 2025!!! Can't wait to see your growth!!!
Happy new year!
Great advice, this is my first time seeing your channel probably because I love to watch financial TH-cam.

Planting different kinds of seeds today!
Indeed!
Ouch, as much of your tips as i already heed... that taking care of yourself part hit home. You're on point with every tip, though. Duly noted.
You got this
Awesomeness 🎉thank u for sharing your tips with us blessings 🙌 🙏 to you nd your family have a great holiday 🎉
Very well laid out Sir! I look forward to seeing the investments advice you also give. It is amazing how much the way we think overlaps 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
The earning issue has been a downfall for me a lot over the years. I build skills and wind up with a 25 cent an hour raise or something.
I'm pretty good with money, but Eric (Kevin) is one of my TH-cam faves so of course I watched. Kids-WATCH, LISTEN AND TAKE NOTES! And parents of those kids, pass this info along! This video has an Epic ROI 😉

Glad it was helpful!
VERY good 👍🏻 🙌🏻🙌🏻💯
Edit: u clearly like educating on growth in ALL things🤘🏻

Interesting perspective!!
I’ve been cutting my own hair for years. Cost saving is in excess of $15K over 30 years. Many other ways to save big time.
Nicely done!

Yup, best way to do it right there
I need to charge more. I know I can charge more because there are limited people like me who do what I do.
If people pay it when you increase rates, then you're right!
but my gardening problem is the cause of my debt. yikes, just spent $100 on seeds from johnny's.
I know the feeling
I'm glad I clicked this video
