Last Semester is so good. Got emotional just thinking about how much I used to love Midwest emo as a teen. What a fucking track and an absolutely tragedy that time continues. It's a shame my original friend group is no longer together, since they'd all appreciate this. Too much time and bullshit has past so all we have are memories right?
This may seem quite random, but basically I went through a rehabilitation program, and there's a part at the end of the program where the patients would talk about their life story (basically the events leading up to the drug use) before they leave. But usually the staff would choose some cheesy ass goofy ahh beat on repeat in the background. I greased a few palms with the staff and chose this video to be my background music when I talked about everything in front of my siblings in recovery... My family troubles growing up, my edgy skater teenage phase, my heartbreaks & failed toxic relationships, the sexual assaults I endured when I was tweaking af, the times where I felt so alone during the worst parts of covid restrictions and fell deeper into my addiction. Been out for 8 months, doing fine and clean since. I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you Dead Yami for this masterpiece. It really helped me accept who I am and what has been as I narrated my story. ❤

(The genre is *mostly* instrumental) rhythms may feel very strange at first, but the melodic progressions are quite similar IIRC. Post rock also has a slightly similar vibe if you wanna try something a lil different but like the focus on melancholic guitar vibes lol

@@dead_yami no worries. any tips for writing in alternate tunings like facgce and dae… i forget what its called. also do you need to understand basic music theory in standard to write in alternate tunings?
@@dead_yami i mean that riff is rather simple and the 2s and 4s are definitely key on the strings tuned up or down while the 3s and 5s / odds sound good on the strings still in standard but is it really that simple
