    Very nice review Wrel, I will definitely agree in saying that this weapon sounds very pissed off. Something I find fairly important based on my experience on the weapon is the decision on aiming down sights vs hipfiring when cornering or strafing in CQC. Seeing as the weapon only has a 0.5 ADS movement multiplier (which is not that great for a CQC gun), I tend to only use my ADS when I am not on the move or when I am attacking my foes from a vantage point, as hipfiring will allow for me to remain speedy in CQC combat and get the surprise factor on a target. Just some of my thoughts. :)

    I happen to love the Serpent, so I'll have to remember to try this puppy out once I start playing NC again. Though with an RoF like that I might suggest kitting out your LA with Ammunition Belt if you're going to be more than a stone's throw away from an Engineer or terminal for any real length of time.

    Absolutely loved my time with this weapon even auraxiumed it. GD7F is amazing for close and medium range.

    The GD-7F is a good example of how PS2 allows for personal taste and play style and doesn't coerce one into a 'best' setup. I love my GD-7F and there have been times where I, as an engi, only had the rocket turret with me and thus decided to go sniper mode with that carbine, switching to semi-auto and assisting others with quite a few hits on fast-moving targets on medium distance, using a 2x sight.
    And the forward grip indeed is a noticeable improvement when trying to pump short bursts into targets at mid range.
    Balanced and versatile can be just as powerful (and fun) as highly specialized.

    Back when I bought this weapon, I fell in love with it instantly. It is definitely a different play style than the amazing Razor, but I enjoy it a lot. I was honestly surprised at the range of the weapon as going into the purchase I didn't think I would be using it outside of very short range engagements. Nice review as always Wrel, thanks for putting your time into this. :)

    Nice. When flinching was still a thing, I most of the times relied on this weapon to be my NC carbine.
    I really think you should do a CQB carbine shoot-out btw. Lots of players want to know how a gun like the GD-7F performs compared to similar purpose carbines from the other factions.

    Interesting that you call the GD-7F's sound scary. The fun thing is, if you hear this sound and the fire isn't directed at you, it means that GD-7F user just dumped his mag into somebody else and gonna be going through lengthy reload, so it's a perfect time to go find and kill him.
    So the scary sound is at the same time is the sound of weakness, if you can react fast enough.

    I actually found major success in using a 2x Reflex, forward grip, no barrel, and soft point ammo. The 2x reflex and grip make it very easy to tag targets upwards of 35-40 meters with good aim, and makes it easier to land headshots close range as well. Crouch-hipfiring within 5 meters is very effective, even without a laser. This setup was my fastest auraxium ever, at around 8 hours of gameplay. Just my thoughts on this beast of a gun.

    My second carbine I auraxed after the Mercenary. Very enjoyable spin-off from the typical NC weaponry. It worked well with Suppressor and Laser sight just as the SMG with better range. Use Soft Point Ammo for maximum buffed close-ranged shredder.

    My fav setup with the GD-7F is going Light assault , foregrip and silencer . My best advice is to control the recoil and aim and you will easily destroy many enemies at CQC and even some of them at distance.
    The only considerable downside is that is hard to counter Heavy assaults ( use the jetpack to get in higher ground and hit some headshots ASAP ) and Max (it's better to avoid them to be honest)

    It is also the coolest looking carbine... Dig the marine-life style shaping, reminds me of the old XM-8 series rifle we all loved but never went anywhere in real life.

    This is really scary weapon even in hands on a newer player due to its dmg profile and rpm. I hate it when I face off against it but good review, keep up the good work.

    Funny how, as someone who's played mostly engineer, which i understand is also the case for you Wrel, i have the exact opposite assessment towards range as the one you made at 04:15.
    In general i tend to think that the engineer (or medic) are "prey" to the rest of classes as they don't have either superior resistance (HA), or better opportunities for initiative (LA/Inf). As such they tend to live more "confined" in buildings/cover, which may turn into a trap. An engineer also has infinite ammo, so you can fire without keeping spare ammo in mind, which matters at higher RoF (even with good accuracy) in some cases.
    As such, i prefer high RoF carbines+ALS for engineer for those moments when i find an 'unexpected' assaillant right next to me and still take the victory thanks to that, while as a LA (which i don't play much, i'll admit), i'll prefer a more accurate carbine, or even foregrip on a high RoF one.

    What sets this weapon apart from the other NC carbines is the high RPM, which leads to missing shots having less of an impact on your TTK, and the Adv. Laser Sight combined with a good CoF overall, which should be exploited to use this weapon to full effect. For someone who is even aiming down sights in cqc, i suppose the Bandit would be a more suitable weapon.

    Always an awesome feeling to get right in front of an enemy infiltrator in surprise, who's camping in the back of the map, and hose him with a rapid fire carbine.

    The rof should be 750-800 max. The faction with the 500rpm/200dmg tier should not also have a 845/143 weapon. NC easily have the best variety of weapons to chose from.

      vs do they have lots of weapons in each rpm range of 575-845 at least 2-3 weapons each the tr and nc are more specific nc most weapons slower firing tr most weapons fast firing 700 rpm and up

    I love the GD-7F. Can't say much more than that; you pretty much nailed it on the head everything else about it in the review. I like the bullet hose nature, and though the reload can be a bitch, as you observed in the end of video text LAs and certain Engie play styles can dictate the terms of engagements more often than other classes, so the longer reload isn't that big of a drawback. Myself, I run an NV scope, forward grip, and soft point on my GD-7F, and I aim down sights a lot as that's how I like to play. But hipfire on this thing is still nasty even without the laser.

    My friend uses the engineer class all the time, he can't snipe, fly, use shotguns, smgs, lmgs, and is only good with his GD-7F and a Phalanx Turret. He goes against everything you've said in this video. That's right; suppressor, soft point ammunition, 1x reflex scope, and he still gets headshots from the next base... He's a madman. (Further more, I use longrang lmgs in cqc, forget I have overshields and still win.)

    the problem with this thing is, i tend to run out of bullets just as the enemy has a sliver of heath left. or heavies. this seems more beneficial to people who can headshot reliably.

    According to the weapon stats spreadsheet and DasAnfall site, GD-7F has horizontal recoil of 0.225 / 0.3, and as far as I know that info is up to date.
    But in the video you state that horizontal recoil is 0.225 / 0.25. Is that a mistake or there's new info?

    This could have just been a bug when I tested it and/or they could have pached it since but from what I can tell turning off your laser only makes a difrence to you and friendlys, to enemys its always shown as being on.
    As for the weapon its self, love it. Much as the AC-X11 does it fits my hit and run play-stile nicely and even finaly helped me to learn to love hipfire.

    Welp... that was me you slaughtered mercilessly at 3:56. My reaction time is awful. Anyways, are you totally sure about weapons still getting the effect of the laser sight if it's turned off? I was thinking about it after watching one of your tips videos from awhile back and I wanted to see for myself if it still worked. It seemed like the weapons I tested it with got to their full bloom much faster without it activated than when it was.

      Laser Sights don't affect bloom values, only Flash Suppressors do. Laser Sights only tighten your baseline cone of fire, and certainly do grant that bonus while they're turned off.

    Hands down the best carbine I've bought in this game, I have the Linx and the Serpent and I absolutely love this thing to death. Not only does it outclass both of them (Personal opinion), but it sounds like a 2-stroke that was just given a mixture of 40:10 of Gasoline and Nitrous instead of oil. Fucking terrifying... (pardon my french.)

    I would say this Carbine has a great value, like you said to the capacity of reloading with engi and LA, but in the NC we've got the AF-4 Cyclone, and i'm still thinking, this is maybe a great equivalent of potential ? don't you think so ?

    Emptied in almost 2 seconds along with the longer reload time and being harmless at range, i`m missing the versatility on this weapon. I´m using it with suppressor for the sneaky LA now, as it`s velocity seems capable of that.
    It`s a beast, thats why i like it, but i`m doing better with the serpent.

    Hello! I would like to Valkyrie better, and I was wondering if opinions have changed since the valkyrie feedback video. I like to use my val as a support platform though my team seems to prefer it as a troop transport. The M20 wyvern seems like a solid weapon but is it good enough to keep stock until I've certed other aspects? is composite armor a viable option for an ariel support platform? or is stealth still the better way to go? which air frame would be best? hover stability seems like a good option for giving gunners a better shot.

    The GD-7F is a great way to waste lots of ammo and get killed while reloading if your aim is not good enough to kill everyone with one magazine or less. Only recommend it for really close quarters, total beast in that department.

    Great video wrel! Actually just unlocked the GD7F after saving up to 1000 certs and found this video very helpful. Haha, coming off the Mercenary I found it to be a pretty unwieldy weapon in practice with its mag size/rof/ and recoil, since its the complete opposite of the merc. With that said I'm liking the gun in cqc 1v1 instances, but defiantly will have to work on my trigger finger habits to get this gun spraying in the right direction haha.

    Could you review the ac-x11? I love the crap out of it and very few people know how effective it is. It's very accurate and has low recoil when you slap on a compensator and a 1x scope. Not to mention the same damage profile as the nc6

    I would really love to see what kinds of playstyles that should be used in ps2. Sure, I know about the weapons, but what about the way I play? What about the flaws in how I play this game or what should I focus on in certain aspects. Wrel, I hope you would touch on the subject a bit, knowing my playstyle isn't as easy as "go into the fight and die over and over again," which is usually my mentality when it comes to playing Planetside 2. :/

      That doesn't really require an entire video, but here are a few tips for when you should use them:
      1) When Large groups of enemy infantry are clustered together in an enclosed space. Reason: Obviously you have a very good chance of killing them, but a grenade can be far more lethal than just its blast. Allow me to elaborate a bit : Securing any room is about organization. This requires that points of entry are covered, and it requires that the soldiers doing so have unobstructed lines of fire. When you toss a grenade, the enemy will move to avoid the it. This means that one enemy may not be covering the door, and those that are have to risk shooting allies that have blundered into their firing line. A bad medic may also do this to get to an ally that needs to be healed or revived.
      2) When you are holding a room, a grenade can buy some time. An organized enemy (the most dangerous kind) will have multiple people flood in at the same time, perhaps even from multiple directions. When most players getting ready to enter an occupied room, they'll stand right by the door. A grenade will force them run in panic, which will allow your soldiers to take on fewer enemies at one given time.
      3) When you can't follow an enemy, but want to finish him off. Sometimes you will dump a good number of bullets on a target, but He'll retreat around a doorway. Generally speaking, following someone through a doorway is a bad idea (any narrow space that will "bottleneck" your movement is called a fatal funnel). Furthermore, you may have an objective you can't leave (or the knowledge that there's enough enemies just outside that you'll certainly be killed). Grenades are wonderful for finishing wounded targets. Another note: corners are no fun to hang out in when you've got a grenade to keep you company.
      4) against any kind of enemy crash. If a tremendous number of enemies threaten to overrun your position, grenades may very well save the day. Grenades are the only way most classes will be able to inflict meaningful damage to a Max suit, and during a max Crash you may take out an engineer or a medic who is blindly following. If you're with a group, tossing many grenades at once increases the damage output they have, and it will take enemies slightly longer to find an escape route. When a grenade lands near a group it will cause them to scatter, which disrupts their organization.
      5) As area denial. If there's a spot you don't want your enemy to be (like a generator that will go down in 5 seconds, or a doorway that leads to an objective that is needed to flip the base soon), a grenade will discourage anyone from being brave enough rush that objective.
      6) obviously, grenades are useful when you don't have line of sight to a target.
      Lastly, there are three tips I have that will make your grenade throwing more effective.
      1) Recognize that the grenades blast is spherical, and that the blast does not transmit through walls. When throwing a grenade, you want the blast to occupy the highest area possible. This means that you should throw a grenade into the middle of an enclosed space (as opposed to the sides or corners ). This forces enemies who are hiding in these corners to sprint toward the grenade because they are trapped by the very walls they thought would keep them safe. If you throw a grenade ~1-2 meters behind a door, someone standing just inside has two choices: out the door, or into the grenade.
      2) Be very careful when using them! Only throw grenades into areas that allies are not occupying,and only throw grenades when you know exactly where they'll land. If you're unsure of where your allies are, consider using your map, and use the tips from Wrel's video about slicing a corner. Taking this extra time means you won't be killing allies, and you won't be wasting a grenade.
      3) Use your grenades wisely! They're costly, and most infantry will only carry one at a time.

    I just dont get why the gd 7f is 1000 certs while the serpent is 250. 0 sense

      But i personally dont think these superior stats justify the increase in price. They are minimal, and considering how niched these kinda of weapons are the gd 7f is almost exactly the same as the serpent. Heck, cqc weapons where the only thing that matters is ROF and Cone of fire

    Yeah it's quite similar to TR Lynx. You just want to avoid mid to long ranges,because weapon has quite bad recoil and it's hard to kill a target on a bigger range then a 30 meters. I can say that I this game or weapons are quite balanced you just need to find it best territory to use it and change your playstyle depending on weapon you use. The first rule of this game is to have cover close to you at all cost, because you are gonna die if stand on open field very fast.( Had amazing yesterday with RAMS killing "rabbits" on open field on Esamir, had 72 kills in 73 minutes.) My enjoyment become greater when I got new sapphire r9 285, and clocked my atlhlon x4 955 Black edition from 3.2 to 3.8GHz.

    I think the TR should get a proper equivalent of the GD7F and Serpent carbines. The new Lynx is great, but focuses a little more on accuracy instead of raw TTK power.

      Okay, sure, it's not exactly like the Carv or Orion, but the Carv isn't exactly the same as the Orion, either. The EM1 has a great fire rate, moderate damage, and average accuracy, a lot like the Carv. But if you know how to aim and burst fire, you can actually be pretty deadly to targets at range. I've dropped guys at 200-300m with the EM1 using an NV scope; it's not that easy, but it's not that hard, either. The whiners who complain about the EM1 just either don't have a playstyle that meshes with it, or don't bother to learn how to use it properly. It's an LMG bullet hose that you burst fire for about ten rounds at a time and then reacquire. ADS works best with it, and you hipfire at point blank. Yanno, a lot like the T9 Carv.

      Well then what's the point of having a faction trait for each faction when they have guns that are just reskins of each other (with exception to NC 200 damage weapons).
      What you're basically saying: 'give all factions the same guns because I don't want to switch up my play style when I'm playing a different faction due to unwillingness to learn.'
      The reason there is no diversification in factions is because of people like you guys. We might as well scrap the names of the factions and dress us all the same with names depending on our colours: purple team, red team and blue team. Might wanna try out that game... Better suited for you.

    The GD-7F is great and all, but quite frankly I don't feel the need to use anything but the Merc on NC. It's gotta be the best default carbine in the game.

      The Merc is super-solid. Likewise it's Directive Reward derivative, the Fortuna, might be even better. It's the only directive weapon I have to far that feels like an actual reward...

      I think the Betelgeuse is the best DR, but I don't have any of the VS DRs yet. I have the NC carbine, LMG and SMG. The Fortuna is the best of that bunch followed by the Tempest SMG and the GODSAW LMG trailing way behind. I'm on the trail of the shotgun directive though, and can't wait to be roundly disappointed in the NC "double barrel".

    The GD-7F was the third gun I ever Auraxiumed, right behind the GD-66 Claw and the Blitz.

      ***** Auraxium(ing) a gun is when you get 1160 kills with the gun. You get medals for the gun every certain amount of kills, Auraxium being the highest medal :)

      Yes! Bronze is 10 killed, Silver is 60, Gold is 160 and Auraxium is 1160 kills. What a challenge it is!

      A well modded XC-11 should be well enough for limited CQB and still kick ass at range.
      If modded with a laser sight it should do well enough for CQB Hipfire/target acquisition but it's best range is medium.
      If modded for accuracy can melt people a medium range and still be reliable at longer range (short sniper range) with controlled bursts from crouched or single fire.
      And I swear it feels like this weapon could beat anyone 1 V 1. If your target is moving slowly or not at all at medium range then you can easily destroy them even if they're firing on you and have the drop on you, shields and all (except for skilled Vanu Players)
      Modding it for range will maintain that deadly-ness to long range, and still make it reliable for short range although not knife range. Keep in mind this weapon hits very hard but does not fire rapidly, also its accuracy is superb for an NC weapon if you are not moving as you start to shoot, but loses its accuracy as fast as NC weapons normally do and will lose it even faster if you shoot while moving.
      If you're standing still and start a burst, you can burst a good 8 or 9 rounds before even compensating gets hard. If you're moving as you start a burst you can shoot a few 4 or 5.
      So, mod it for CQB with a laser sight and X1 scope with whatever barrel attachment you want (And I'd suggest HV bullets as it's worth it for any medium-long range and it won't hurt short range much with a laser sight)
      That's my suggestion. Reliable at close quarters and Deadly at medium to long.

      Ifaz Younus depends, the lynx is good suppressed and for killing multiple targets but the gd7 has a higher dps

    My experience of this Carbine is you better get good with your pistol beacuse the rate of fire means you will empty clip very often and the reload will kill you if you get caught short.

    This gun is my favourite........ when i use it because I usually use infiltrator of Combat medic so getting shot wont happen or doesn't matter and the guns I have on thoss (blitz gd10 and the reaper DMR are good but don't compare to the GD-7F

      AC-X11 maintains adequate power at CQC sufficient to compare to the GD-7F due to it needing less shots and still having a good RoF (though nowhere near the GD's) and has exact dead on accuracy if you're not moving (crouched or standing) and is more accurate at medium to long range than the GD.
      Admittedly, the GD is better for a surprise attack as you can shoot more rounds before the target reacts, but the AC will melt enemies in 1 V 1 even if they get the surprise on you.
      I stand by that it will kill *anyone* with any shields/armor kit when you're both shooting at each other.
      The AC from an unmoving position can shoot roughly 9 Bullets before the recoil gets too bad to compensate for, and 4 or 5 from a moving position. The GD can fire several *before* the recoil even has time to fully kick in, but actual burst time is shorter than the AC (although with many more bullets having been shot). It's hard to say exactly how many bullets, but the GD fires so quickly that it's better to judge by time spent firing than actual bullets shot.
      With the right modifications (laser sight and X1 scope) the AC-X11 can hold its own in CQC even better than medium/long range weapons (Like other carbines and ARs or LMGs) but it won't match a weapon designed for CQC. (Shotguns, GD-7F, SMGs, several other Carbines and an AR or two) but it CAN beat or match any other automatic weapon at long range with the exception of some Vanu ARs/Carbines. Especially when modded for longer range (X2 or X3.4 Scope, HV bullets, Adv. grip, and compensator)

    this Gun actually comes in handy while fighting in towers and biolabs.... i mean it is the best carbine for cqc.....people die before they realize that they are being shot..XD (i always shoot at the head...headshots with this gun make you kinda INVINCIBLE.and DEADLY in cqc..)
