I agree with P’Aof, the happy ending occurred at the end of part 3. Day having the cornea transplant and getting his vision back was icing on the cake. Kind of like an epilogue to the main story. Because Day’s blindness had an accidental cause, presumably from glass in his eyes from the car accident, it’s very reasonable and realistic for him to have a successful outcome the second time around. He didn’t have any other structural eye damage or disease process, so kind of the perfect candidate for the transplant maybe that’s why they felt they had to include it in the finale. Anyway I’d like to think that Day would have had a happy ending with Mhok regardless if he was sighted or remained visually impaired. Great reaction I was glad you didn’t completely denigrate this beautiful series over the vision issue. It is first and foremost a BL therefore a love story with a disability element in my opinion❤
I loved the show. Beautiful and well-crafted storytelling in all elements. I especially loved how flawed the characters are. There’s no villains, just human beings. Yet when it comes to the disability politics, and I know I don’t have the authority on the topic, I must admit that they could’ve been treated with more care and depth especially on the landing part of the show. Almost perfect.
54:05 yes, exactly! many people blame Day why he kept on ignoring Mhok's hints for a 2nd chance but they keep on forgeting that Mhok also said he'll be back to Hawaii sooner so it's not wrong for Day to act that way.
i wouldn't really count LastTwilight as a series representing the Blind community because i believe no one could really embody a diverse community as satisfying as those who truly belong in it. At the least, LastTwilight could tackle some aspects within that community, finely. The story of Mhok&Day for me is very good and is somewhat reasonable with the circumstances they had. I enjoyed it well. ☺️
I believe that Day regaining his eyesight is unnecessary for Day's story but this EP is about hope. That ending is for us, to hope for a better future. It's been a beautiful journey with you DC and Edison, I had so much fun with your Last Twilight reactions, wonderful job!
I’m so disappointed with the ending of this series. It feels like it lost its way during episode 10. I watched the series with my cousin who is blind. She was so sad about the ending. She said it is so hard to find a show that showcases blindness as normal. The message that Day has to have his eyes fixed in order to be happy defeats the entire premise of the show that they preached to us over and over again. “You don’t need sight to see). It would have made more sense had we seen him live his life happily as a blind man when he was separated from Mhok….but we never saw it. All we got was Mhok apologizing over and over again, and then Day’s eye surgery. It felt very “let’s throw this in the end). It felt like very lazy writing in a series that had incredible storytelling and writing in the beginning. This series had the potential to be one of te best lgbt+ dramas. I wanted to see something different instead of the same episode 11 breakup and time skip. Someone on twitter wrote an ending they thought would have made more sense…and I agree completely with it. Just really disappointed.
During the time when Day was still blind, he got a college degree, open up a bookstore, wrote a book, can move from place to place just fine, doesn't need a caretaker by his side, got to reconcile with Mhok and be boyfriends again and be happy. Day before his 2nd eye surgery didn't live a sad/miserable life but an accomplised life instead. Day lived a more/less 5yrs being blind and he may not fully represent a blind person due to time skip. Day regaining his sight back is still reasonable and i think most people in real life if given the same opportunity to be happier, will choose what Day chose too.

@@regal_ego we didn’t see any of it. They didn’t show us that in episode 11 or 12. Instead we got a time skip of 3 years and a half ass ending
