Fabulous entertainment!! You don’t get this on tv anymore. Great Talent just having fun.
Stevie Wonder singing, just let him do him... It's infectios joy. Great medley, both great and fun. Must be the first time I see Stevie with short hair😅
Tom had all the greats on. Check him out with Janis Joplin and Wilson Pickett, too!
Love Stevie with Tom!!!!!
It’s the 60’s here. 😊❤
You say you’ve never paid a lot of attention to Stevie Wonder? Well, I definitely think it’s about time you did so. Not sure what video to recommend, but his voice, his musicianship, and his songwriting are just outstanding.
Stevie was just 19 at the time of this performance, honestly this is sub-5 minutes of perfection from A-listers at the top of their game!!
If you haven’t seen it bro search YT for Tom and WILSON PICKETT (a hero of Tom’s) filmed around a year later in 1970, you will not be disappointed, in fact you’ll likely be smiling from here to eternity. And if that ain’t enough search Tom and Little Richard.
The show was produced by ATV (now ITV in the UK) and exported, in America ABC picked it up and networked it across the States 😊
"Place in the Sun" and "Uptight" were Steve Wonder Hits. "Its Not Unusual" was Tom's big hit. They are doing each other's songs as duets. Absolute magic. Stevie is also buddies with Elton John, although they don't sing together very much. They did a duet called "Finish Line" back in 2022. They show up at each other's concerts about every ten years or so. Before he was famous, Elton did a cover of "Signed Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder which is available on TH-cam.
They remain friends Stevie appeared on The Voice to wish Tom a Happy 80th birthday. Also appeared on a British music series that Tom hosted called The Right Time. They did a duet on that show too. It's also on TH-cam
Place in the sun, first song.
I was about five years old when Toms' show was on. The ladies never missed it. They loved watching him shake his hips. He had a lot of great musical guests. Two other shows at the time were hosted by Johnny Cash, and also Glen Campbell. All three of those helped introduce middle America and the older generation to rock and roll artists who would not otherwise be able to perform on TV shows, because there were many older shows that wouldn't book rock acts and definitely wouldn't book soul acts. That's just the way it was on TV. Even Nat King Cole tried a show and it got fantastic ratings but was cancelled because big companies didn't want to sponsor a show by a black artist.
OMG! Talk about racism in TV back then! That’sDISGUSTING! I guess that’s just human nature!
Check out Tom and Wilson Pickett too dude, they won’t disappoint!!
The Its not unusual is a Tom Jones song
It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones is older even than me (and I’m a ‘71 arrival lol)
But, are you familiar with Fresh Prince Of Bel Air (I guess the breakout role for Will Smith). In that show he has a relative Carlton and a recurring joke or feature in episodes of that show is universally referred to as Carlton’s Dance and Carlton dances to It’s Not Unusual …… and in fact in one episode they managed to shoehorn Tom Jones in a guest appearance 😊
It's a Stevie Wonder song
We had the best music back then. Today’s music is rubbish.
