  • oin BZ Travel on Episode 45 of our Ultimate World Cruise, as we dock in Keelung and embark on an unforgettable journey to Taipei, the vibrant heart of Taiwan. It's day 111 of our global voyage, and Taiwan presents a refreshing cultural exploration after the bustling energy of Hong Kong. Despite the rainy start, our anticipation for Taipei's clear skies and rich heritage is undiminished.
We dive deep into the local culture with the help of Florence, our knowledgeable guide, starting with the historic YongLe Market 永樂市場 a symbol of eternal joy and bustling community life. From the aromatic seafood stalls to the intricate tailor shops, every corner of Taipei offers a story, a flavor, or a tradition waiting to be discovered.
Our exploration takes us through the old parts of Taipei, revealing the city's soul through its food, markets, and ancient streets. Taipei’s culinary landscape, with its emphasis on fresh, steamed seafood and the unique blend of flavors in their street food, offers a glimpse into the daily lives of its people. We marvel at the significance of traditional practices, such as the celebration of a child’s one-month anniversary, and the youthful spirit of prayer at a local temple, drawing visitors from across Asia.
This episode is not just a travel vlog; it's a journey into the heart of Taipei, where ancient traditions and modern life blend seamlessly. From the bustling markets to the serene temples, Taipei reveals its beauty, culture, and spirit.

Such an interesting place, but a bit shocking to wake this morning to hear the area has been hit by earthquake. So glad your ship had moved on ! Wishing you continued smooth sailing, Anne from England.

That looked a really lovely place - more ordered and less chaotic than Hong Kong for sure! There were many similarities to China - I was there a long time ago - but it really reminded me of it. More so than Hong Kong. Enjoy the trip to Japan!

In most ports way less than a tour booked from cruise, half to one third. It is normally the cheapest way to travel, always the most flexible and certainly the most authentic since you are put in direct contact with a population and culture.
Is not abut the price, is what experience you want to have. Cruise line tours are easy, no worry, nothing to plan, organize and figure out. On the other hand independent travel is about doing it yourself - arranging your own experience.
Not everyone has someone to travel with and many consider being alone on a tour is better than being alone independently.
