My late missus was born in Oldham, my dad in Failsworth. I was born just 'over the border' in Newton Heath, Manchester. I love Oldham and I've many relatives who still live in the Borough.
You didn't need the Tories to shit on you when you lived in Oldham. The Labour Council did an thorough job of turning the place into a complete shithole. i lived there 65 years before moving out to a Tory controlled area. Guess what? we have low Council Tax, Clean Streets, No potholes, Low Crime, Excellent Amenities and the Council here don't bend over backwards to accommodate the third world. I used to be a Labour Voter but never again.
