She will always blame Ray for moving across the street from his parents.🤣🤣 My Dad told me a similar story that he had the opportunity to buy a new home shortly after I was born. However, my Mom was against it because it was right next door to where my grandmother and aunts lived. It was a package deal for two new homes. So dad bought a older home that he was not happy with in a city that even though it was his hometown, he hated living there.
Where did I meet such behavior? 🤔 Oh, yeah it was mom blaming us for not stopping her from removing a very nice tree we had in our backyard that I liked so very much and tried all I could to convince her from removing it! 🤦🏻♀️
This plot line doesn't surprise me. Remember when ray said, "We're moving across the street from your parents, just so you know." It always was hinted that it was debra who decided they picked that house.
And this is the side of Debra I can’t stand. She gaslights Ray by blaming him for HER decision, when she knows damn well him telling her (as she suggested) “you’re carrying twins, you’ve got no blood in your brain” would’ve made her go nuclear.
There was nothing wrong with her decision: she didnt know how bad his family was going to be on a daily basis, also Ray was not very useful in helping around with Ally. Had Ray been a more useful father and helped around, she would have less of an excuse to stay nearby his parents - which in her mind, at the time, would be lifesaving as a support system for three young children, plus a husband who cant really give the child rearing care required. Also Ray could've said no more firmly, here he just gives in to Debra. Thats the dynamic of the couple, Ray fumbles and mumbles and never really stands up for anything, Debra is sharp but sometimes naive. They're flawed people, but theyre not mean just to be mean. I actually saw a similar situation with my brother and sister-in-law and it's not as clear cut as people make it out to be. I'd say the fault is probably closer to 40-60 or 30-70 here with most of it favoring Deb. Its kind of Ray's fault for not being able to demonstrate that he is capable of giving Debra parenting suppport when the twins come out.
