  • On 2 May 2012 Everything Everywhere launched the first live customer trial of next generation 4G LTE broadband on airwaves that, subject to licensing changes, could be used to bring 4G mobile services to the UK later this year.

The Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, and local MP, Rory Stewart, switched on the trial and commented that 4G has the potential to provide "an important stimulus for the UK." The trial centres on the area of Threlkeld in Cumbria, and will look at how 4G LTE could be deployed over existing airwaves in the remote parts of the UK to ensure that rural residents and businesses are not excluded from the benefits of online communities.
Here a series of trial participants talk about their experience of 4G and how it improved their lives and their businesses.
