    Informative video. It would be interesting to see a galaxy image (like M31) taken with both filters for comparison.

      @AstroOnbudget  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed! That would be a good comparison.

      Filters don’t work on galaxies

      @@Astronurd This is wrong. Theres a thread on Cloudynights where one user compared CLS and UHC filters on M31 and M33. They both looked just fine. For less total integration time, the UHC filter clearly wins, while at integrations of over 4 to 6 hours there is little to no difference. Whats weird is that the CLS filter produced a way stronger color cast than the UHC filter. Purely going by physics and the transmission lines of Elipticals and Spirals and comparing them to what the CLS and UHC filters block out, one would think those filters dont work for Galaxies. Actually using them will deliver perfectly fine results however. And i can confirm that as well. You just have to do a bit more Color Calibration in post but thats it. I did a Svbony UHC vs ZWO UV/IR cut comparison to reduce blue star bloat on my TS 80ED and it did quite a lot better with the UHC. For people that cant afford overpriced FPL-53 OTA's or any Triplets at all, this is a very good reason to use UHC filters on galaxies. (i did my testing on an asi585mc btw).

      CPL filters are used to reduce the glare during the day. I don't think they have much application for astrophotography
