I’m asian who was raised that shoes of ANY kind indoors was a cardinal sin. Now I have a fancy pair of high-arch support memory foam slippers(or flipflops I guess), so your indoor sneakers are 100% valid. Also, your sewing/creating room is organized so satisfyingly. I wish my little creative corner was half as organized and satisfying to look at 😂

you get it!!!!!! I actually wasn't raised team no shoes but now that I've been living in nyc all my adult life, I can't understand how I ever did that :') and thank you for watching!!

My mom was super strict about no shoes in the house, which was honestly nice. Now in my own house we have ancient wood floors that have large gaps and produce massive splinters, so walking around barefoot is sketchy. I want to stick with house shoes only, but not sure what to do when guests are over 😅 For now we just don't say anything and let guests wear their regular shoes 🥲

    • @Blaire_Shoe
      @Blaire_Shoe ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@Sleipnirseight Guest house shoes aka "guest slippers" might be an option for you! Dollar store flip flops, cheap slides, or actual slippers (but prolly not the fully soft-soled kind, to account for your splinter issue) in a few different sizes or one-size-fits-all for guests to swap into once they're inside. Just keep in mind how you'll wash them between guests (foot fungus and sweaty feet exist, washing is not optional unless they are single-use)- some styles are easier to hand-wash than others if a machine is not an option, but many can be added into regular loads of laundry.

I also never thought, "maybe I should wear shoes" 🤦‍♀so smart and makes so much sense. Not me adding sneakers to my wish list now. lol

We always had long-haired dogs… and I still do now too… carpets were always furry no matter how much I vacuum … so shoes were just normal. I always tell people it’s ok to wear shoes in my house, don’t have to take them off (I also don’t want to smell your feet!)…. you can see I have a dog and that my blue carpet is black with fur and tracked dog mud 😂 my house is lived in… the dog gets on the couch and bed if SHE wants… and I don’t care. My craftroom is different tho 😂 Clean and organised 🤗

My whole sharehouse is audhd, and we have our kitchen organised thusly: we keep things close to where we use them, including having a couple of specific spaces that are regularly used for one type of task, and having duplicates of things in multiple locations so we don't have to walk away to find something and get distracted!
🍳This means all the pots and stirring utensils and heat mats are near the stove.
🥕The compost bin is next to where we chop veggies.
☕We have extra teaspoons next to where we make tea (as well as mugs, kettle, sugar, teabags) as well as the ones in the cutlery drawer.
🍚We have a water dispenser next to the rice cooker, a measuring cup, and we keep a box of rice there too (refilled from a giant bag kept elsewhere).
We also have every cupboard washi-tape labelled with a general category, and then some have more detailed contents descriptions on the inside of the door on sticky notes (so when the doors are closed it's not too visually cluttered)

They way you animatedly but realistically talk about crafting kinda kicked me out of a "no physical art only digital art" phase ive been stuck in for... what feels like years at this point, its very motivating how you talk about crafting while taking yourself into account and how being creative also comes with difficulties that people dont think about often

I have a tip for getting your large cutting table dream without needing large cutting table space! My "craft room" also doubles as a guest bedroom (as it is only used for actually guests about 2-3x a year). Having a full-size bed in your craft room takes up a lot of space, so I bought a plywood board that is roughly the size of the bed and then bought a large quilter cutting mat to go on top (I got one that is not self-healing as its cheaper and is honestly holding up well with a cutting wheel.) BOOM! Large cutting table for 95% of the time, and headboard the last 5%. It cost me probably about $150 (not including the bed) and I (and my 30 yr old back/knees) am super pleased! Obviously, the bed isnt used daily like I assume your bed is but depending on your set up I think you could make it work for larger projects that you just need the cutting space and immediately put it away and still use the iron board for all the small stuff.

This came at just the right time! I moved out for the first time this year and have been focusing on learning to be a real human in the real world, but that has meant a lot of chaos in my space because it’s just not been my priority! But for the next year I finally have the funds and energy to. Buy a closet perhaps and actually turn my apartment into one that functions! I’ve been crafting so much more and the storage methods I have are just Not cutting it anymore!

I don’t think I could put into words how much I appreciate this video. As someone who’s been contemplating moving to New York, I have been dreading how to cosplay in an apartment when I have been privileged to have so much room to craft in the past. Also, thank you so much for really going in depth about the way you store things. The comic book cardboard is literally in genius, and I definitely will be stealing that! Just thank you thank you thank you! Your videos are a ray of sunshine ❤

As someone who needs more organization (and less clutter/junk) in his life, I applaud your efforts and skills to create a space of your own. I am planning to install a shed in my parents' backyard that will be multifunction - wood working shop, office, exercise room, VR/gaming room, and general crafting (including sewing) room. It'll be a bit bigger than your place is, but for all I plan to put into it, I'll still need to be organized and tidy about what I put, where.

I'm a knitter who for the first time has an entire room I can dedicate to storing and organizing my stash (along with some other things) and I've been so stuck trying to figure out what works for my needs that it's led to piles of stuff all around the rest of my apartment. This is literally how I organize my space, it is so nice to share the same giddiness and excitement about organizing (but in the cool making things totally accessible for yourself way) that someone else has! I get so excited to go the thrift store when I have run out of all of my items that help me organize and collect them until future me has space or a need for them. I just moved and now I have a space all to myself that I can do all of my silly little projects in and that is so exciting, thank you for this video.

Seen this video before just wanted to jump back in and say the storing fabrics on bolts is such a good idea. I used to work in a fabric store & we got a bunch of assorted fabrics with wooden boards (like MDF) for bolts instead of the usual cardboard & when they were empty my manager let me take them & I cut them in thirds to fit into a chest of draws I have and that’s how I’m organising my fabrics & it’s actually so good. So thank you for the idea and shoutout to my old manager for letting me have them so it was all free on my end.

I moved out a couple of months ago into a single-room apartament and knew that I had to make the space incredibly efficient to fit everything i like doing and ended up squaring off a corneer with two shelving units as my workspace (and by workspace i mean crafting + computer, my job doesn't require a desk) and ive been inkling to explain to people how I love how optimised this space is ever since but nobody wanted to listen to me blabbering about my drawer unit and shelved trashcan. This video made me feel seen and understood on a deeper level. Sometimes organised space just hits different, especially when you finally learn how to make your space fit you and your habits and not the other way around

    1. Display the things the energize you
    2. Leave room to grow into your space

I stumbled upon this video by accident, truthfully, and while I have a close friend in the cosplay community, it's not something I see myself ever taking part in (sewing is NOT my thing, despite many attempts!). However, I feel so inspired by how carefully & intentionally you've constructed your space. I'm in other areas of the maker community, and organizing my craft space has been a (expensive) series of trial & error and trying to keep up with what is aesthetically pleasing or seems to work for everyone else, without thinking about what will work for me. (I didn't even think "anti-storage cubes" was a take one could have but I feel freed in admitting I agree!!) I feel like you just told me the seven secrets of the world for free. I have no idea if you'll read this comment, but truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to film and share this space with us and a bit of your thinking process💜

As someone who has spent no less than 20 minutes explaining the pros and cons of the three different reusable water bottles I have and doing an in depth comparison to each one totally unprompted at my friends before, I felt this tour deeply. I'm currently overhauling my bedroom since I've had to come to terms with living at home for a lot longer than I anticipated (thanks panini) so I love watching videos like this because they have great ideas. The vertical space usage is really inspiring (I super need tall boy shelves), and I just realized how much I need a storage ottoman. And don't ever let anyone tell you that shopping for months for an extremely precise storage solution isn't worth the time. I too had spent so long looking at drawer organizers to make sure I'd get something that was exact to my needs. I loved this video.

Ah, how lovely it is to see that I'm not the only one who loves going into sytems and optimizations for the pure joy of process and the continuous joy that reaults give!
I have intentionally moved to a smaller apartment so I could have space restrictions and explore multi-functional space use.
Visual neatness means a lot to me. When I come home or even wake up in the morning, I want to have a freah start. If I come into a mess, my energy gets sapped.
The main room of my apartment is the living room that has chill sofa area, and all my crafts each in their box/container in the allocated placement. So I do yarn crafts, sewing, a bit of soldering and woodwork, but this room is also my gym every morning.
And if you walk into it on non-crafting time, all you see is a neat and bright living room.
Every craft box and tool drawer have particular system to them. And same goes for every single otherwise regular storage spaces (dresser, bathroom, etc).
I'm really glad that the YT algorithm decided this could be a video for me. Never seen anyone else over-explaining their systems (except for myself to my less-enthusiastic friends 😅), but I'm here for it!!!
And also: massive kudos and bonus points for "these people are not my target audience".
Everyone's happiness is each their own responsibility.
Stay true to yourself and your content! Glad to have discovered your channel ❤

This pushed me to organize my art supplies a bit more. I have a LOT of supplies and I keep them all in my room, and I REALLY struggle with organizing them, but this made the task feel a little more manageable :)

Love it! Totally agree with the no more than 2 stacks rule. Also hells yes to indoor shoes. When I transitioned to working full time on my sewing stuff I ended up doing physio for a while because my feet were hella mad from me standing all day and then I was told to wear proper supportive footwear in my room so here we are lol.

Thank you so much for sharing. As a neurodivergent person, organizing is my biggest struggle. I often find myself avoiding my space. You gave some really good advice, and it made some things click. Hopefully, I can make a space I want to hang out and work in.

This video came at the right time! I share an office space with my boyfriend, and we never got it set up right. We are moving to a space with a bigger office, and I promised myself to organise and go through everything, to start fresh and get the space right this time. 👏🏻

I love this video so much, when I gained an actual crafting space I made sure every tiny thing had a place but as I type this I sit in a pile of unfinshed costumes and mess! I was about to go on a total organization spree and your video came out at the perfect time! I would love to the process video from a few years ago

It is really nice to see someone enjoy organizing, and I aspire to find it too, but I'll admit I spent four hours yesterday trying to organize(with assistance) a new secretary I bought, and halfway through I was sitting on the floor in tears, sounded be all my crafty things sprawled everywhere... but man, does it look nice today❤

Thanks so much for this. I also started pursuing my dream (costume designer for drag/burlesque!!) just about 2 years ago and honestly it's really tough. I'm so priviledged and fortunate to have a supportive partner so I can do all this. It's nice to know that I'm not a failure just because I haven't "made it" money wise- but fully acknowledge the gift the is to be able to pursue this. Trust all your videos have been my constant companion for this past week, you're a gem!

This is a pretty great craftroom tour. Im overhauling a 11 x 22.5 livingroom into a cosplay and prop craftroom and im definitly going by the idea that every thing has a home. I want it so easy that my kids can help me clean up, thus they can start learning how to build. This is my 1st time here, but youve got my sub. I started my 1st build in 2009 as well. Keep doing what you're doing!

I have no idea how I even got here, since I rarely watch cosplay videos recently (It's been legit probably a year or two since i've looked up a tutorial because i've fallen into the worst slump in my cosplaying years), but you popped up like a ray of light in the dark today because I've been pondering for the past 3 months, how am I going to clean up my cosplay/crafting room. I have a space roughly the same size as yours, and all I gotta say is thanks for showing me your room. Because now I know i'm going to get so many comic book boards and my space will finally be clean. Also the "Make it easier to clean up" was a lightbulb moment for me. lol.

i do art / events / miniatures rather than cosplay but i do also sew! i keep that exact ruler attached to one of my metal shelves with a magnet because drawers are zones of death in my system 😅

Could have watched another hour of this. It was really kind off satisfying to see everything so nicely organised. At the moment i am crafting in a room that is just half way mine and I Just have a desk in a corner, one big box and a drawer. But next year i get a room for myself and I am still collecting ideas of what to do and how to create a nice crafting room and this video really inspired me to not "just organize" and keep things tight and clean but also to make it a comfy zone where i really like to go. Thanks for that ❤

absolutely loved this video! as an artist, i've found that the thing that has stopped me from pursuing any projects is my abysmal organization + random shit i have piled up, collecting dust.
this organizational system is both the dream and super daunting! but i know for a fact that i would not be having a years long art block were it not for me constantly forgetting where my art supplies are, and the amount of effort it takes to clean up after a project - adhd brain going kaput after all that exertion and overwhelm

As a neurodivergent creator my cosplay room is a mess 24/7 and I’ve been desperate to find a way to keep it neat in a way that meshes well with how my brain works. Since I will forget what I have if I don’t see it I actually took the closet doors off that I keep most of my storage and keep as much as I can in clear storage bins or on shelves in the open 🤪 only took buying the same thing one too many times when I already had 4 others for me to finally give up on cute bins or putting things “away”. Love the way you’ve organized everything and will definitely take some inspiration while reorganizing!!
