idk why im watching bc im already a student at GW dkjfgh but on the textbook matter, so true!!!! an advice for all the kids out there, if you really don't want to purchase all the textbooks (especially in hard copy) because they really aren't affordable at all, ask a chinese kid in ur class politely and i GUARANTEE they have a PDF version or at least know another kid with a PDF version. I didn't buy a single textbook this semester except for Japanese (because our teachers write their own), and it honestly helped cut down the costs by a Lot. good luck to everyone applying to colleges!!
Some tips that helped me roll over a ton of money for the next semester: for breakfast, have cereal because 1 box can last you a bit. For dinner, get something big and then save half for lunch the next day. For holidays, get relatives to get you CVS and Starbucks gift cards because those places can be more expensive than you think!
im currently a junior in highschool and GWU is my dream school :) youre like the only youtuber ive seen who goes there and makes videos about the school and im very thankful
Thanks for this video - not too many brothers doing these types of “College Prep” experience videos so this is extremely helpful. My son is finishing his Freshman year (sadly now in Quarantine) at GWU & loves it. He was featured in The Hatchet at the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester - hope when things resume, you’ll get to meet. He “lives” in Gelman if he’s not in the paleo-biology lab. Keep up the great work... your extended Village is counting on you ❤️
lol i commented on your other videos too, but i'm a GW alum and the meal expense struggle is REAL at GW. i actually had it worse because i was a freshman in 2014 and that's when we still had J Street. it was technically like a dining hall but they overcharged for bad quality food and we didn't have enough Dining Dollars for it anyway (we had both Colonial Cash and Dining Dollars back in my day...lmao i sound old). one thing that was always weird for me at GW was the lack of student spirit and campus events. like yeah, individual student organizations had fundraisers and performances sometimes, but there weren't big sports games and campus-wide events that really brought a majority of the student body together. i was fine going out and doing things in the city on weekends with friends, like i do love D.C because there's always something to do, but sometimes i wished we were collectively prouder of our school. the metro sucks (i'm also from a megacity with an exceptional subway system so i'm just picky), but i do also like the access it gives to other places throughout the DMV. you can go to CUA, American, Howard, GMU, Gallaudet (though i'm not sure anyone ever does go there)...i guess there isn't really a direct metro stop to Georgetown (lol Hoya Suxa) but it's obviously not far and the Georgetown area is fun. there are some interesting places in Maryland and Virginia that are accessible via the metro too. Old Town Alexandria is pretty nice.
Yeah it is really expensive around here especially in goergetown one town house is a like a mansion in Indiana or some state that is u now ........ regular cough cough
i’ll be attending GW next semester and i’m honestly so excited but soooo nervous because 1) i have never been on the east coast and 2) i know absolutely no one there
omg whaat you're from seattle?! I have been watching you for so long and never knew that! I'm a senior and am applying to GW! It would be so cool to talk to you about life in Seattle vs. DC!!
1st off, not bad; I've watched only a couple of your videos. My response: How expensive: DC area is actually relatively cheap in relative to most cities in the world. However, the amount you spend and what you spend on is up to you. Meals: There's plenty of cheap options for food in the area, maybe not so much in Foggy Bottom but around Adams Morgan there's some decent cheap options. Groceries: It's probably not the best that Whole Foods is your closest option for groceries. However, if you're willing to make the extra distance to Trader Joe's, that would be a much cheaper option and plus they have plenty of ready made meals that you can just store in your fridge. Clubbing/nightlife: I agree, door fees can be expensive. I'm a bit older and the clubbing scene has become less and less of an interest, but if you're just in to finding a place to go out for drinks or craft cocktails, DC is filled with them. DMV: Totally agree, there is so much to do in the area and fact of how close and accessible it is to get around is definitely a plus. If you're new to the area I personally would recommend just taking a bike and exploring the area and try one of the many diverse food options(Korean, Ethiopian, Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern... the list goes on.).
Hey I’m thinking of applying to GW, I have a 3.6 UW and a 4.1 W. I’m not submitting an SAT, and my extracurriculars include karate, tai chi, club leadership, and a political internship. Do you think I’ve got a chance? Thankss
Depends on what you studied. Elliott School gets the most recognition, but anything related to politics or foreign affairs is solid. Other than that, I think there’s a strong alumni network in the city. It’s crazy to see how many alum you meet by wearing a GW lanyard at work.
I just got into Class of 2024 and this video is helping me make my decision! One thing that I'd like to ask, do you genuinely enjoy attending GWU? I saw a lot of reviews on the internet and some of them hated being there.
GW alum here, yeah we don't have a dining hall. all of my friends who go to other schools think it's crazy too. brings a whole new meaning to "budgeting"
Hey I live in DC and I was just wondering if u have ever been to Friendship Heights or Tenleytown- AU park. That is where I live and it’s so nice, it’s only a few stops from you
Hey I've been admitted to MS in Computer Science program at GWU with $15000 scholarship on my tuition fee per year. Will that still be very expensive if I wish to live off-campus? Also, according to you, what is the overall scenario of Computer Science students pursuing their Master's at GW?
Math up to calc, a history/ social science class, a writing intensive class. Check out the school’s website to see what general eds the schools require and take those
Hey GUY Thx for your videos! Have watched many & you so remind me of my 15 yrs old. Grandson (For 1/2 the school yr before he turns 16 yrs old, yea grade skipped 2x A Senior come Monday) regarding a Silly PERSONALITY tehehe! Anyways yea! My daughter/ his mom ( I dont say his name anymore gulp because I ran it in the ground oops & he doesn't like it) said he has completed Most of if not all of his. Highschool Grades? That he can actually graduate now before his Senior year? You mentioned AP CLASSES (V.P. of his school STEM last year also 😎) which my grandson (darn I forgot where I was going with this? Dont get old kid! Keep drinking the Aloe Vera & Mango word) Anyways yea! It would be nice if those AP CREDITS can/ will work for him to become a SOPHMORE That much faster and Graduate College at 19 yrs old as opposed to 20 yrs OLD @ 4 yrs( yea thats where I was going Whew! Not totally BrainDead gulp) Yea Young man, Ive been watching & forwarding your Videos to the Grandson (my watches aint because I just get a kick out of teens Vlogs! No pun intended tehehe) THANKS MUCH for sharing your Experiences 😎
Hey bro. Nice to meet you. I go to AU. What do GW students think of AU? I have friends that go to Georgetown and I've been there several times. I know GW is on paper a better school than us but honestly I did not like your campus when I drove through since it's integrated within the city. Anyways. Good to meet you.
@@imuRgency Haha lol why. I have no beef towards GW students, just don't like your "campus" that much. Why tho haha? It's my first semester as a grad student at AU haha.
GW students generally consider AU as a school that wants to be GW. the hierarchy is definitely more like Georgetown > GW > AU, but since GW is more well-known for its politically active students, GW students feel like AU students try too hard to have the same reputation, if that makes sense. personally i love our campus and don't like traditional campuses, but i do understand why you wouldn't like it.

Hey man! I'll (most likely) be transferring as a freshman for this spring semester! Your channel is really helping me out!
Thank youu! Welcome to GW!
What level of respect would someone be given in Dc for going to GW?

Love watching your videos🤘
Thanks! I love seeing your comments!
At least you're doing good now
Are you saying your school does not have a dining hall or meal plan? Crazy!!
No, our main campus doesn’t have a dining hall. They just give us dining dollars to use at stores / restaurants around campus
GW alum here, yeah we don't have a dining hall. all of my friends who go to other schools think it's crazy too. brings a whole new meaning to "budgeting"
@@jewel7784 That is crazy. Omg!
Do any of the dorms have kitchen areas that you can cook in?
Yeah all dorms have kitchens
Hey I live in DC and I was just wondering if u have ever been to Friendship Heights or Tenleytown- AU park. That is where I live and it’s so nice, it’s only a few stops from you
I’m a bit confused about the campus distribution. Is it in the middle of the city?
Your outfit is really nice; thanks for the advice !
I peep the bars 🔥 and thanks for both!

Just curious as to why you didn’t apply to UW
Is the dorms expensive at GW?
Yeah we have pretty pricey housing
Boy I never knew you’re from Seattle, let’s meet up sometime when you come over
What college classes do you suggest high schoolers take? Like which ones translate over to general ed classes
Math up to calc, a history/ social science class, a writing intensive class. Check out the school’s website to see what general eds the schools require and take those

What do you mean you GET $2300 ?
Hey bro. Nice to meet you. I go to AU. What do GW students think of AU? I have friends that go to Georgetown and I've been there several times. Tbh GW students trash AU a lot
@@imuRgency Haha lol why. I have no beef towards GW students, just don't like your "campus" that much. Why tho haha? It's my first semester as a grad student at AU haha.
@@imuRgency A lot of AU students don't like GW too. We respect Georgetown but a lot of us talk shit about GW(not me).
I'm not sure exactly why but people at GW claim they're the best for different reasons so idk

Do you need an exceptional score (SAT) to get into this Univ? I am a Filipino btw
