First of all, it's nice to listen to you for the first time. Celine, the only thing I want to mention about 'the incident' at the Villanova game is when Paige got run over the crowd went silent. You know the expression, "You could hear a pin drop", well that's exactly the way it was. I raise that point because everyone respects the way she plays the game and her fan base, I think it's fair to say we actually love her, not only because of the way she plays the game but because of 'who she is' as a beautiful human being! And, Celine, this was not a UCONN home game. It was a Villanova home game. So, when that crowd went silent it said a lot, didn't it. She means so much to the game and her fan base includes kids from 9 years old to young adults at 99 years old. Everyone is praying for her and I'm sure we'll get an update before the Xavier game on Wed. You covered a lot of ground on your 8:28 and I, too, am a great fan of KK and Ash. But you didn't mention 2 players who will have a dramatic effect on how UCONN finishes the season, Azzi Fudd and Aubrey Griffin. I don't want to get into what Geno's rotation will look like but, defensively, the pressure on the opposing team for 40 minutes will be relentless.
Azzi & Aubrey will be HUGE for this team (and some of my favorite players!) for sure! I'm definitely looking forward to Aubrey returning from injury relatively soon and Azzi getting into her rhythm. I think they'll be some of the most crucial pieces come March. The arena (and even the broadcasters!) got so quiet afterwards. Was thankful to hear that it was a minor sprain and not something more serious.
I enjoyed your recaps so much- clicking that follow button now. I am on that KK agenda too, something just unlocked within her after that USC game. Hopefully she will keep playing like this onwards and upwards! Spot on on Morgan! She gets small minutes but in every given playing times, she always have one or two moments that are so impressive! The core is definitely Azzi-Paige-Sarah. These three on the court at the same time opens spaces/offense for others and themselves too.
I can't wait until the day that you have the credentials to be an interviewer at the post game press conferences! I think everyone in Huskies Nation should be a subscriber!
KK hit a 3 and it brought me so much joy. I hope she keeps it up. Once she can shoot it at a respectable rate teams will start closing down her hard and it’ll open so many options for her game. She’s definitely been our most impactful player outside Paige and Sarah since USC. I was a critical of her in November and most of December cuz I knew she had this in her
I was the exact same! Sometimes it's the players you are the highest on / believe in the most that you are the most critical of & nitpicky with just because you know they have more in them! KK has done a fantastic job stepping up to the plate these last few weeks. The future is so bright for her.
Okay I'm going to be so honest ... The captions on the video (not the usual ones I create for the TH-cam caption button, but the captions on the screen) were a total accident! I forgot to delete them before I downloaded the video from my editing platform. 😂 But let me know if we prefer having them on-screen in the video as well and I can continue doing that. Whatever works best for people! Thank you so much for watching as always :)
I like the captions. You speak with enough clarity and annunciation that I can understand you but I’m sure one day I’ll have the volume low and I’ll be reading them
You want to make this a KK & Ash propaganda podcast, feel free to do so. And as we go along, you can add Morgan and hopefully Jana to the mix. Definitely the future of UConn WBB, regardless of how this season plays out. And of course, Sarah will get her daily shoutouts as well :-)
The KK and Ashlynn propaganda will continue, don't you worry! I am just so high on both of them + Sarah as well. Morgan and Jana deserve a TON of praise. They've definitely been on a positive trajectory and that's exactly what the team needs right now. Really hoping Geno plays Jana more (I felt like I barely saw her on Sunday! Only 16 minutes) in the future.
My thoughts... Ice brady continues to underperform. UONN has some height and size, but that only matters if they can work it out on the floor. I would like to see Jana (who is gorgeous) become more mobile, she tends to get stuck in place. Quicker thinking during the play like where do I pass it?
First of all, thank you for the captions lol. A lot of TH-camrs usually don't use captions often. Just a few. I truly appreciate that. Yes, I agree with everything you said. Especially the way Paige is referred. I know the refs saw one player who grabbed Paige's shirt as she rebounded for the ball but didn't bother to call anything. You can see it in clear 4K resolution. Reckless officiating is more dangerous than anyone thinks because that could lead to unwanted injuries eventually since many teams think they can keep getting away with illegal contact. It could have prevented that. Hope Paige is 100% alright as she seems. The team played extremely well without her on the court in the fourth quarter which is a good sign tho. I'm so happy to see KK's current progress. She kind of gave me Moriah Jefferson vibes because of her speed and energy. I can't describe how much I love her energy. Glad that Geno finally acknowledges that KK makes an impact on the team, especially after the USC game. If she continues to grow her confidence, I'm pretty sure she will be ready by March. Same with Morgan. She plays extremely well in her big role with extra minutes. The smaller ball lineup does work very well. I truly wish Geno could give Jana more minutes to get used to it and be able to dominate the paint if she is in the game longer. 15 minutes is not enough. Jana is slightly improving daily. Looking forward to her progress. I have zero doubts about Sarah. She is a beast. She easily makes me forget she is a freshman when she dominates the court. She hardly backs down with defense when she struggles with offense. Same with Azzi. When Azzi and Sarah's shots are falling, UConn is going to be a huge threat. I'm still anxious about the upcoming Tennessee and South Carolina games in February. Do not sleep on Tennessee since they have the ability to make a huge comeback. No matter what happens, I trust the Huskies will learn from these games. We were told that Aubrey will return in the middle of January. Her presence could help with perimeter defense. We will see. Keep up the excellent work! Looking forward to the next recap!
Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! Wanted to ask: Do you prefer the captions on screen (as they appear in this video) or if they just pop up when you press on the captions button? I usually do the latter but will definitely consider the former if it is preferred. I think your comments are all spot-on! I am also nervously anticipating the Tennessee & South Carolina games but I'm hopeful that the team will progress quickly in the next few weeks. Jana getting more minutes & becoming more comfortable on the court in this next stretch of games will be HUGE for UConn.
2nd game in a row. This seems to be the 'really small' lineup. Someone mentioned here, or perhaps on another channel, that playing Ice at the 4 and Jana at the 5 would be interesting. Either giving Sarah a breather, or move her to the 2 or 3 and bring on KK and Ash and have the 'young' lineup on the floor. I saw last night Iowa benched the starting 5 and went with 4 freshmen/sophmores and Ediger (lillte used senior.) And it worked, so maybe the 'little' lineup something Geno should consider. At least experiment with while there's time.
I did mention the point about Ice & Jana in a previous video! I remember Geno playing a bit of KK - Ashlynn - Allie - Morgan - Ice in the third quarter of a previous game, so a similar young lineup. It was definitely interesting to watch and I thought it was a good idea to get the younger players reps in "regular" game play rather than just at the end of Q4. Now is the time to experiment with lineups for sure! (While also beginning to make them more consistent. It sounds like a paradox.)
@@ceeinmotion Just picked up on your videos a game or two ago, so have missed commentary in earlier videos. Not a paradox, both need to happen, but you won't know the combos that work best without the experimentation. And there are teams small won't match up well with, think So Carolina, particularly if Watkins isn't seriously hurt. So Jana and Ice need floor time, whether backing one another up, or on the floor together.

@@ceeinmotion Yes, indeed! I listened to Geno's update last night and it definitely sounded encouraging!

I really appreciate the compliment! Definitely was a childhood dream of mine.

And Morgan played the 5 at one point!
And she was holding it down! It has been incredible to watch her progress so much in such little time. What a player.
