- Not since "Avengers: Infinity War" or "Avengers: Endgame" has a comic book movie felt so… full.
While "every character ever" would be something of an overstatement, this live-action third entry in Tom Holland's "Spider-Man" series packs in appearances from tons of major characters from "Spider-Man" movies past. If you're just going off the trailers, you ain't seen nothing yet -and if you think you know who we're talking about, add a few more surprise cameos for good measure.
But not everyone from the Spider-Verse made their way into this blockbuster. Here's everything you need to know about why we didn't see these characters in "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

The more realistic answer that no one seems to bring up is that these characters did get transported to the MCU but they were never found before Dr. Strange sent everyone back. It was by pure chance that Ned even discovered the other Spider-men, so imagen how many were never found in the short 12 hour span the movie takes place in. Both Harrys, Mary-Jane, Gwen, and Raimi's Eddie Brock were probably wandering the streets confused until they got sent back to their universe.
And the fact that not everyone who knew who Peter was got sent to the MCU at the same time like Doctor Strange said there are more coming through also Eddie Brock definitely didn’t get sent to the MCU because if he did then he would’ve been on the news and Tom Holland Spider-Man would have hunted him down also
not everyone was teleported to Tom's universe. If you saw the movie you would see that after doctor strange messes up the spell for the sixth time (yes there were only 5 auditory revisions by peter but the 6th was so strange and the avengers wouldnt forget either) the room exploded causing a spacelike background of purple and blue with glowing figures to pop up. Only those figures were teleported, which was the villains and spidermen.
Because he said no girlfreinds = MJ no aunt may and best freinds= ned
actually it wasnt pure chance. He made portals with the same magic doctor strange uses it. The portals are activated by his mind. The first portal was activated bc he was flailing his hands around wishing peter was there. Thats when andrew appears, then Tom's MJ says since multiple universes came together to keep doing what he did before until the right peter comes
Make everyone forget I was Spider-Man except "my girlfriend" MJ, "my aunt May", Ned(What's a Ned?) "He's my best friend", Happy, and basically anybody who knew I was Spider-Man before (Mysterio?)... I take it by those rules, no Kirsten Dunce MJ or Emma Stone Gwen (GF), No Raimi or Webb Aunt May (Aunt May), No Franco or DeHaan Harry (Best friend). Venom only came through because of the shoe horn at the end of Venom 2 with a hive mind that stores memory from multiple universes (Topher Venom knows Peter is Spider-Man) allowing Hardy Venom to come over. Guess it still don't explain why Topher didn't show up too but I don't think anyone is really complaining
I was secretly wishing Franco's Harry would be in No Way Home. I really liked his character a lot, and his arc was my favorite in the trilogy.

The only character I thought it was crazy that didn't show up was the vulture. It's crazy because in the 1st movie they tease at the sinister 6 and this would have been the perfect opportunity for it.

I haven't seen the movie so there could be some voice lines I haven't heard but, it could also be their relationship relating to how peter is spiderman. But he does dress like he is divorced.
He’s now married to the Russian girl, eating cookies, and living his best life!
I’m pretty sure it’s related to how him and MJ were grieving by the movies end together. Now that they lost their best friend and only have each other, they were put into a situation to confront of their original issues together. I’m sure Peter does many other things to help MJ and be understanding as she does for him.
I like to think many of these characters did get brought back and just never got involved. The other two Aunt May's were just walking around NYC confused.
The other Aunt Mays didn't know Peter was Spiderman in their respective movies

Would’ve liked it if there was an extra ending scene showing both Tobey and Andrew returning to their universes. Tobey would share a brief dialogue-free cameo scene with Kirsten, reuniting with MJ and their daughter. Andrew would reunite with Aunt May, with Sally Field returning, and also have him visit Gwen's grave with more pride and acceptance.
this is a good idea , but its to much , the movie is already 2 hours and 30 min , so it would be 3 hours if they add that + details is not a good thing in movie making !

Do y’all not remember Peter clearly asking strange to remove “his best friend and girlfriend and aunt may” from the spell. Mary Jane, Gwen, Harry and the aunt Mays are all removed from the spell since in there world Harry is tobys best friend. Mary is tobys gf. Etc. pay attention bru

@@becidju when dr strange is casting his spell of making everyone forget that peter parker is spiderman, peter interrupts him multiple times by saying let his aunt maym best friend and girlfriend still know that he is spiderman. gwen and mary jane are spidrmans gf in their universe, harry is tobey's spidey's best friend and the 2 aunt mays of their respective universe. thus all these ppl are removed from the spell hence they don't appear in the movie

Now, Sony can literally bring back McGuire's and Garfield's Spider-Men in future movies without raising an eyebrow. Reboots can now be bypassed ignored and/or embraced by other iterations of the character and franchise(s).
Interesting fact about the Venom universe - there are Mutants in it! Shriek was called a "mutant" and was imprisoned in a asylum for people "like her".

Bruce Banner is actually busy helping Shang-Chi. He is in the end credits with Carol.
Tom Hardy’s Venom was in No Way Home; he was in the Post-Credit scene. While we don’t see Venom’s full physical appearance in the film, we do hear his voice and see the symbiote. Besides Venom, Eddie Brock makes a full appearance in the same scene.

I heard that there was going to be a scene where the three Spider-Men talk about the Green Goblin, and where Andrew would have mentioned his version as well....but it either got cut or just wasn't filmed.
Maybe he doesn't want to mention his version of Green Goblin because if he did, he'll remember the moment when Gwen died because he's the one who killed Gwen.
I didn't expect Venom to show up in anything other than a post/mid-credits scene. However, I was pretty disappointed when they pulled him back out of the MCU. I would have loved to see him on the big screen with Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Mainly because these characters are either dead and/or there is no need for them the movie is called Spiderman not Bruce Banner. Also venom was there to leave a bit symbiote behind for a future villain in the mcu so his short appearance is a big deal
According to Tobey Maguire he wanted simplicity for his Spider-Man's return. His character has a fair history and he loves the idea of people being creative with how things played out for the past 14 years.

Was the reason that the Harrys, Aunt mays, and MJ/Gwen didn’t appear
I think they could’ve added only 1 more villain, not more not less. Just so that they could finish the Sinister Six. I think they could’ve made one of Hollands old villains reprise their role, like the Vulture. I think he would have been a solid addition to the movie. It would’ve made a lot of sense especially since he’s gonna be reprising his role in Morbius anyway, but maybe there’s a reason why he didn’t show up in No Way Home which I think will be explained in Morbius. Another person they could’ve added was Scorpion who was in Homecoming as well, but I guess they’re saving him for the College Trilogy. One other thing they could’ve done was make Tom Hardy’s Venom actually feature as a villain in the movie, and to be honest I felt the whole bringing him in and taking him out just to add the Venom symbiote into the MCU is kinda dumb

Mistake as Banner/ Hulk was last seen in Shang Chi end credit scene.
Gwen and Mary were in the movie but the pandemic messed things around and they weren't available at the time after securing everybody else at varying times it didn't work but they'll be back they are offering spider Gwen to Emma. We'll see, everything will be awesome for sure.

Fun Fact: a friend of a friend has inside on Marvel since they work with them. No Gwen because Emma was pregnant at the time. Also no Miles because the casting would have needed to be perfect.
I suppose they could have brought in the girlfriends (Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone) to hang out with Zendaya. That way Andrew/Peter and Gwen could have had their happy ending and she could also become Spider-Gwen while Mary Jane Watson and Michelle Jones-Watson fight over who is the real MJ 😀

Here is something you overlooked for Franco's GG.
Everyone brought back into NWH was from the moment they died. They were on the edge of afterlife when summoned. And as far as timeline goes, Dafoe's GG died, Doc OC died, and then Franco found out the truth.
So at latest we are looking at Octavius's death. By this time, Franco's Harry wasn't a villain. He was sure filled with rage and feeling of betrayal but not a villain yet. So there was no meaning in bringing the character back.

Although that could be a very great theory, in the film Tobey’s Spider-Man explained how he’s working through the relationship with his MJ. So we can all assume that by this time Harry has died. But I also assume as well, that these are characters who were killed by the hands purposely by Spider-Man.

Mysterio should have returned in no way home taking credit for framing spiderman and would have completed the circle of every spider man villian from each movie also he is an OG member of the original sinister six.
Not seeing Topher Graces venom return at all was a bit dissapointing I was wanting for him to be healed of the symbiote and see him become friends with Tobey. Just thinking about it, I realise that it wouldve been perfect

I read somewhere that they tried getting Emma & Kiersten in, but with Covid restrictions and what not, they weren't able to. If they didn't have the restrictions, then they would've been in it for sure.
The treatment of Hardy's Venom in No Way Home is as much a big slap in the face as Grace's Venom getting nuked instead of held off putting him in 3 or maybe end it with the transformation and build it up for the next one which would've made up the lack of screen time he got
It served a purpose. Leaving a spawn in the Holland Kiddiverse is perfect while allowing Venom to be on his own which is maybe in the ASM verse
I would've loved to see the Rami harry Osborn, especially seeing a scene between him and Tobey's peter. Would've made me bawl so hard

I like to think most characters did show up but didn’t join the characters in no way home, like for example:
What if Harry from Tobey’s spiderman is sent to Tom’s universe right after he finds out about Peter being spiderman in the sequel so he doesn’t give himself the goblin serum yet and Oscorp doesn’t exist so he is just a guy in New York

Miles may not be Peter Parker BUT he knows that Peter Parker is spiderman so 🤷🏻♀️at least in the animated film.
I mainly think he didn’t appear because miles doesn’t have his own independent live action film yet. So it would just be some random kid on screen with no back story or past connection to tie into like the other two spidermen from the past.
Imagine having Miles from Into the Spider-Verse just popping in with live action people, that would be nuts, and doesn’t fit sadly xD

The reason only 5 people from the other universes showed up was because, Peter only changed strange's spell 5 times.
My theory is, at the end of Venom 2, Venom said it had knowledge and power that no one knows and said that for all symbiotes.
My theory is that the 2007 Venom symbiote made another version of Eddie its host in Spider-Man 3, but when Eddie and the symbiote died, only the symbiotic survived and moved to another universe. It had been living in the current Eddie Brock’s universe from 10 years, moving and making many people its host until it found Eddie Brock who changed Venom. Eddie Brock doesn’t know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but Venom does. And since Venom was inside Eddie, it transported both of them to the MCU and at the end of the movie they got transported back to their home universe.
Another theory: What if, at the end of No Way Home, Venom went back to the Raimi universe and Eddie went back to his.
If that's true than how would the small droplet of venom stay in the MCU?
I bet Garfields spider verse is where the Hardys Venom and Morbius is.

The only other member of the Sinister Six that was needed was Vulture. It would've been perfect since he knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man; Green Goblin or Sandman could've easily gotten him out of prison.

For Amazing Spider Man 3 should see Gwen Stacy return and see Gwen become Spider-Gwen and have it be where the realities are still in disarray and have Gwen return but not as The Amazing Spider Man incarnation but a Gwen with Spider Powers of her own.Harry Osborn could’ve returned through cameo by having Spider-Man explain to Green Goblin that he was possessed by the same illness that controls him and that he was able to overcome it in the end.TAS2 version could return but he could return at The Amazing Spider Man 3 with Harold Osborn joining in on the chaos and seek vengeance against Peter and align with Alistair Smythe.TASM 3 Aunt May could just be mentioned by name and that she is much older than the Aunt May from Tom Holland’s universe.Venom shouldn’t get involved in any of the movies and just have Venom explore the Multiverse and this would lead to Venom leaving pieces of himself in each reality.Sam’s Venom could’ve appeared in Spider Man:No Way Home maybe having Venom make an appearance and decide to take something away from Peter Parker by finding an interesting way to torture Peter and still be consumed by the same evil that once possessed his Peter.

A lot of these explanation missed the fact Dr. Strange says he contained most of the spell but “some” came through. It just makes sense not all characters are going to appear.
With the bit of venom that's in the mcu I personally think it'll attach too either ned or even flash so we get agent venom in the mcu

Alright but can we talk about how it took so long for Tom's inevitable (thanos reference) "great power comes great responsibility scene". Can we also talk about how childhoods were remade and broken when that time came bc we all believed aunt may was gonna stay alive for sake of comedy, but ended up dying and reminding us of all those aunt's and uncle's of the spidermen.
End credits stinger with a few loose end ties would have been great!

I think the characters like Harry, other Harry, tobey's mj, and Gwen etc. were brought back, but they just were in a random place, like how tobey and Andrew were just wandering the streets before Ned warped them to their place.
The villains were never saved. In the middle of the movie they were all explaining how they got to tom's universe, and they all described the seconds before their deaths. Curing them wouldn't have done anything because norman osborn now cured of green goblin plaguing his mind was milliseconds from getting impaled so when he transfers back he just gets impaled. Doctor Octavious was explaining him falling in the super collider. Although he would have control of his arms he was still milliseconds from falling into fireball with no way to get up. Idk bout the villains of andrew garfield bc his movies are bad but they still became speechless in the movie when they realized they were describing their deaths, curing them wouldn't have done anything for them either bc they were also milliseconds from dying

It's not about giving permission in this case. Marvel can make a Hulk movie anytime they want. But Universal has the exclusive right to distribute it and Disney is not cool with that because they want ALLL the money 💰

I get the vibe Sony didn’t give marvel permission to use the venom character otherwise he definitely would’ve been in the film, it also explains why electors theme plays for literally a few seconds. They weren’t given rights to the song and it’s clear if they wanted to get them they would have to pay big amounts
Honestly I really wish they would’ve brought back Dane DeHaan’s Goblin. If they managed to fix Electro they could’ve done the same for DeHaan’s Goblin, since most of the TASM content in the film was pulled from TASM2 anyways it would’ve been a bit more fitting tbh than Lizard who quite frankly contributed nothing of worth to the film, and I feel like just having a variant of Harry (and for obvious reasons it couldn’t have been James Franco’s) would have a much more interesting impact on the story as well as more interesting interactions with the other characters, especially Dafoe’s Goblin. Especially given how frankly, DeHaan’s Goblin was much more similar to Dafoe than Franco’s ever was.
actually bruce banner has been seen in the mcu because at the end of Shang- Chi, there was a post credit seen where Wong takes Shawn and Katy to meet Captain Marvel and Bruce making them honorary avengers

You could say that they didn’t bring Harry in because stranges spell brung in everyone that knew Peter was Spider-Man from a certain time line in their universe. So Harry hadn’t known who Spider-Man was at the same time that his dad was brought in.

Bruce never met Peter. He was in space during civil war until infinity war. By that point peter was in space then got dusted. Bruce wouldnt even have a clue of what's going on bc he doesn't know Peter
I think a good reason Topher Grace's Venom didn't show but Tom Hardy's did is because things kinda flip floped. As was said in the video Eddie Brock knows Peter is Spiderman, but somehow the multiverse chose Tom Hardy's Venom (who didn't know peter was Spiderman) because he's Like Topher Grace's Venom.
I think that the reason the aunt mays, love interests, and harry is maybe that when the first spell messed up Peter brought up mj, his love. Ned, his best friend. And his aunt may. So that’s what I think

Bruce Banner was shown in Shang Chi end credits scene, still in an arm sling but in human non Hulk form, alongside Captain Marvel via some video link talking to Shang Chi, Katy and Wong over at the Sanctum Santorium in NYC. Shang Chi took place after Loki and Wandavision, but before Eternals, Falcon & the Winter Soldier, Spider-Man Far From Home/No Way Home, and Hawkeye. Bruce Banner/Hulk, will be seen next in She-Hulk series which will also have Matt Murdock aka Daredevil since She-Hulk is also a lawyer.
Wish they can do a short film called "what if during the events of no way home". Where the other bad guys did appear off scene but didn't encountered Tom Holland spider man but Tom Hardy Venom.

Topher Grave Venom would have been extremely cool to see but would have also impacted MCU Venom’s first appearance. Since Tom Holland Spider-man would already be familiar with the symbiote.
Well, at the end of the movie, there were number of visitors who trying to sneak into the Tom Holland’s universe, which eventually prevented by casting the spell. That could be explained that they could be some of the visitors.
