Can’t wait to attend this school. Currently a freshman in high school and i’m trying to stay on top of my grades and going to go all out in the next few years. Going to be really difficult but i’m going to make it. will reply to this comment after i apply. God bless 🙏
I’m curious if prior service, have to go through the same initial training. Because I’m already on active duty in the Air Force, as an Airman First Class (E-3) and have already completed BMT. I’m thinking of wanting to go from Enlisted to Officer, and I know the limit for academy admission is 21
Actually, I can only find that admission minimum is 23. Unless USAFA pages are wrong. Because I’m looking at doing the same thing. Looking to get the process started after my promotion to E-4 (SrA), which will happen within the year.
Yeah, they probably would cut you some slack since you have already been operational, but they will give you responsibilities to set the example as a leader.
Why do we even have service academies anymore? ROTC and OCS/OTS produce many more new lieutenants for much less money. Retired officer here, ROTC. Academies were needed 150 years ago when very few went to college. Now anyone can go to college. Also keep in mind the new lieutenant from the academy and the new lieutenant from ROTC/OCS are both second lieutenants. Have worked with academy grads and ROTC/OTS grads. The academy grads generally aren't as flexible, in area where you must think on your feet. Time to close the academies, use them for professional military education, etc.
Bizarre, with all that shouting nonsense at the recruits. First day in the RAF, they're given a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake before their butlers show them to their apartments.
Currently a cadet there, they’re MTIs. We don’t do much without the oversight of “permanent party” or some sort of enlisted or officer looking over our shoulder. That’s basically the enlisted’s job is to make sure training is being effectively run
I saw this upclose in 2023 "I Day" It is ridiculous and unnecessary, but it does set the tone. My take. Abuse is permissible, acceptable and encouraged. I asked several people part of the cadre process and they said "It's fun" It seems those administering the abuse consider this "Fun" Fact is US AF Academy is isolated on 64000 acres of government land in Colorado Springs. A major concern at USAFA is Mental Health but that is not taken seriously by the Administration. I Day is the beginning of a damaging process where nastiness is de riguer. General Brown is leaving and a new USAF General has been appointed. I ask, when is it likely that the new Commander will recognize that humans need to be encouraged to assist as opposed to continuously humiliated by someone with a higher rank? I answer, "that's not likely to happen because the US military has far more people trained to torment as opposed to being trained to help.
To anyone who was a guest of initial entry training for the Army, Navy, Marine Corps or the Coast Guard, sorry, we're snickering at this. Zoomie cadets are just not intimidating. This isn't 'abuse,' by the way. No one is striking anyone, and I don't even think they can say potty words to the new cadets. It's just the BS every new service member goes through. Not a big deal. When I joined the Army in the nineties, I would have been overjoyed at this.
But with shouting and all, you’re giving your cadets the adrenaline rush, way of thinking and correcting and mental strength they actually need or experience when in real danger
По психологии, крик наносит пост. травму на мозговом уровне подсознания, как бы страх, что человек должен обратить внимание и внимательно слушать. Это тонкая психологическая обработка людей. У людей, все как у зверей, крик - превосходство и контроль.
To ensure and train you to know what you're doing within a high-stress environment. There will be a lot of that even after training, and it will not come from yelling people next time.
My point is this. Obviously the training is not working. The rest of the world looks at our military and laughs at the leadership. We have the most advanced communications and military ordinance in the world. We spend a trillion dollars each year to support our military. It's not the money or the material that's failing us. It's the leadership there is none. So the lessons learned in finger pointing, dodging responsibility and harassment may have worked when you were in the military but we need something different today. Repeating the training that you may have received is the definition of insanity. It hasn't worked. We should see a more powerful military a more efficient military and a more respected and feared military. That is not what we have today. Great leaders have great empathy they are not callous or immune to suffering. We fail when we seek dominance over another to satisfy our own selfish nature.
If you think this is abuse you have been living in LaLa Land for too long. The first order of business is to get recruits to follow orders. Considering the number of corrections being made, these recruits couldn't find their butts with both hands, a flashlight and a full set of directions. The cadre is for the express purpose of breaking down the belief that a "mistake here and there" is no big deal. When following orders you must follow them to the letter, not "in the neighborhood of..." If your mental health is that fragile, you don't belong at the Academy. Get out and find a job where you can use your battery of excuses for being incompetent.
I am very happy with this video, because it describes the form of acceptance of new soldiers in the USA, greetings from SUPER GARUDA SHEILD 2023
This is the Air Force, these are not soldiers.

@@raisedhalkey they are called airmen in Air Force instead of soldiers (this one is for Army)
@IlanJimenez Soldiers is an umbrella term. In the army, it's not officially soldier either, it's infantryman.

its not meant to encourage. its training and its meant to pick out those who truly stand out over those who break. quality over quantity.
