- Big thanks to Trey Hensley for joining us at IBMA, we had a real short time to shoot this before Trey had to go rehearse for his portion of the 2023 IBMA Awards Show. The best part is Trey ended up winning guitarist of the year that night. Congrats buddy.

Fantastic interview!
Hey you’re the guy! 8:56
😂
Trey is one of my favorite guitar players. So good.
The "something like that" David Grier quote at the end topped it off!
Those impersonations shows the beast in Trey! So much dynamic to his sound and style, really drives a punch to the music in all the right places! Great video ❤
#3 GOT DALE?
He's up there on the list. I mean, wayyy up there. So good.
Trey is the man! Great video Marcel!
That Marty Stuart/Earl Scruggs story was amazing!
Trey's Martin sounds awesome - it is so powerful
Great stuff! ❤
Wonderful interview with another amazing guitar player and story teller !
Thanks Marcel !!
Trey is the best. He should always sound like himself.
Marcel thanks for this! Trey is an incredible talent and seems like an incredible guy as well.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing Marcel!!
When playing Doc Watson... did he just close his eyes while playing?
Another banger!
Excellent Marcel, brilliant interview technique.
OMG this is. great combo of people
Wow, amazing
such a cool down to earth guy everytime i see him
Trey's sense of humor and comedic timing is awesome. And he can melt a guitar.
Fab interview, superb picking. Inspired, I went straight on to eBay and ordered an old vinyl copy of Flatt & Scruggs 'Songs of the Carter Family' (no CD available here in England). Something like that anyhoo ...
Hahaha I'm in stiches at the Chatahoochie green screen. I've never seen that before. Although my brain is also in a bit of a green screen right now, too.
That plant is a crime!
The plant continues to be the star of these IBMA videos!
One of you best. Am I hearing a little Django Reinhardt At about 1:29? Next time Marcel Red Haired Boy Django.
The tune is Tipsy Gypsy by David Grisman!
@@MickeyAbraham2022 Thanks. Doesn't it feel Django-ish?
He said sound like anyone besides yourself and then marcel asked him to play like all these people that aren’t him. Lmao
Excellent stuff. Love GT wonder who the tone police guy was. Joaquin Phoenix? lol jk
Best content as usual but… Grier with no xpicking?!
That was a Don Kelly comment btw
Amazing as always…I got a request you should have Carl Miner or Allen Shadd on for an interview
Allen is the friggin best
@@Wificationish agreed imo he is one of if not the most slept on players
Carl Miner PLEASE!
Wonder what Trey thinks about Jeff Gordon?
❤
Man that martin sounds great, but than again, who's playing it ;)
That tony rice was 🔥 🥵
No disrespect to Trey , he is phenomenal, he nails Rice and Doc but sorry can’t do Grier. No One does Greir
I wanna know who told Trey to sound like anyone other than himself.
Once went to a small show Guthrie Trapp was playing and realized the "rockstar" mentality is in bluegrass too. He was so awful to the sound guy that night and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Stopped listening to and watching him pretty much altogether. Every time I'd put on a video of his after that, I couldn't focus on his guitar playing, I'd just think of how he was acting that night and getting second-hand embarrassed for the sound guy.
Hell of a guitarist, disappointing character.
That had to Don that made the 'can you sound like anybody other than yourself' comment, lol.
Don?
@@allenronaldson4381 Don Kelly, that's the gig Trey would have been subbing for Guthrie in at that point in time. Don is a famously cranky curmudgeon, many well-known Nashville guitars got their start in Nashville be playing for Don at his insane Robert's Western World gig, a true trial by fire.
