Your statement that MMM is the best vocal group isn't actually that controversial. I'm sure some people will disagree but MMM is generally considered to be the best female vocal group of their generation.
Mamamoo was the first group to debut under their agency RBW (Rainbowbridge World). RBW was a tiny startup agency back in 2014 so MMM started from zero without the clout of one of the big agencies to support and promote them. The other groups you mentioned are all under the Big 3 agencies who dominate the Korean music industry (the Big 4 these days with Hybe/Big Hit). You could say MMM started from less than zero because according to all the industry pros at a pre-debut showcase Mamamoo was supposed to fail and RBW was told they were crazy to debut them. MMM didn't fit the standard female idol image because they weren't cute and girly and each member was a reject or a retread. Wheein & Moonbyul had previously been with another agency, Hwasa had been rejected by other agencies and was told she was fat and ugly at one at least one audition, and Solar had failed over 40 auditions because she was thought to be too old. RBW signed them because they recognized their talent & creativity and eventually their amazing vocals, riveting stage presence, bff chemistry and endless hard work carried them to success.

@@jsquad3497 YW. It was hard to hear but I thought you asked about their label/agency so I thought you might like to hear some of their underdog to top dog story with RBW. RBW has its flaws but they have a great ear for vocal talent - every RBW group has exceptional singers: boy groups Vromance and Oneus, rock band Onewe, and girl group Purple Kiss.
Yeah, folks get upset over claims that so-and-so is the best but almost everyone agrees about MMM including their peers, senior artists and even CEOs of rival agencies.
Mamamoo holds a different place in kpop they are very respected by other idols. I love them. You should react to their mama 2019 and 2018 performance. It was lit asf also you react to bts reaction to their mama 2019 performance like omg it's so funny. V is the biggest mumoo

There's nothing wrong with what you said, everyone on planet earth knows that Mamamoo as a whole are the best female group in terms of vocals, Red Velvet is the only other group that you can put against them in my opinion. Unfortunately Mamamoo have been caught up in multiple controversies which is why they're not as popular internationally as Twice or Blackpink, but Mamamoo are very popular especially among adults in Korea because they present themselves as mature women and sing lots of songs that appeal to the Korean public, add in the incredible vocals they are very well respected especially amongst women since they promote feminist ideals in their music and beyond. They are under RBW entertainment, home to Purple Kiss, Onewe & Oneus, all groups under RBW have incredible vocalists it's one of the charms of that company.
it's not the controversies. a lot of Kpop groups have controversies, including BTS and Blackpink. Mamamoo don't make live shows in the West so they don't have huge international fanbase. Blackpink have done many live shows in the West(and they were lucky that they did it before covid), appeared on late night shows, Coachella that has average of 250,000 attendees in 3 days, etc so they gained massive international fanbase. even if Mamamoo wanted to do live shows, etc in the West now and increase their international fanbase, with covid they can't. Blackpink have done it already and gained their fanbase so covid doesn't affect them.
Here's a little breakdown of the group
[[ MAMAMOO ]] is a four-girl artist group, under Rainbow Bridge Ent, where each member has an individual asset to bring to the table and make them shine brighter as artists.
• SOLAR is the leader and in charge of high notes. Her stage name was inspired by the pitch notes of Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La, which also indicate to this. Despite being the oldest, she is perhaps the weirdest, funniest, most lovable creature in the world.
• MOONBYUL is the rapper and performer for the group. She is a girl crush icon in Korea and internationally; many women literally scream when they see her (we have videos for proof) ;)
• WHEEIN is known for her sweet, honey falsetto voice. But despite being the shortest in the group, and supposedly the "cute" one, she actually thrives the most in R&B concepts and such. She's done many covers by Bruno Mars, Destiny Rogers, and Kelani. They're wonderful.
• HWASA is the youngest of the group, but looks the oldest. Because of her irresistible charms, her striking visuals and her sultry soft voice, she is the 'it' girl of Korea. She was the first Korean female soloist to win the social artist award (or something similar; I'm afraid I've forgotten the correct name).
Although it may come as a shock, the girls were not always so popular and successful. They were given a lot of hate back in the day, especially because of their unique visuals that did not fit Korean beauty standards. They were called chubby, androgynous, thick, fat, tan and many other things. But after some dynamic speeches and songs [like their single HIP] their uniqueness began to outshine the haters. Now they are one of the most respected and popular groups in Korea, and slowly gaining popularity internationally.

The first song is about being in a relationship where your partner love you more than you love them, which makes them a "twit" (fool). Maria is her baptismal name, and she sings this song to herself telling herself that she is pretty enough, and that she shouldn't be sad. Mamamoo is managed under RBW Entertainment.They made their debut in the year of 2014. Other groups under RBW Entertainment are ONEUS (boy group debuted in 2019) , ONEWE, PURPLE KISS( gg group formed in 2020), VROMANCE (vocal group).

Solar and Hwasa can do growls, fry's, rasp, husk, etc and they draw attention. the majority of people will be drawn from vocals that stand out like growls, fry's etc. on stage and MV Solar and Hwasa are fierce and sexy and Moonbvyul is cool/badass so they draw more attention. that's why in the West Wheein is underappreciated.
but in Korea and Asian region things are different. Wheein is appreciated more than any member of Mamamoo. in 2015 Wheein won in Duet Music Festival. Park Bom from 2ne1(legendary kpop group. a lot of kpop groups are huge 2ne1 fans, including Mamamoo) wanted Wheein to be a feat to her solo song 4:44. this song was supposed to be solo but Park Bom was impressed with Wheein's voice and asked her to appear as a feat to the song(Wheein only has 1 verse cause the song was written as solo). she is 1 of the top artists that other artists want to collab/feat, especially for OST. producers go crazy to get her and sing an OST. she will release another OST on November 19. she has the most solo songs from the members of Mamamoo and the most feats/collabs(more than 20 songs). Wheein - Anymore hit number 1 with 0 promotion. 1Thek which is a major distributor for Kpop globally has made a top 5 Korean female vocalists in general. Wheein is 3rd and she's the only idol in the list. in Korea and Asian region Wheein gets a lot of attention. when they do a live show in an Asian country(unfortunately they don't do live shows in the West even before covid) Wheein is usually #1 trending on twitter.

@@jsquad3497 the CEO said that he wanted singers that can sing. Solar was rejected from 40+ auditions cause she was considered old to be a trainee. Hwasa was rejected for being ugly. RBW CEO didn't care about Solar's age and Hwasa's outer appearance, but he cared if they can sing. all groups of RBW are amazing vocalists, including the band OneWe. in a lot of Mamamoo lives, the band that plays the music is OneWe.

More live stuff? Queendom - I miss you, good luck, destiny. You should watch the actual immortal songs II from mamamoo. This was just a medley of some of the songs. They are all fantastic too. My fav is Delilah (yes, Tom Jones Delilah), however, if you try to upload a reaction it will get blocked. It is a big shame that this happens.

Yeah, it's really not controversial. I remember on Queendom, Hwasa was working on a duet with a girl from another group and the person who came to critique them told her she was too good for kpop. They, for me, are kind of like BTS in that they don't really operate the same way other groups do. They were all underdogs with an insane amount of charisma and raw talent. And that's what they start with. Their music. Wheein is my bias--I think she probably has the most versatile and technically perfect vocal in all of Korea. But they're all so good. Even Moonbyul the rapper could be a lead vocal in any other group. They're talent for vocals is just beyond anyone else in the game.
1TheK has made a top 5 Korean female vocalists. Wheein is ranked 3rd. and 1TheK is not a nobody. it's a major distributor of Kpop that shares Kpop globally.
