You are a Legend Sir.
I used to come here 7 or 8 years ago... I then became a professional Dj, played clubs, held residency in several places, did some festivals and made a small name for myself around my area in Brisbane Australia. I can say your tutorials helped me a lot at the very start. I left the industry 2 years ago. It`s good to be back here after all these years watching you again... Such a good channel with so much good info.
Hope you`re doing well these days... you deserve it mate! All the best.
Still checking your stuff out years back. Very salient point. "You Do not need to mix in every track"
would love a tutorial on this.
Dude this is why I rock with you man! Thank you for clearing that up. As an aspiring dj (still on beat matching lol) I’ve seen videos about always beat matching then transitioning into the song. Glad I saw this first.
My pleasure👍🏽👍🏽
Took me a while to get used to not mixing everything, but the response from the crowd always solidifies this point if you drop into something we'll know. For instance, pretty boy swag has a glass shattering effect at the beginning of the song which can help you drop from just about any tempo/genre into something that will get a hip hop crowd hyped. Try it!
I could not agree more! You absolutely nailed this! As a freelance club dj myself, I prefer to loop when switching between large bpm differences, and when all else fails with a certain track (i.e. 128-80 bpm), I've found that just a simple crossfade has just as much of a positive impact, plus, you can ensure that you don't miss the recognizable parts of the track and throw your crowd off. Plus in my opinion, to have some difference in mixing makes it more authentic, and helps to not make your mix appear to be fake by being 'perfect'.
I understand what you are saying, but definitely need to watch the other videos and then practice. Thanks soo much for sharing, you put it in a way that's much easier for me to understand than most dj's do.
So glad I found your videos. I'm 31 and just now getting started. I've wanted to get turntables since I was around 8 years old listening to The Beastie Boys and The Phunk Junkeez with my stepdad. I just finally ordered my first turntable a few days ago. Numark pt01 scratch is in the mail!!! Much love for sharing your knowledge and skill. I'm tuned in. 💜🔥
you r the best and selfless dj i have seen on the world, thank you for giving us that much of tips,i keep learning skill from your video
weikuo zhou yea dude by far one of the best and he's a beast on them tables SMH
For real though, s/o TLM ! Love from South Africa, Africa
Tried some of your tips at work tonight. Dropping on the one is great with party music and from party to rock. Best crowd reactions for a long time. Keep the vids coming sir
Great! Yeah, dropping it on the one let's the crowd hear the new song from the beginning and that can (sometimes) lead to better reactions.
Big shout out to you TLM, been watching your videos since i started DJing and really helped give me the knowledge and confidence i needed to get me started. From sharing my mixes, to approaching bar managers, to my first gig, to my first residency. Hats off to you!DJ Cashis Atlantic Canada
I have the Numark MixTrack ProII. I often turn off the scratch function on one platter and either backspin to slow down as I bring in the next track or speed up. That's one that has helped me even if I don't match them perfect I get the effect of a speed change and pull it out by lowering volume or more often than not using a filter to help with hiding any errors.
I use word play. Word play is huge! Use key words to transition between hits. Yes use hit songs! Then you can get creative. Practice and be creative!
+Mac Joseph can you explain how this works.
Sure. Do a search in your playlist using a title of a song then play that song then match words from that song to the chorus to another.
Mac Joseph Thats a dope idea
this dude speaks and educates with passion.TLM.ur a good man
Big respect on these informative videos. Even as a vet I use these tips to get more creative in the mix.
Another quick tip that may help some . I do warn that this method shouldnt be overused , otherwise itll just make you seem as if you dont really have real mixing skills . The tip is you may use the filter knob to muffle out a song but not completely so people can still hear the background a little bit and carefully bring in the second track. Most importantly look for points in the track where there isnt too much going on so it sounds a lot smoother such as on breaks or the beginning of a vocal. This can help a lot if you do it precisely and carefully . Also be aware of the EQ's cause that may throw off the smoothness of the transition. This is just one way i like to do it . Hope this helps anyone :)
finally a dj that actually knows what the hell he's talking about and how to explain things. cheers bro! thank God for people like you to balance all the waste of time posters. will be subbing and following for future tips. most of this is basic stuff but I like that I can already tell you have vast knowledge about mixing. I'm into production more than dj'ing because I like to create music to mix into my sets but every major group these days does both so I'm getting back into mixing again. have about 150 unreleased tracks I've completed over the last year so really hoping some of them catch the right people's ears. thanks again for sharing! :)
Big ups to DJ Tlm sharing the knowledge, I am a new Dj learning and he is helping so much.
👊🏾
I’m getting there with your help! Thanks buds!!
Your training videos have really helped me out a lot, really enjoy them, and I just subscribed, which is kinda funny because I've been checking you for about a little more than a year, please continue, you're the best on here, thanks!!!!

Awesome video!! Dj TLM you rock love your videos. Love how you go into details on how to mix and Dj keep up the good work...
Respect to You Always From 🇵🇷 And Orlando FL 🙏🙏🙏 Sharing the Knowledge
Thanks TLM. Having problems with this. Appreciate it!
This is helpful if you’re gonna dj at a school or something that involves a crowd with diverse tastes 👌
thanks for this I'm looking forward to the tutorials as well.
Awesome tips. Thanks for doing this. Kudos
Thank you so much for this video! I play trap and house, so I face issue a lot. This will sure help!
Great introduction for newbie Djs, appreciate you sharing bro
Great advises and tips. Thanks a lot!
YES PLEASE! I'm a hip hop and trap dj/turntablist so my bpm can vary A LOT. I usually approach this by planning a head, building up or mellowing down the vibe. That way i normally don't go from 85 to +120 bpm. But trap can vary a lot in bpm, even with the same energy. I found key mixing helpfull too when mixing trap.
Since you play mostly hip hop and r'n'b and i guess you have played a fair share of trap too. So i would really like to hear how you deal with this.
I have a gig next saturday, where i will be playing trap, so it would be awsome to get some fresh ideas while i still have time to practice.
And thanks a lot for the videos. They helped me out so much through out the time.
Cheers!
George Poullo I can’t agree with you enough
Excellent DJ....really nice tips and tricks. Following all ... ^^
Appreciate the tutorials as always. Any plans to give us a break down on the MIxed in Key software? If so, can you hit on whether it works for regular Scratchlive or is it just for Serato DJ? Thanks so much for all the info throughout the years
Smart way of adjusting the bpm of the echo. I Have to try it out for sure! :) / FLX
Very helpful, brother. Thanks.

Great. Keep it up!
bro you're so helpful, earned a sub
Awesome video! Would you ever make a video on how to use alternate musical instruments(MIDI and whatnot) in live performances? I'm thinking about buying a novation pad, but not sure yet. Thanks in advance!
Thanks again for all that you do .....
DJ TLM, I have a question for you. When you are DJing a party, how many songs do you play from one genre, until you switch to another genre?
DJTLM have you made a video for this??? Id love to see a demonstration!!
Thanks man, gold stuff
@djtlmtv..... are you gonna do a part 2 organizing music / making crates video?....looking forward to it
excellent, thanks!
did you put out the tutorial you talk about in this video? i kinda want to see how you use that echo and faster bam loop, you say 85 to 128 which is nuts
Andrew Patty I would like to see this also because it sounds like a very unique transition technique. I'm running out of new creative ways to transition throughout my hour long stage times and hate doing too much of anything repetitively. if you find the vid and wouldnt mind sharing the link it would be much appreciated. thanks :)
better is to move the bpm at half so 64
Andrew Patty Well if you use serato hit the tap area on the FX counting the 128bpm instead of the 85bpm and hit the Tap to so the FX take it at 128 and when you hit the echo Boom the magic happens... I am still learning around 15 years but always learning and thanks to DJ TLM because he alwasy sharing the knowledge as i do too thanks to him..🙏🙏 @djtlmtv
Hey quick question. What are the dj pools you are speaking about in the video. Can you provide the links to any of them? Thanks.
Nice background, switching it up I see
great tips...
Hello thank you so much for your video i have a question
should i use Key or bpm for a better transitions ?
thank you so much for your answer :)
How do i find out the best BPM partners or Blending? For example: 128 - 96 or 140 - 70 . When you mix those BPM together, They sound good!
Thanks! in advance
It may sound funny but I use sync so I can remix hip hop songs with uptempo 125 BPM songs. Try it it's so much fun! I will do a video response
I usually use sync for emergencies adjusting the tempo is the one you have to get used to first
+RENE HERNANDEZ yea sync is used for remixing tracks in huge range of bpm. for example 103-125bpm.
Good video thank you for tips
thank you for this.
awesome....which is why i subscribed
AWESOME BRO ;) LOVED THE VID
Wow I didn’t realize that DJs made “transition tracks”. Is this something that they sell or give away?
Great topic
Thanks you Brother For the vidéo
Where to find the full tutorial for this??
For Christmas I might get a pioneer xdj Rx or numark ns7 iii they both cost the same amount and are both stand alone mixers which one should I get?
+john chapman If you are a turntablelist, just go for the ns7 iii ;)
+Theo K. Agree
+john chapman depends what you want? the xdj rx can run off usb sticks so you do not have to connect your pc and it runs recordbox so your pretty much set for playing on cdj's in a club
on the other hand the ns7 has rotating platters and are super cool for scratching and it looks super cool
so if you are going to be playing in a club that have cdj's then the xdj but if your going to play with your own controller or only in your bedroom then take the one that is the most interesting to you
and i would suggest that you go to your local dj store and try out some different gear and if they have a dj working there then ask him what he finds most important feature wise
i look for something with a screen. i love to be able to use usb's (especially when i have friends over) that way its easier because i don't need to find space for their laptops.
Just consider that if you get the Rx you are limiting yourself a lot,its a nice controller but it only has two channels especially if you're dj-ing a long time it will get very annoying and you can't upgrade it like the ns7,but on the other hand not needing a laptop for the Rx is huge.
+john chapman, what did you end up getting? I have the Numark ns 7II. the platters feel good. a lot of buttons to learn, though.
Excellent teacher. Would really like to pay you for a lesson
nice one !
yessir here 2022 tryna get right get up with it
A BIG BIGUP goes to You DJ Tlm
Thank you sir
Do d Jay's put there's sets in one folder or do they just play from every folder n genere

Wow thks
Still waiting 👀
looping with tempo speed explain... pls.
Cool taught
It sounds like you're trying not to speak too loudly, was everyone in the place sleeping? good tips regardless, I just know what you're voice can sound like and here it seems soft.
+thehouserocker Yup! Kids and wifey were sleeping :)
djTLMtv djtlm have you made a video about this????
How to mix while kids and wife are sleeping tutorial.
👍👍👍
Word, don't mix everything. Lately, I've heard two different DJs mix "Uptown Funk", like, huh? That's a song you drop on the '1'.
You could, or you could blend it perfectly (as I tend to).
Everyone would know the start of uptown funk so dropping it on the one would have more of a “wow” factor. That’s what this comment was implying.
Sir Show practically
I have a video (or a couple) showing this, but I’ll make another one👍🏽
you just one time listen to mc stan tadipaar you can really appreciate him
1st 😀
😆👍
Thanks for the info.
