Thank you for stopping by! In this video, I'm creating two 30x30" pieces on canvas using a (somewhat) limited palette.
My work is inspired by my love for fields of flowers. You'll see me create it from start to finish. There's no music, however, you'll hear me talk through a lot of my process and discuss products/tools that I'm using.

Hello and welcome! I'm Betty Franks and I create my vision of abstract fields of flowers using acrylic paints and pencils (and other mark-making tools). I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel a couple of times a year to Preko, Croatia (where my parents live). I started painting in 2012 and focused on abstract art in the summer of 2015. These 2 paintings rwmind me of an airial veiw of beautiful rock pool gardens somehow at the moment where you are up too now which is just over 2 thirds of way through. I absolutely love how they are looking right now. 😂❤

I just want you to know that I watch a lot of your videos. Even though, I have an extensive background in fine art. I have learned a ton from your videos. I painted in oil for 20 years and it was satisfying to a point. I sold art. I had a one person show. But watching you, has unleashed such a passion and joy. I was meant for acrylic and abstract. I studied under many published commercial oil painters who would intimate that I leaned toward abstract. I continued with representational oils. You would crack up to see my before and now. And would love to send you examples. But what I want to say is thank you. But more, I fell in love with you as much or more than your art. I find myself painting very similarly to you. But not the same. You are such a beautiful giving artists. It’s one thing to be a commercially successful artist and another to bring joy and inspiration to others. This may sound over the top. But you are the bomb💕 and have beautiful art. A huge fan, Ann

Hi Betty! I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time and just yesterday, after having watched this video, joined your mailing list. I really love this video and the resulting paintings. Some time ago you mentioned having taken a course with Robert Burridge. I wasn’t so surprised to here that. He is the first TH-cam artist I started to follow and still now, I think it’s been 7-8 years, I watch the new video he puts out every Monday. I’ve found many others to follow, subscribe to, since, and took an online course with Nick Wilton last spring. - I wish you were not so far away. Some of my other favorites are in England! What you said about listening to books and painting at the same time is interesting. You are using both sides of your brain, so to speak.
Yes, very true! However, when I use my left brain, my right brain is freed up to create. Give it a try!

I have been listening to audiobooks while painting since February. I agree it totally frees my creative mind. I think it keeps my analytical brain busy and out of trouble lol. It was nice to hear that you have a similar experience

Hi again betty. I've just watched this video for the second time (on slow) and I just love these two paintings. They truly are 'works of art'. The colours you have created are just gorgeous out of so little - yellow, blue/green and which was the other one please (if you can remember..)?
