During the 70's I was stationed in New Mexico in the Air Force. One day I was driving in town and saw a white Rolls Royce parked in a Seven Eleven parking lot. I never saw one up close so I pulled in and got out to look at it. It was occupied in the drivers seat by a man. I told him I just wanted to look at the car. He got out and we were talking " cars". A woman comes out and and I immediately recognized her and she noticed that I recognized her and said hello " what are you guys doing?" I said I was looking at your Rolls " she said "we did a concert and thought it would be fun to drive out from LA to do the concert." Darryl immediately stopped talking when she came out and never said another word. It was bizzare because there was no talk about them singing or music. She got in and I said goodbye and and they drove away.
I always wondered if Daryl Dragon was on the spectrum. He always seemed a little ADHD/Sheldon-ish. A lot of folks on the spectrum are absolute geniuses but not capable of displaying the same emotions as someone who is not on the spectrum.
I think you mean Autism spectrum, as in Asperger's. ADD would have him distracted but still capable of great love, while ADHD would have him excitable and dynamic like David Lee Roth. He strikes me as very intelligent but emotionally stunted, like an Asperger's person.
Finding out that Daryl Dragon didn’t love his better half kind of ruined their hit songs. But to be fair, Daryl’s father (film composer Carmen Dragon) apparently turned out to be a real brute to his family, and unfortunately Daryl learned the wrong type of lessons.

Please don’t try to make this into some kind of normal romance. Tony is empathic, and the captain was a straight up neglectful narcissist. The captain was abused as a child and it damaged him for the rest of his life. A neglectful, narcissist withdraws and withhold affection. They have no idea what love is at all. In many ways, they aren’t quite a human being. Imagine a grown-up man with the emotional maturity of a three-year-old child. Read the biography. Tony’s autobiography read it. You’ll see. He was really awful to her. And the sad thing is it was nothing personal. It would’ve been better if he were awful to her, and it was personal, because then they could’ve both moved on earlier than they did. There’s nothing in there as far as he is concerned. He is a great absence And he defines himself by what others reflect to him. It’s pure hell to be trying to get close to somebody like that, and for a woman like Tony to Neil it must’ve been absolutely hell. It got worse and worse overtime until the very end he just withdrew from every single person. In the beginning, it was very very confusing for her and in the end I think it was dream easy for her to walk away. He had burned everything that she had to offer. And he didn’t even know that he was doing it, because he has no ability to love anybody. And here’s the kicker he couldn’t even love himself. So it’s not some kind of crazy normal passion. It’s something that most people simply cannot understand and yet when they look at him, he has eyes, ears, and he looks like a human walks, like a human talks like a human has arms and legs like a human, and yet he is not a human. A three year old child trapped into the body of a grown man is not a human being. As she said, he was never happy. Let that sink in. It’s not normal. It’s pure hell. It’s hell to be around a person like that. In my opinion, the flowery idea that this is some kind of noble romance is absolute crap. Imagine the pressure that she must’ve felt to stick with this guy because he was integral to her growth as an artist, and everyone thought that they had the love of all loves. And yet it was absolutely empty and cold. It was frozen and horrible.
