Ian…a fascinating and special man with a delightful ability to communicate technical details with great simplicity and deep, deep knowledge. I have been a VSCC Member since 1983 but learnt far more from these two videos than I have ever known….drivers I have seen but never spoken to….cars I know well but without knowledge. Thank you Ian..I wish I had done more than photograph you over the years.🙂🙂🙂
I thought I’ll just watch five minutes and watch the rest later, no chance glued from the beginning, the dog had to wait for her walk. Fabulous and riveting as ever ! Genuinely makes you want to go out and purchase a vintage car so much passion from everyone…
I was sitting next to you at the Bugatti Trust when we were celebrating the 1924 Lyon Race 100th Anniversary, Ivan, it was great to meet you and have a chat, sharing that historic event!!
Part 2: VSCC Vintage Prescott Sunday will be published tomorrow. Lots more smiling faces and enthusiasm. Plus a closer look under the bonnets of some Edwardian racers.
When I was a boy, every Wednesday morning I used to wait in eager anticipation by the letterbox for my copy of the "Eagle" comic to be delivered. Now, I wait with the same eagerness for the next edition of "Shed Racing". Ivan, you are an inspiration.
Suzy! This was just lovely. All the people coming to see you both and the wealth of knowlege Ivan can impart is beyond expectation. The HiDef video footage works very well indeed here in the Black Forest. The olde chap is a leg-end in his own lunchtime. I recognise many faces from when I used to stall out at Beaulieu.. Hope to see you in October at the latest. Bw Mike.
Yup, you can find me in the backround at 31:07 (green hoodie). Although I don’t look like I want to be there i always love going to car shows, especially hill climbs, and I’ll probably keep going to them in the future!
Thank you Susie for all you do the share Iven with the rest of the world! Just imagine if a network would see Ivan from your videos it should be a hit program! Anyways Thank you and Ivan from Alberta Canada Cheers!
That was fabulous! I had to watch it three times, to even begin to appreciate everything. The cars, the noises and the chat. Can’t wait for part 2. Kudos to Suzie for the filming and hello from Ormskirk.
Ivan in his element.... talking old cars with old car enthusiasts..... that must have taken some editing suzy..... bet he chatted all day!!!. Fabulous.... I regret not going to Prescott for the event now.....
Ivan boils an egg would be worth watching! Lovely video, looking forward to P2. Very nicely put together Suzie. PS: Tom has a great channel and is very detailed on how to shape metal.
Picked up a Dodge to race at Mallory a few years ago from Hickey. I was very impressed with the operational Bridgeport mill on the rear lawn of his house.
Don,t you just love these meetings; the banter, bonhomie, characters etc & that,s before you get to Ivan! I remember when they put the Ettores loop in in 1961.
Thank you Ivan and Suzie. Its such a pleasure to watch your videos and learn so much by the time they end, that includes "Health and Safety" on your roofing channel Ivan. God bless to all the crew that make this possible.
I love VSCC events I could just walk around the paddock and the carpark. You always find something you haven't seen before. Got to get to Prescot and Shelsley next year.
Ivan I’m 63 and have been in motorsports my entire life and you make me feel young after watching you for the last year or so …. Good on ya!!! Keep going!!
I enjoyed that thank you. I like the Morgan freewheeler made me think because I know of one and I know it hasn't moved in 45 years because it's buried I'm going to see if I can dig it up one day one day.
Fabulous. So many "super" cars and people. I have been wondering if I should restore my 1982 CX500 motorbike or use the horizontal V twin engine for a special project. The Viper car may have sold me. Many thanks and congrats to you both.
These racecars are motoring works of art. Proper engineering and imagination. You want to go faster, make or modify something, and not just a couple of taps on the key of a laptop.
I’d love to know what treatment is on the exhaust of the Salmson. This comes from the owner of an Austin 10 just like Ivan’s Dad had which I’ve owned for 59 years.
Like someone said a timing strut. Worth looking carefully to see the variety of clever ideas and materials. Mostly light and sometimes cobbled up from bits out of a bin when someone forgot about it until the day.

What's most encouraging to me, is the number of younger people who are there. It can only be good for the future imo.

I was amused to see an AUS sticker on the car behind Ivan and Hicky when they were sitting and talking.

A grand day out. I saw Ivan and Suzie chatting with competitors in the paddock. 😎
Picked up a Dodge to race at Mallory a few years ago from Hickey.

And 2 Squariel motors at once. Love it . Keith
Coupled to a Norton Dolls head gearbox all sitting in a GN chassis and brilliant to drive!
I love VSCC events I could just walk around the paddock and the carpark.
You always find something you haven't seen before.
Got to get to Prescot and Shelsley next year.

Mr Dutton's portrayal of Franklin Bean in George Clooney's Fantastic Mr Fox has never been truly recognized for its superb brilliance.

He may not be very tall but he’s a giant of an engineer
These racecars are motoring works of art. Proper engineering and imagination. You want to go faster, make or modify something, and not just a couple of taps on the key of a laptop.
Don’t forget to hit 👍
On your Salmson,is the toolbox next to the loud pedal your cruise control?!
Nice vid.
What a great group of people, to say nothing of the cars.
I’d love to know what treatment is on the exhaust of the Salmson. This comes from the owner of an Austin 10 just like Ivan’s Dad had which I’ve owned for 59 years.
What are the little “fin like” things on a rod out of the front of several of the cars?
To break the timing beam at the start and finish lines.
Like someone said a timing strut. Worth looking carefully to see the variety of clever ideas and materials. Mostly light and sometimes cobbled up from bits out of a bin when someone forgot about it until the day.
A lesson for widows everywhere as to why you should never put your dead husband in a cigar case..........
👍🇦🇺
😀
33:50 haha he's pulled again😂
🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧
What can you say 👍👍🇦🇺🦘
So good to see talented young people there - @Metal_shaper_tom is a good example whose TH-cam channel I only found because of Ivan's video
