Anyone else remember the special stage where they had big groups covering girl songs and girl groups covering boy songs? Specifically the one where Key and Shindong did Muzik with a few other people? EPIC. Also HyunA and few other girls doing Heartbeat by 2PM
yep. i watch it all the time. the other 2 people was Lee Joon and Mir from MBLAQ. when i say i loved that performance i mean i LOVE IT. i've never forgot it.
They had a final special 360º MV for Canvas (Hate's album bside) before disbanding, honestly it was super low budget but the song is so good and Jihyun made the choreo for it in like 3 days because they wanted to prepare a special stage for the fans
4Minute is the group that introduced me to K-pop and remains my all-time favorite. Watching their MVs again brought back so many memories. 😭 Jiyoon and Gayoon are my biases. By the way, they had a unit together called 2Yoon with a completely different concept (and the mini-album is great). It's definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Jiyoon also pursued a solo career under the name 'JENYER' and is still active in music, releasing new work even after the disbandment (she’s also part of a group called PRSNT with two other guys, though I don't know much about it). Jiyoon truly loves making music and often releases it independently-I highly recommend her song 'BAD,' it's fantastic. I’d love to see you react to 2Yoon’s '24/7,' 'Why Not,' and 'Nightmare,' as well as JENYER’s (Jiyoon) 'BAD.' I'm happy you covered almost all of their videos, though it's bittersweet to remember how few comebacks they had (usually just one a year) and how poorly CUBE managed them. But it reminded me of how much I love the group, and they will always be a part of a very special time in my life! feel like many people forget how important and impactful they were in K-pop I love your reactions throwback 2gen girl groups reactions, and I hope you continue! I can't wait to see you cover other iconic 2nd generation girl groups like 9Muses, After School, Secret, and Rainbow, Thank you so much for reacting to 4Minute. Greetings from Brazil! 💚💛
4MINUTE Member ages at debut: Jihyun: 19 Gayoon: 19 Jiyoon: 18 HyunA: 17 Sohyun: 14 "Hot Issue" by 4Minute is a song that celebrates the group's confidence and influence in the music industry. The lyrics portray the members as trendsetters and assert their dominance, emphasizing their unique style and persona. The song encourages listeners to follow their lead and embrace their individuality. In the chorus, the phrase "from head to toe" and "every single thing of mine" conveys the idea that every aspect of their appearance and personality is seen as significant and captivating. They radiate a sense of power and control, inviting others to join them in their journey of self-expression. The verses highlight the members' self-assurance and distinctive traits. They express that they are not easily imitated and encourage others to try to follow their unique style if they desire. The lyrics also emphasize their influence on various aspects beyond just physical appearance, such as their perspectives, observations, and even the way they speak and dance. The chorus repetition of "One, two, three, four, for 4Minute girl" further emphasizes their fame and popularity. It serves as a reminder of their continual impact and influence, reinforcing their position as an enduring presence in the music industry. Overall, "Hot Issue" is a song that celebrates 4Minute's individuality, confidence, and power as artists. It encourages listeners to embrace their own unique qualities and follow their passions without fear. -SongTell 4Minute (Korean: 포미닛, often stylized in all caps) was a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment, consisting of members Jihyun, Gayoon, Jiyoon, Hyuna and Sohyun. The group was known for its edgy dance-pop style and "girl crush" image that attracted a large female fan base. On August 31, 2009, Korean broadcaster KBS banned the playing of the song "Won't Give You" because of inappropriate lyrics, specifically the following line that roughly translates to "Starting from today, I won't give myself to you. Now, I will never give you my entire heart. Now, I won't ever give myself to you." In response, Cube Entertainment stated, "The lyrics for "Won't Give You" is about the pure feelings of a girl to a guy. We are very disappointed that the lyrics were deemed inappropriate."
Thank you for your reaction! 💕 I‘m still so mad to this day that they disbanded right after Hate, because at the time I felt like they had really found their sound with Crazy/Hate. Also members like Jihyun and Sohyun finally seemed more comfortable and confident, Jiyoon‘s rap got better with every song and in general they had such great chemistry in the end. There was also a lot of international hype for Crazy/Hate, but Cube (as always) had to fumble the bag… In general a lot of 2nd gen groups seemed to have vanished at their peak, like 4M, Miss A, After School and Secret. 😢❤
Thank you for reacting to this gem of 2nd gen KPop. All the girls were fabulous at the time, maybe the first to introduce the sexy badass girl concept into the industry. Check out the drama that surrounded their disbanding, and what HyunA has been doing solo. She is the Raunchy Girl of KPop and got dismissed by Cube Entertainment for dating E-Dawn without asking the management first. Dearest regards from a fellow German, mach' weiter so Alter, ich mag deinen natürlichen, ehrlichen Stil!
17:00 yes they are from Cube as well. They are Beast also known as Highlight nowadays. 4minute and Beast are two of some of the biggest groups of their generation. Money makers of Cube but of course Cube still decided to do them dirty despite of them being the main reason why Cube became one of the biggest kpop companies back in the days.
4minute had so much more potential but once again pushing one member really destroyed the group (same thing that happened with miss a & secret). Hot issue was a nice debut but not enough to compete with the top groups at that time. Hyuna's return was also viewed as a betrayal by wonder girls fans. She supposedly withdrew because of health issues yet she debuted again in a different company in like a year even though her parents were against it. The group has a very EDM-ish dance pop image especially in their early years. Their concept was hip , fun and sexy (because of Hyuna) despite the fact that the maknae Sohyun was in middle school. What a girl wants is not really my type however it did well for some reason. Huh is so good. Def my fav song of theirs. They guys in the start are BEAST from Cube if im not wrong. By that time the company had lowkey created the image of the group. Girl crush with tomboy Jiyoon and sexy fatale Hyuna as the center. The one sitting on throne is indeed Jihyun the visual of the group. I my me mine the best sequel for Huh. Once again we going for the sexy dance party pop song. Btw let me express how ugly those hairstyles were. Also Jiyoon's all rounder position was getting more and more clear with each comeback! The part after the dance break is everything btw
Hate was, sadly, the song and mv that killed 4Minute. The members knew they were taking a chance because it was so different, but it's something that they felt strongly about. In fact, before they released the mv they released a short video asking their fans to please give the song a chance because they didn't know what would happen if the song failed. Even though the song sold just over 250k, it was their worst title track by far in terms of sales - also it followed Crazy a big success. Their company also spent a lot of money on the mv. Now it's likely that Hyuna would have ended up leaving at some point, but she realized that the company was never going to be happy again - and that was the beginning of the end.
That's a lot of japanese song of them u react. Haha.. some are i have no idea. Shame on me for that. Haha.. about Hyuna, she's always been the 'face' of the group, because she's well known even before debut in 4 minutes, she's already popular for being in Wonder girls under JYP which she later quit because she thought the group concept didn't fit her (correct me if am wrong. This is what i remembered back then). It's like nowadays group of l've and lee serafim which are popular because of their former members of Iz*one. Same goes to Hyuna debut with 4 minutes being the most popular one
Actually, Hyuna didn't leave Wonder Girls because of the concept. She left due to health issues at the time, and her parents thought it was best for her to step away from the group to focus on her health, specifically related to her physical condition and low blood pressure
