These are great color recommendations, thank you! I would love to be able to buy colors customized to my taste, but I find that buying open stock costs more than twice as much as buying the sets.
Thanks, Tyler :) I am very happy to hear it was helpful. The price difference is vast from region to region. In Europe the sets from Sennelier and Caran D'Ache are sometimes more expensive than buying each stick individually. They are still very expensive though.. makes me really think about which colors I need.
Amazing video, if you have to make a basic palette of 10/12 of these pastels for portrait, what colors you choose? I don't paint and i wanna make a gift haha. Thank you!
Oh I love this question and that's a wonderful gift idea! I just looked at my swatches and I found a palette that could work. First these 10 are for skin tones, lips and hair: 33 sepia 1 white 92 brown madder 212 Mummy 017 violet grey 240 light english red 25 flesh ochre 233 luminous yellow 220 permanent intense red 26 yellow ochre And then these 2 on top for special shadows and blue and green eyes: 226 sky blue 85 Chromoxide green medium If you want to make it a full starter set maybe also get two paper stumps for blending and some lightly textured mixed media or pastel paper. (I usually paint on 130gsm paper). Hope this helps you and makes an oil pastel enthusiast very happy :) Best wishes, Francis ☀
Wonderful... thank you for the additional suggestuon
I love the way you presented the colors and how you replaced them, it's a great way to present them in video~
Thanks, Prudence ☀️🙂

Thanks, Chantelle! Sennelier is really a joy to work with 🙂
