Hey Tom! Is there any reason why you didn't used the Batman suite from BvS in JL OST? There were so many great moments where this theme would've fit perfectly
I'm an upcoming audio programmer and audio technology devloper. I have a basic question: Do you think there will always be new (and groundbreaking) music software/hardware?
You talked a lot about which instrument you put in which register. I was curious how much discussion there is between you and the sound department. I can imagine that in scene's with a lot of dialogue or heavy sfx's you might choose different compositions or instruments.
I've noticed some of the synths but not every single one of them. Korg Prologue, Moog Matriarch, Moog One, Waldorf Quantum, Yamaha Modx (white), Komplete Kontrol S but what are the others? Maybe i've spotted Korg Wavestate or Minilogue XD? And please do At The Speed Of Force episode because that one is such an beauty
I loved how this theme was used during the flashback to the old gods. That was a nice touch to show how the Justice League is the return of the heroes.
MINE TOO. I keep finding my mind wandering on back to that theme no matter what I’m doing but I guess that’s what I get for watching this movie 10+ times 💀
Tom. The whole score is a monumental achievement. This Batman theme actually unsettled me in a 'this is metal' kinda way. There is so much in that score. The familiar, the different, the unsettling. Just awesome. A journey. Thank you
There are strings running in the background at 7:55, I really like it, it's almost like a second theme. It's completely drowned out in the official version to the point I never realised it was there.
I just love how much caring and enthusiastic tom is for the fans, He's just as hyped as us and always interacts with a lot of amazing stuff to learn like this.
I don't think anyone understands what an achievement it is to write your own score entirely on software and have sounds emulating real orchestral instruments and getting the mix just right. Tom. You're a genius. I aspire to compose like you do 🤘🏻
Tom you knocked it out of the park! Congrats, man. I really like "At the Speed of Force". So good! The emotion and vibe and wonder of this track, fit so well. You're amazing.
Tom I’ve seen the movie twice now, I bought new speakers so I could fully appreciate it. Your music has been screaming out of my home for hours since.... It is absolutely phenomenal and enough to bring a guy to tears.... thank you so much
Your „Demo“ of it sounds amazing. What I like to know is what Zack‘s reaction was when you played it to him for the first time.... did he get goosebumps? It‘s always interesting to hear about a director‘s first reaction to a musical piece they have so much enthusiasm about. Thanks for your great channel 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Of course it does. The Remote Control Productions team invented a way to record orchestras that makes it sound just like samples. It's incredibly disrespectful to the musicians that their sound is changed!
6 people accidentally hit the dislike button because they were too overwhelmed by how awesome this video is. This song and the whole soundtrack are amazing!
thanks for putting up and sharing with fans and rest of the world how you did such an amazing composition... you, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Howard Newton, Morricone are to me like the Mozart / Beethoven like composers from centuries ago brought into this day... we can't thank you enough for the wonderful inspiring music... lots of loves !
Absolutely loved your score for the movie. My favourite track is probably 'At the Speed of Force' , the visuals paried with that song created one of my favourite scenes in recent memory. Hope you can talk about that track someday.
This is seriously one of my favorite pieces of music I’ve ever heard. It’s beautiful yet impactful, it’s elegant yet powerful. It truly is the song that represents the Justice League.
Thank you so much in creating this studio time Tom, I'm pretty sure you are the only film composer who takes the time to show others how you work and compose your scores,
You did such an incredible job on this soundtrack Tom! I loved the new Amazon/WonderWoman theme, the score when Superman battles the league, and when Batman goes on his suicide mission.
I’m a trumpet player meaning I love brass !! Specially towards the end. When the trumpets come in with a concert G. Sounds so full, so brave, so powerful.
The theme song for "Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE" feels much more epic & powerful than the one composed for the "AVENGERS" feature film series 😊 ! This has become one of my favorite comic book superhero movie theme songs 😊 ! Thank you, Tom Holkenborg 😊🙏😊🙏😊🙏😊🙏 #Restorethesnyderverse ❗❗❗❗
Although I mostly agree with you, I dont think we have to compare them, the two scores represent what each team is. The Justice League is God's living among men whereas the avengers are men who constantly have to face gods
Dear Tom, HUGE THANK YOU for your music for Zack Snyder's Justice league!!! The sound is AWESOME!!!! Best regards, SnyderVerse fan from Russia! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse p.s. I really hope that you will join the work on the second and third parts of Justice league!
I saw the film and really liked it. Much better than original cut, although took a while to get used to the 4:3 aspect ration. The music, was of course, incredible. Really appreciate these videos you do Tom. I managed to watch all S4 Studio Times you currently have up and some great info. I don't if it was in this video or a different one(s), but a couple of great things to keep in mind with my own writing. 1) When doing an action cue making space in the orchestration for the driving drum/percsussion to really cut through and not be muddy. Something I've had an issue with, but now know to look for. 2) Keeping celli and double basses in octaves, particularly for action music and leaving over an octave space between celli and violas so you can fit in the lower brass. 3) Using motifs not just for the melody but also for ostinatos. 4) When doing hybrid tracks leaving room in the EQ spectrum for the electronics. Just all fantastic tips. For future videos, and I know you've done a bit in the past, would love to see how you are using the various plugins, including your reverb setups, and also some more into how you use the software synths, especially Massive and Omnisphere. Thanks Again!!
Sir,i know you read comments... Now i have your attention.... Your theme score is *THEMENDOUS* Thankyou sir for everything you definitely did JUSTICE to us.
Revisiting this again, it's really unbelievable how open you are with your process, it only makes it all the more awesome to be a fan of yours! Suuuuuper dope, this channel! Cheers Tom! We absolutely love it
Junkie, this is hands-down the BEST episode of Studio Time so far. This episode it's just not a showcase of random bits but you actually talk about your process and how you are doing things (a spectrum analyzer to show things and to support your point would be cool tho). Thank you! That's how I always hoped Studio Time would be.
Thanks for watching everyone! If you have questions, leave them below and I'll try to answer them in upcoming #AskMeAnything videos. Oh, and please subscribe if you haven't already. It really helps the channel. Enjoy!

I’m gonna be honest, I know nothing about how music works but it’s cool to see how a composer makes his music
Music gives you emotion that means it works for you : )

You can see on his face how proud he his on his own work.

Yup! Top notch!
If I made a track that epic, I'd be proud too.
