Feels weird rewatching this knowing that D&S's steamers/mikados are no longer coal-fired. Well technically K36 481 is still coal-fired but the rest fleet of the operational engines are all oil-fired being 473, 476, 480, 482 & 493.
Yes I had the fortune of visit in Sept and saw her in the round house then heard shortly after of the plans to restore her and I believe 486 both to oil but I believe they are going to convert 481 to oil first since she’s operational then 486 after 478 which I believe they said they hope to start work next year
The Durango and Silverton is my most favorite narrow gauge railroad in the United States.

I’m definitely will be making another visit someday and hoping to visit when it’s winter.

She was born one mornin in the san Juan summer back in 1881
She was a beautiful daughter of the d&rg and she weighed about a 1000 ton

When was this filmed and is that when 478 when out of service to be stored in the round house
#478 was out of service in 2011 and i hear that D&S has a plan to restored #478 but they gonna rebuild it to burn oil
